10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week 39

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy Link Up!!

We are six months deep into this awesome weekly link up that Krysten, from Why Girls Are Weird and I both introduced back in late August, 2015.  The goal is to spread some happiness and gratitude, and encourage others to share their happy/grateful things of the week.

It isn’t complicated or ambiguous. The purpose of this weekly space is so that we all have a place where we can share our posts of 10 things made us happy or 10 things we were/are grateful for this week.

The link up continues to grow each week, which is awesome and I’m proud that we’ve had so much positive feedback about it. Sometimes all it takes is gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. I mean, we live in a world full of senseless violence, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I find, makes me open my eyes a bit more to appreciate the little things… Don’t you agree?

We switched things up awhile ago with a new #10things button that we’ll be using for the next while, so feel free to swap out the old (if you haven’t already) and bring in the new!

The rules are below (keep reading). Please remember that this is not a link dump; if it’s not an appropriate link, it will be deleted. I suspect next Friday things will be more active and we’ll be back more into the swing of things.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

  1. Jeff came home early last weekend (ahead of a forecasted snow storm up north) and surprised me early on Saturday morning. #hefinallysucceededatsurprisingme #finally
  2. Newfie kisses.  Maximus was a breeze to walk last week, he was just so chill. Newfie
  3. Jeff scored me some Reebok Nano 4.0’s that were on clearance and then got an additional 40% off, coming in at just under $41!!  I luuuuuurrrvve them; they’re so comfy!
  4. Talking to co-workers about mental health and being proactive.  I’ve lost two family members to suicide in the last month.  Suicide does not discriminate age, gender, race, socio-economic class, or anything like that.  Depression and anxiety are no joke; please reach out and talk to someone if you think you need it.
  5. Chatting with a friend and reminiscing about her boy, Kramer, who passed away last year from cancer.  His personality was out of this world and he left behind a legacy of other Leonbergers to carry on his bloodline.  He was such a handsome and lovely boy and I really miss him.Kramer the Leonberger
  6. Chipotle bowls.  They are just so damn good, I could eat the bowls until the end of time and I’d be a happy woman.
  7. New gym outfits, head to toe. new gym outfit
  8. Entire days spent with my love, even at times when we drive each other nuts.  Fourteen years with your best friend can do that to a couple.
  9. Getting back into yoga.  I’ve missed it and I always feel so grounded and humbled afterwards.
  10. Dog snuggles.

Dog snuggles Dog snuggles

And those were the 10 things that made me happy this week. 🙂

We’ve got a long weekend this weekend, I’ll be staying home with all the dogs while Jeff heads up north for a shooting match with his Dad.

I’ll be back on Monday or Tuesday with a Weekend Recap, followed by the #LetsBeFriends Blog Hop on Tuesday and Blog Paws Wordless Wednesday next Wednesday.

What are your plans for this weekend?

 —–

Have a fabulous weekend my friends!! xox

Finally, the link up….

An InLinkz Link-up

  • good price on the Reeboks! I am so glad you mention suicide and how it affects everyone. I lost one of my very best friends when I was pregnant with my now 6 year old, she was only 31, she was beautiful and so funny, we had the best laughs, but depression took her away. I nearly lost my dad just over 4 years ago, but I knew the signs and got him help, he is doing great now. Thank you for helping raise awareness xx

  • I love that dog’s name, Maximus! He needs a buddy named Minimus! LOL! A friend of mine has a Newfie and she is the most chilled out dog I have ever seen, a true gentle giant! Have a great weekend!

  • Aww #1 Sweet surprises are so cool!

  • Sounds like my kind of weekend. Thanks for sharing with us each week and hosting the party. I would love for you to bring this party over at mine and get some extra community involved. It is going on till Monday. Begins each Thursday at 7:00 a.m. I always enjoy reading everyone’s thankful list. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • I need to acquire $40 nanos!

  • As always I love your lists – and how you’ve turned such a huge negative into something that can be a positive. Hoping your talks help others some day 🙂 Happy Friday!

