10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week 38

Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!!

Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird and I both introduced this link up back in late August, 2015 because we both thought it was good practice to reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, no matter how big or small.  Others enjoyed the theme and so, we thought it would be a good idea to create a link up and encourage others to share their happy/grateful things of the week, too.  If you missed it last week, we have a third person that will be hosting with Krysten and I and she is a good friend of ours both.  Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog is now hosting with us every week, so don’t forget to go visit her blog.  She may or may not post each and every Friday but Krysten and I always will, not to worry.

So – 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week:  It isn’t complicated or ambiguous. The purpose of this weekly space is so that we all have a place where we can share our posts of 10 things made us happy or 10 things we were/are grateful for this week. That’s it.

Sometimes all it takes is gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. I mean, we live in a world full of senseless violence, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I find, makes me open my eyes a bit more to appreciate the little things… Don’t you agree?

Please remember that this is not a link dump; if it’s not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.

10 things that made me happy this week

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

At long last, FRIDAY! And today is the letter ‘G’ in the #AtoZChallenge. How appropriate that I’m writing things that made me happy or that I’m grateful for this week. 🙂

These were the things that made me happy this week:

  1. Having drinks with Jeff last Saturday night.  I don’t remember anything after 11 pm, but apparently I wasn’t sloppy, or overly sloppy I should say. LOL
  2. Sunshine on cold days.
  3. My new Trek Bike.
  4. Paying down some debt.  #feelssogood
  5. Good news from the physiotherapist – huge improvement in my neck at Tuesday’s appointment versus March 31st when I first went there.
  6. I love that my husband still has the ability to make me blush and smile like no one else can, even after fourteen years together.
  7. Cuddles with my dogs. 🙂
  8. We found out that a friend of ours down at the dive shop we frequent in Barbados finally opened up a shop of his own.  We couldn’t be more happy for him and excited to see him in July.  #89daystilvacation
  9. Finding some new bathing suits that might work, AND that also pique my fancy.  I’m particular about bathing suits.  Now I just have to see if i can fit my butt in them.
  10. Talking to my mom right up until she boarded her plane to Cuba.  I will always cherish the relationship I have with my mom.  I just love her to pieces.

– – – – –

I’m staying home at my mom’s house, dog sitting while she’s away and Jeff is heading up north for a action shooting competition.  I’m going out shopping if I feel up to it and catching up on TV shows.

What have YOU got on the agenda this weekend?  Make sure it’s a good one, my friends. xo

Finally, the link up….

  • Cuddles with my dogs…I am always thankful for those moments. Especially now as my dachshund has good days and bad days and when the bad days come, I can’t help but wonder, how many good days are left. They are my joy. Thanks for hosting. Enjoy the weekend.

  • I have a wonderful relationship with my mom too…it’s something I wouldn’t trade for anything! I really need to get a bike too!! =)

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

Sounds like you need to go to Barbados and check out that new dive shop! Got to love sunshine!

  • I bet you are super excited that your trip to Barbados is coming closer! I am looking forward to your pics from there! Your mom is quite a traveller! Love it! Have a fab weekend with your fluffs! Hugs xxx

  • Paying down debt always feels amazing, doesn’t it?! With some blog income + tax returns coming in this month, I’m looking forward to seeing just how much I can pay off at the end of the month…fingers crossed!

  • claire

first weekend trip away in the truck to a show !!! wooooo hoooooooo

  • Your mother’s trip to Cuba sounds interesting. I would like to go there someday. Congrats on the progress you have made/are making in therapy!

  • Kim Munoz

Love everything about this list. Not gonna lie, I’m super jealous of your vacation though! LOL Take me with you. Or at least share tons and tons of pics so I can pretend I’m there! Love the blushing, hes still got it 😉 Sending my love!

  • Dude. Can I be your mom for a day? I feel like she leads the most fabulous life. Also I have ALWAYS wanted to travel to Cuba so I’m excited to hear her thoughts!!

I love that your hubby still has that effect on you! It’s not always easy but a partner who can make us laugh/smile is a beautiful thing 🙂 And good on you for going out for date night! I feel as though I have that problem all the time; I go from pleasantly tipsy to full-on drunk skunk mode very quickly, LOL. XOXO and hope you guys have a great weekend!

  • CrazyShenanigans

Paying debt is one of the best feelings!

  • I’m jealous of your mom’s trip to Cuba!

  • Julie Smith

Sunshine on cold days is the best. Like when it is cold and sunny and you get in your car and it’s warm. Love that. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

  • 89 days until BARBADOS! it’s getting close, friend xoxoxoxo

  • #6 i so sweet! And I’m so jealous that your mom is going to Cuba. What’s she going for? I was just looking into it and realized that it’s still not as easy to go as I thought.

  • Congrats on finding new swim suits! That is always basically impossible for me. ha

  • Thank you for organizing this link up – I think it’s a great idea! Happiness is in the little things and there’s always so much positivity in remembering the things that makes us happy! I love your list, especially #10.

