Alright, I’m a bit late on this reveal post but whatevs, the link up is still live and better late than never, right? Early July, Chelsee over at Southern Beauty Guide announced she was putting together another round of Pretty Little Beauty Swap. I thought, “cool, I’ve never done something like that before so why not sign up and give it a whirl? It’d be fun!” And so, I signed up.
Well, it turned out that I was the only Canadian that signed up for the swap and Chels e-mailed me to say that she was working on trying to find me a Canadian partner and to hang tight. Chelsee paired me up with Melissa from Dreams and Colour and we immediately got right to it, emailing each other back and forth and over the next couple of weeks, really getting to know one another. I must say that it was really nice meeting and getting to know someone new and something that lives so close to me. She lives maybe an hour and a half away from me and we were hoping to be able to meet up in person, to exchange our packages but our schedules didn’t allow for that and we ended up shipping them off to each other by mail.
Here’s the thing: I don’t subscribe to any beauty boxes or any subscription boxes for that matter but I liked the idea of being paired up with someone, where we could get to know one another, discuss likes and dislikes and curate a collection of goodies to then send to our respective partners. I’m not a huge girlie-girl but I do love make up. I’m a fair-skinned ginger and without make up, I feel like I look about 12 years old. I have crazy long eye lashes but without mascara, you can’t see them. Same with my eyebrows. I was never blessed with full brows, so I pencil them in a touch every day. By no means do I wear a mask of make up, nor am I unrecognizable when I don’t wear make up, but like I said, I do love it and I love experimenting and finding new products and brands to obsess over.
We have plans to meet up in September/October and I really look forward to meeting this pint-sized cutie!
So what did I get? Well, Melissa doesn’t like to wear eye liner, so she ended up sending me a few liners that she received in some of her beauty boxes, items that she figured would serve me better than staying with her as paper weights. Much appreciate, I love liner. She sent me this really awesome liner from Elizabeth Mott and it’s a really nice black with a bit of metallic to it. I haven’t used it but I’ve smeared it on the top of my hand to see what it looked like. Melissa also sent me mascara. A girl can never have too much mascara. Additionally, she sent me a face mask, a hair mask, nail wraps, nail polish x 2, more liners, EOS lip balm (amazing stuff – I love, thanks Melissa!) and an amazing NYC eye shadow palette. I tried that out over the weekend and loved it. It’s so me. I’ve been so spoiled by so many wonderful things, many of which I’ve never tried before. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: Thank you so much hun, truly. I am so grateful for the gifts and to have met such a nice person along the way. 🙂
