10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week 23

Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!!

Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird and I both introduced this link up back in late August, 2015 because we both thought it was good practice to reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, no matter how big or small.  Others enjoyed the theme and so, we thought it would be a good idea to create a link up and encourage others to share their happy/grateful things of the week, too.  If you missed it a few weeks ago, we have a third person that will be hosting with Krysten and I and she is a good friend of ours both.  Please welcome Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog who will now be hosting with us every week, so don’t forget to go visit her blog.  Charlotte has been in beautiful Amsterdam for the last week so she won’t be hosting but check back for her return next week.

Sometimes all it takes is gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. I mean, we live in a world full of senseless violence, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I find, makes me open my eyes a bit more to appreciate the little things… Don’t you agree?

Please remember that this is not a link dump; if it’s not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

  1. We took the scenic drive (read: not the highway) home from up north last Sunday. It was gorgeous.Sundridge
  2. Saw not one, but TWO moose! Haven’t seen any in years. moose
  3. Cleaning!! Been cleaning, sorting, shredding, organizing and tossing up a storm the last week.
  4. We started a strict 30-day paleo plan. The change: no cheating whatsoever.
  5. Seeing just how happy the boys get when Daddy gets home from working a long 13 hour day.
  6. Working from home on Wednesday was kinda nice.
  7. Having a nap and spooning my dogs. Nothing better than that right there.
  8. Kombucha tea. I’ve had my fair share in the last week.
  9. Wednesday’s therapy session was an insightful one and I didn’t cry at all. I know most of these concepts are familiar with everyone but I’m learning to truly let shit go and that I am in control of and responsible for my own actions and my behavior,  no one else is.
  10. Jeff bought me some Puma sports bras that are pretty darn comfy. 🙂 Thanks Jeffy!

Today’s letter of the day is ‘Y’ in the #AtoZChallenge that I’m participating in for the entire month of April (don’t worry, I’m almost finished with it).  Today’s word is “YES” as in “YES, IT’S THE WEEKEND!”  I’m just a little excited/happy about that.

This weekend is my pet sitting weekend, so I’ll be recapping My Weekend Adventures in Pet Sitting and Dog Walking on Monday or Tuesday.  I’ve got 25 visits scheduled and I will borrowing my mom’s car because hey, I bought a car that I cannot drive.  No, seriously.  I’m learning how to drive stick, the problem is finding time to go out, with Jeff working a lot of overtime these last few weeks, to appointments and everything else. Life.  By the time dinner is done, it’s too late to go out.  It’s very frustrating, let me tell you.  I can’t just pick up and go to the grocery store to get bananas if I wanted to, because I’ll stall the car or panic and then get rear ended because everyone is always in such a god damn hurry.  I’ve toyed with putting a sign on the back of the car that says “Go Around – new driver”… Lol!  I’ll get it, with time and practice…..oh yeah, and breathing!

What have YOU got on the agenda this weekend?  Make sure it’s a good one, my friends. xo

Finally, the link up….

  • I’m a huge fan of a good therapy session! My girlfriend eats a strict Paleo diet and although I support her decision because it works for her…she sometimes is no fun to have happy hour with! 🙂 I have to indulge sometimes no matter how healthy I eat. I give her grief about it all the time. Thanks for hosting and enjoy the weekend.

  • Oh! Are you doing the whole 30? I eat 90% paleo and it’s changed my life and my health! If you need any tips, let me know! Also, you should try home brewing kombucha, it’s SO FUN!

  • A strict Paleo diet – I’d love to hear more about it. I really want to lose weight, maybe that would be something for me as well? Working from home is awesome and new sports bras are the bees knees for feeling comfy at the gym! Have a fab weekend, love! xxx

  • This is a great idea, I love positive messages and reminders of all the good things that are happening in life, so to come across this post was great today.

  • Kim Munoz

Im glad the sessions are going well. They really can help set shit straight! I need to do some major spring cleaning around here. If only I could just empty the house and start fresh! LOL Have an amazing weekend love!

  • I’m glad that your therapy sessions are going so well and are so beneficial. That’s awesome! 🙂 And that first photo is absolutely gorgeous! You shared that on Facebook, right? I saved a photo that you shared recently because I might use it as painting inspiration soon. 🙂

  • Love your pics from the scenic route home. It’s worth it sometimes, yes?

  • There’s a giant discussion on Tumblr (I think…I’m not on Tumblr, I actually saw snippets of it in a Buzzfeed article–ha!) about how big moose really are and it’s pretty hilarious! Also, some of people’s moose encounter stories are terrifying! But from a distance I’d love to see one!

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

Sounds like you have have a great work — all that sorting, organizing and tossing is something I definitely need to do! Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Cathy C Bennett

Ha! – we used the same word for “Y” Have a great weekend and get out there and drive that car! It only gets better with embarrassing moments. More to blog about!

  • Rica Lewis

Cuddling with my Chihuahua is always on my list. New sports bras and Kombucha have a spot too. Looks like you had a great week!

  • Julie Smith

Spooning with the dogs is the best!! And moose. That is so cool. We have lots of deer but I have never seen a moose. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!

  • We follow a paleo lifestyle for the most part all the time, with cheats occasionally but this time, we’re trying 30 days strict again. It cleans your body out. Don’t get me wrong, I DO indulge. 🙂
    I hope you’re having a great weekend!!

  • We’re not doing the whole 30, but we’ve been 80-90% paleo for the last year and have loved the results/and how we’ve felt. You feel amazing right? We’re just not going to cheat for a month. Kinda kickstart a chapter.

    I should..but time and a place to store it is a challenge…

  • When I say paleo, I just mean paleo but absolutely no cheating for 30 days. No dairy, no sugar. Back to basics. It definitely leans out and for me personally, I’ve discovered that my body just doesn’t handle grains well, despite how yummy they are. 🙁 but that’s okay.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend love! Xo

  • Thanks Sheri, I think it’s easy to dwell on the negative so I find creating a weekly list, at the very least, is important and I’m grateful for it. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Hun.

  • I like the structure. As much as I dread it each week, it’s good for me and it forces me to deal with things I’m always just setting aside for later.
Ughhhh I could clean more. Another deal broke on our tap!! Water under the sink in the cupboard. Oh my!!
I’d love to start fresh or move, which would force me to deal with it all instead of just saving it for a rainy day! lol!

  • Hey girl, how was your weekend? I’m just getting to this now, yikes!!
I did share that picture on Facebook and Instagram too I believe. That’s awesome, feel free to use anything, that’s awesome. My MIL paints and I love when she uses photos for inspiration. That’s SO thoughtful. xo

  • Thanks girl! Even the drive on the highway is quite pretty, too, but there’s just no where to pull over safely for a photo. I’m constantly, “STOP THE CAR!!” Lol!

  • Think horse but BIGGER. If you hit one with your car they fall into your car and you’ll unlikely survive a moose/car accident. They’re beasts! I’ll have to google what you’re talking about, it sounds funny. 🙂

  • Found it. Lolol!!

  • Thanks for stopping by girlfriend! I hope you have a wicked week. 🙂

  • They’re big and they’re not afraid of people AT ALL!! Tourists are sooo silly trying to get close for a picture. They snort and stamp their big ass hooves and they charge. They’ll kill you! But they’re so big and majestic, yet such odd creatures.
I hope you had a wicked weekend my friend. xo