  • Me too, I cherish my time with my boys a little bit more as they get older. Time really does fly, most days I wish there was a slow down button.
Relish in those good, happy days, for you never know when they’ll leave us…Sad, but true. Hugs!
Have a great weekend hun! xo

  • Same here. I’m so grateful for my relationship with her. I hope you have a lovely weekend Mel! xo

  • We’ve got something like another 87 or 88 days to go! The countdown is ON! 🙂

  • I am getting so excited it’s quickly approaching. I’ve just come back from shopping and I’m already eye-balling some cute summery outfits. I bought some sandals and a bathing suit today. God I hate bathing suit shopping with a passion. I swear they have the worst, most god-awful lighting in those change rooms.

My mom is going to Barbados next month, too! She’s always somewhere! I’m envious. 🙂

Have a lovely weekend Chrissy!! xox

  • That’s awesome, good for you. Hopefully it will be a decent chunk of change. 🙂
Have a great weekend Momma! xox

  • Niiiiice, Claire. Have fun, take some pictures! 🙂 xo

  • My mom usually goes to Cuba once a year and she’s completely incommunicado when she’s there, as their internet sucks. It’ll be interesting to see the changes that’ll occur in Cuba, now with the U.S. allowing people entry. But I’ve heard it isn’t quite as easy as one would think, and I’m not sure the details. I know there’s already US hotels in Havana redoing some hotels but it’ll only be a matter of time before the Varadero is booming. It’s nice there, especially Havana.
Have a good weekend love! xox

  • We usually take a ton – we take a fuji camera I can take in the water to about 30 feet, then we have the go pro and I’ve also taken my DSLR there as well, but it’s a lot of shit to lug around, but not to worry, I’ll be sharing them. And if you can get your ass to Canada and fit in my luggage, you’re on. 😉
    Love you darling. xoxox

  • Cathy C Bennett

Glad to hear your health is still improving. Barbados huh? Lucky lady…

  • Hahah, drunk skunk mode!! lol. I’m old, I can’t handle my alcohol anymore.

My mom goes away 4-6 times a year and really lives the life. I hope my retirement is as half as good As mom’s when I’m her age. 🙂

Cuba is nice, especially Havana. We went on our honeymoon there. It was a good time, good people as so much to see.

    Happy Sunday love, xoxoxo!

  • It’s so liberating!

  • I’m jealous of every one of her trips. She’s off to Barbados again next month, too! 🙂

  • Yes!! I love that feeling. I’ve usually got my shoulders up to my ears all cold and that bit of warmth is nice. Couple that with seat heaters and I’m a happy camper! 🙂
I hope you’re having a great weekend love! xo

  • We’re down to 86 now!! 🙂 I need to get my ass in gear, it is ON! xoxo

  • Thanks girl. 😉
My mom usually goes to Cuba once a year, just because. It’s a nice place to go, cheap, great weather, nice people. My mom usually goes to Cuba, Barbados, Mexico and Domincan, oh and add in a European destination here and there.
Is it not as simple as buying a ticket? Or have they just opened the doors but they’re “easing into” allowing people to travel there??

  • Trust me, me too. I think I find okay ones and then try them on and it’s a whole different story. Lol!

  • Mmhmm! My favorite place and island to go to. Have you ever been?

  • You’re welcome my dear. Feel free to pop in every week, were always here celebrating the good and practicing gratitude.
Really great to meet you! 🙂

  • I thought it would be that simple, but they’re basically easing into allowing people to travel to Cuba. It’s easier to get a license to travel now, but you still need a reason (like work, an education event or an athletic event). There’s a long list of reasons why you can go, so I should be able to find a reason, but it’s not as simple as booking a ticket, like I was hoping. I looked up writing programs in Cuba and there’s a week-long one coming up, but it’s in a month, so a little too soon. I’m going to keep looking out for week-long writing and art programs, though. 🙂

  • That’s interesting, you’re the first person to mention that, otherwise maybe I ignorantly assumed it was just an “open door” now. I guess you can’t travel there for pleasure if there seems to be so many other reasons to choose from?
Thanks for letting me know, I had no clue. Definitely ensure you spend at least a day in Havana. The old cars, the colors of the buildings, the markets, the cigar factories…. So much to see and do. Havana is quite beautiful. 🙂 Keep me posted when you go.

  • I thought the same thing, that it was just “open door” now, but I was looking for airplane tickets and I couldn’t find any so I googled it. The articles that I read basically said that if you can’t find a reason to go, you’re not trying hard enough. 🙂 I’m wondering if it’s just a way for us to ease into it. I definitely want to spend some time in Havana! I have a friend who has gone twice for triathalons and it looks so beautiful! 🙂

  • I think a lot of people have a misconception about the whole issue, just like you and I, it’s news that you have to have a reason, etc. I’m sure it’s not hard to come up with one, like you mentioned. 🙂
What a great place to compete in a triathlon!!