  • No kidding, eh? They originally were selling for about $120-$140 I think Jeff said.
My goodness, I’m so sorry for the loss of your best friend. That must have been incredibly painful for you to lose someone so close to you while you were going through such a happy time, pregnant with your six year old.
Suicide is just such a sad thing, because even after death, there’s still loss and grieving that others go through, and often times they grieve for the rest of their lives. It just affects so many. The pain of the person that has passed is gone, but others endure it for a lifetime. It’s especially worse if you’re left wondering the why’s and hows.
I’m so glad that you were able to get the help for your Dad that he so desperately needed. <3 xox

  • I just love Newfs, they’re such easy going dogs. Maximus, although still really a puppy at age 1, he was just so mellow. He was a doll. 🙂
Have a great weekend love! xox

  • Definitely! Especially considering I always ruin or spoil his surprises, some way or another. It never fails, I think because I’m a planner and my hubby is more spontaneous.
Nevertheless, it was nice to have him home early and super considerate of him to head on over to our condo instead of coming to my mom’s house, late, and waking us all up (we’re house sitting across town at my mom’s).
Have a great weekend hun! 🙂

  • I loved that Newfie kisses picture that you posted on Facebook! I would totally accept those slobbery kisses. Maximus is adorable!

  • Michelle, you are MOST welcome my dear. Happy to have you and to have “met” you in fun, happy link up. I’ll head on over to your space; thank you ever so much, that’s really kind and considerate of you and I appreciate you extending that to me.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend 😉 xoxo

  • Reebok outlet girl, find one!! I had the choice of white or a baby blue. So glad Jeff went out when he did and stumbled upon those. They’re soooo comfy!

  • Love your new workout clothes and great score on those kicks, momma! Awww, Kramer looks like such a sweet boy–I’m so sorry for your friend’s loss 🙁 Love that you love animals with such a great big heart, Linds.

I’m also so sorry you have been so deeply affected by suicide lately. As tragic as it is, I’m glad it’s entering our conversation so we can remove the stigma attached to mental health illness. <3 thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • It’s really the only thing I can do, offer support and raise awareness. People need to speak up more and reach out and ask for help. There is nothing wrong with admitting that you need a hand and support, you know? Life is tough and we’re in this together. Thanks girl, appreciate the lovely comments, as always. 😉
Have a great weekend my friend xo

  • I still cry for Kramer when I talk to Lori. She has 4 other leonbergers but Kramer was just so special. He would sit on your feet when you got to his house. He was 180 lbs of pure love. <3
I hope that we can be more open and welcoming arms to others. We need to support and uplift eachother, you know? We're in this life together and if we can lend a hand or an ear to someone that needs it, why not. It's just so unfortunate, for so many…..
TGIF!! Thanks so much my love xoxox

  • Yeah, thanks for linking. You have such a unique blog and perspective I want it shared with my readers.

  • I am so sorry to hear about the loss in your family. Depression and anxiety – I have a dear friend suffering from both and I, too, had a time where depression ruled my days. So glad I made it back to happiness!
Your workout clothes are cute and what a great deal on those reeboks! I am shopping for new workout gear myself. Puppy cuddles are the best and spending time with your significant other even if he sometimes drives you mad is the best thing ever! 14 years -wow that’s a long time! Stefan and I have been a couple since 1993 – for 23 years now and still going strong! Once you found your soulmate you won’t give him up for anything, right! Have a wonderful weekend, beautiful friend! xxx

  • Kim Munoz

Oh no! I think you posted a pic with Kramer a while back! He was so handsome!! And Newfies are ahmazing too! Sorry to hear about your family loss though. That breaks my heart. Sending you lots of hugs. Whats this Tuesday Link up? Have a great weekend!!

  • You really think so? Maybe I don’t give myself enough credit, but wow, that is such a compliment and that means the world to me. Truly. I’m touched. Thank you Michelle. 🙂

  • I’ve been doing so much yoga lately and I absolutely LOVE it! It’s been great for my mental health and anxiety, as well as my body!

  • So sorry to hear about your family. Yes mental health is so important to keep a check on, if someone is in need of support, reach out. Yay for getting back into yoga and doggie snuggles 🙂

  • I’d love to have you link this up with my linky as well 🙂 Hope its OK to link mine even if I don’t have 10 things?

