Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!!

Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird and I both introduced this link up back in late August, 2015 because we both thought it was good practice to reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, no matter how big or small.  Others enjoyed the theme and so, we thought it would be a good idea to create a link up and encourage others to share their happy/grateful things of the week, too.  If you missed it a few weeks ago, we have a third person that will be hosting with Krysten and I and she is a good friend of ours both.  Please welcome Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog who will now be hosting with us every week, so don’t forget to go visit her blog.  Charlotte is in Amsterdam (Hi Charlotte! So jealous of your adventures!) this week so don’t be surprised if she’s quiet on the web or doesn’t post the link up today or next Friday.

So – 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week:  It isn’t complicated or ambiguous. The purpose of this weekly space is so that we all have a place where we can share our posts of 10 things made us happy or 10 things we were/are grateful for this week. That’s it.

Sometimes all it takes is gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. I mean, we live in a world full of senseless violence, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I find, makes me open my eyes a bit more to appreciate the little things… Don’t you agree?

Please remember that this is not a link dump; if it’s not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.

At long last, FRIDAY, amiright?!  It’s been a stupid long, busy and exhausting week but let’s stop the complaining and get on to the good things that happened in the last week.

#AtoZChallenge

Today is the letter ‘S’ in the #AtoZChallenge that I’m participating in for the entire month of April.  Today’s word is “Spending” as in spending money.  With my bonus that I received last week, we were able to purchase the rest of our spending money for our trip, which is exciting.  We don’t have to worry any more about setting aside enough funds every pay cheque.  We’ve already banked on going for at least 10 dives (scuba), which will more than likely turn into anywhere from 10 to 14 dives, since we love it so much.  And then the rest is just play money, spending money for doing touristy things and eating out.  I can’t wait.  81 days until we leave for Barbados!!!

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

  1. Before I had even chosen the word of the day for the #AtoZChallenge, I had on my happy list that I was happy we have all of our spending money set aside for our trip in July.  Not only that, I gifted myself with a new Fuji (XP90) camera that I can dive with to 50 ft.  Yes, we have a GoPro but that thing is so small, I’m afraid of it dropping and falling into the depths further than the eye can see.  Did I mention that our last Fuji we had was an XP10, which was rated for 10 feet.  One day, in the harbour on the catamaran before we set sail, I dropped the camera through the netting and I thought it was gone forever.  The depth of the harbour was 30 feet deep so I basically chalked it as a stupid mistake and a loss.  Well, later that day, after returning to the harbour after about 5 to 6 hours, one of the catamaran crew offered to go have a look and see if he could find it, so that at least I could salvage my memory card.  He free dove down a couple of times to the bottom and on his second or third attempt, came back up with the camera in hand.  Not only that, but IT WORKED!  It still works, a few years later.  Fuji makes damn good cameras and to know that it survived at 30 feet deep for hours and hours when it was only rated for 10 feet deep made me happy and further emphasized what a good camera it is/was.  I’m sure the new camera can go deeper but I wouldn’t want to push and why bother, that’s what the GoPro is for. 🙂
  2. Having a nice, impromptu dinner out last Saturday evening.
  3. Sitting on a dock down by a lake in Huntsville, Ontario last weekend.  It was such a beautiful day and the lake was like glass.Huntsville, Ontario
  4. Warm, unseasonably mild temperatures this past week.  I’m loving it – you won’t hear me complain for one second!
  5. Having a functioning kitchen faucet.  You should’ve seen the accumulation of dishes after just a short 24 hours of having the kitchen water turned off.  Thankfully Jeff was able to fix it and we didn’t have to splurge on a new one.  (Who knew that Moen products are guaranteed for life!!)
  6. Groomed little boys.  I just love how soft they are just after being groomed.  They look so adorable.  🙂

  7. I’m grateful for breaking down walls and having emotional release this week.  It’s a relief.
  8. I’m grateful to work with some pretty wonderful people that appreciate me.daffodils
  9. I’m grateful for the good news that my Physiotherapist told me that I can start incorporating weights back into foundational movements.  Although I can’t quite go back to BodyPump, Combat and Shred just yet, it’s positive progress.
  10. I’m just simply grateful to be alive.  I feel truly blessed.

Plans this weekend are Jeff working overtime today and possibly tomorrow.  The boys will be going to my mom’s house for the weekend for some quality ‘Nana’ time while we head up north again to get some practice time in at the gun club before our May match in Ottawa.  The weather has been great all week so hopefully we’ll be back early enough on Sunday to get some mileage/training in for our 75 bike ride we’re doing at the beginning of June.

What have YOU got on the agenda this weekend?  Make sure it’s a good one, my friends. xo

  • So much good things going on! So happy for you that you can workout more the way you want to! But remember to take it slow, sweetie! have the best weekend with your boys! Hugs xxx

  • I’m now wondering what type of faucets we got…
I got a letter from Company owner and CEO who both signed a “good job on this project that won an award” letter and a card from my boss. It’s the little things that go a long way.

  • Having a camera for underwater is so fun! I’d love for you to share the photos after your trip 🙂

  • I can’t believe they found your camera and it worked! That is awesome! I’m so jealous of your upcoming trip. We had a bit of a water problem this week too. Our water line in the basement got backed up because tree roots grew in it, so no laundry for 2 days. It was nice not having to do it, but the back-up of laundry now is unbelievable.

  • Progress is progress girl! 🙂

  • Kim Munoz

I love all of it! That lake look beyond peaceful! It’s so beautiful up there! Have an amazing weekend love!

  • Emotional release is the best!! And I’m so glad you’re alive, too!! 🙂

  • I didn’t know Moen had a lifetime guarantee! Note to self…if you have any Moen products, don’t replace them!!! Ha! That view of the lake is gorgeous. And the pups are so cute!

  • That lake view is so beautiful! And groomed puppies. They’re so nice! 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend.

Your trip sounds amazing. While your diving in the cool blue water I’ll be sweating like crazy in AZ for the BP conference LOL Your kids do look super fluffy. Don’t you just wish they could stay like that? Jaxson is already a hot mess and he had a bath on Monday! #ohwell Have a great weekend!

  • Sara Strand

My weekend plans definitely include new bookshelves, working on Penelope’s first year book, and READING! But I was so incredibly happy to have one super warm day this week and I got to get a pedicure. Two awesome things in one week- I felt spoiled!

  • It isn’t what I was doing at the gym 4 weeks ago before the accident, but progress is progress. I’m getting there. 🙂
I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend with the family love!! xo

  • Little touches on products like that are awesome and much appreciated when you really need them. Faucets can be expensive so while you may pay a bit more up front, it’s worth in the long run. In your case, you’re so fortunate because everything is so brand spanking new. Eeeeeee! Getting so excited for you, girl!!

  • We always run into many turtles, we spear lion fish and in the last few years, the dive master we go with loves to explore and point out critters and creatures that like to hide. What is especially fun is feeding speared lion fish to eel. They can actually eat them and then they spit out their poisonous fins. It’s too bad because lion fish are beautiful.
Stay tuned, there will be lots of pictures and video in July. 🙂

    I hope you’ve had a relaxing weekend. 😉
    Xo

  • I was amazed, I was expecting to just get the memory card back and the camera would be fried but no, it STILL works!! 🙂 So I’m going to sell it for a steal and hope that someone else who needs it grabs it up.

Oh shit, did you have to did up the basement to see the roots/fix the pipes? How’d they fix it? Sounds expensive, frustrating and annoying. Don’t you just LOVE laundry? *rolls eyes*

  • You’re right, Katie. I hope you had a nice weekend! 🙂

  • We were up there again this weekend and there was better, sunnier weather last weekend. But the leaves are all coming in, we even saw three MOOSE today. The north is beautiful. There’s definitely not enough green space where we live so heading up north is nice. I hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend babe!

  • I hate it but it’s such a huge weight lifted. 🙂
    Love you Momma!! Xo

  • Seriously, it’s worth the up front expense if they’re guaranteed for life. Home Depot will give you free parts and if you call Moen, they treat you like gold as well. Happy customer. 🙂 🙂
Thanks girl!! I hope you had a great weekend!!

  • I hope you had a wonderful week and have a great Monday girl! I miss the boys, they’re at my moms til I get home from work tonight. But it’ll be a happy reunion. 🙂 xo

  • Is this your first year attending or have you been to a BP conference before? I’m hoping that maybe next year I can go down to it but we’ll see. 🙂
LOL @ Jaxson. Is he alright to bath yourself? Or is he a wild one? That’s the thing with light colored hair dogs, when they’re dirty it really shows. Lucky for me, they’re like magnets to puddles, dirt, mud, you name it. They love getting dirty. 🙂
    Happy Monday girl! 😉

  • Did you get your shelves and P’s first year book done over the weekend?
I saw on FB you got a pedicure and thought immediately you go girl. You never get much or any time to yourself let alone indulge in something nice for yourself. It must’ve been glorious. My feet are gross, I need w pedicure so badly!! lol.
Have a great day hun. xox

  • Sara Strand

No to both. HA! I forgot I had a shopping and lunch date with my friend, so I did that yesterday. But I got some clothes for Penelope and #4, so there’s that. My shelving will happen tonight, Matt just doesn’t know it yet. 😉

  • Nice. I love volun-“tolding”. “Honey were gonna do this tonight and by we I mean you.” *big smile*
Your lunch date sounds like it was fun, AND you got out of the house for something other than grocery shopping. WINNING! 🙂