  • Cathy C Bennett

Sounds like you had a busy week. And you got your hubby back home safe WITH a new pair of sneaks. You go girl…

  • Wish we lived close by so you could kick my butt and drag me to Yoga. I can’t seem to find a good place around here. The one I wanted to go to again closed. WTF?! Ugh. I prefer dog snuggles but all I get lately are cat snuggles. Not complaining; my babies love me. Hahaha Thanks for the reminder, haven’t been to Chipotle in a long time. So ready to go again. YUM.

Have an amazing day and great weekend.

    xox

  • Julie Smith

That is an amazing price for your sneaks. I need some new ones for running and they are so expensive!! Maximus looks like a sweetie and look at that drool. lol. I have wanted to try yoga but there are not any places near me and I think I want a class before I try it on my own so I do not hurt myself, lol!!

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

Enjoy your three day weekend! We have to work on Monday, but I’m still looking forward to a light traffic day.

  • Good memory, I did post about Kramer. He had such a beautiful presence, he really was one of a kind.
Thanks for all the kind words and support. It’s just been a f’d up last month…
I cohost often, on Tuesdays, the Lets Be Friends blog hop/link up. It’s hosted by The Southern Beauty Guide (chelsee) and The Dwelling Tree (Tiffany). You can link up any post. Check it out. 🙂
Have a great weekend hun. I’m hibernating; it’s SO cold!! Xo

  • I suffer through bouts, too but I can usually pull myself out of the depths… But I get it. That emptiness and deep, deep sadness to the core… We don’t talk about the ugly, unpleasant crap; we need to break down these barriers and talk about mental health more.

Isn’t it funny that no matter how much your significant other drives you mad, you wouldn’t have it any other way?

Hmm not sure what to suggest for workout clothing. Clare swears by Fabletics. I’ve not tried them yet but have been curious….

Stay warm my dear, were thick in the throes of feeling like – 37 Celsius, with the wind chill. Omg!!
    Xoxo

  • Good for you, girl!! So proud of you. It’s been a tough bit for you but I’m most positive you’ll come out of this stronger than you ever thought you were. 🙂
Have a great weekend, girl!! xo

  • Absolutely, I couldn’t agree more!!

  • Aw, thank you Julie. Absolutely, link up whenever you’d like, as little or often as you’d like, love.
Thanks SO much, I will link up. That’s so kind of you!!

  • I know, I can’t complain at all, right? Amidst the chaos and the tribulations of life, it was a good week in the end. 🙂

    Have a great weekend Cathy!

  • No?? Email me where you live, I’ll do some digging for you. I used to be hardcore yogi but fell out of it when I started to add HIIT and weight training, but I’ve soooo missed it. And come Thursday, I’m always grateful to go to Glen’s power yoga class because I’m as hell by then and the stretching and holding poses is incredible. Have you ever tried hot yoga? If so, do you like?

I feel like chipotle is relatively on the healthier side and I enjoy it because I don’t feel stuffed or bloated after. God damn carbs make me feel like garbage.

Stay warm, you lucky bugger in California. With wind chill, it’s minus 47 Celsius!!!!!! Love ya girl!

  • PunkyMoms

    awwww I love the list 🙂 #authenticbloggers

  • Yeah, but if you clock mad mileage, then it’s worth it. Your feet and body thanks you for it, you know? I replace shoes every few months because I have a gym pair, a pair for walking back and forth to work/pet sitting.
Maximus ONLY began drooling when I pulled a cookie out. 🙂 he was such a love bug.
Try some yoga on YouTube to get your feet wet. And then, should you fall on your face, you can do so in the comfort of your home. Hahaha! 😉

  • Thanks girl! Enjoy your Sunday my friend. 🙂

  • Thanks girl! 😉
Have an awesome day, my friend.

  • I hope your new cowl and headband help you brave the cold! Happy Monday sweetie xxx

  • They were quite literally saving me from frostbite over the weekend!!
I’m having a LOVELY Monday. We have a three day long weekend!!
