Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!!

Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird and I both introduced this link up back in late August, 2015 because we both thought it was good practice to reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, no matter how big or small.  Others enjoyed the theme and so, we thought it would be a good idea to create a link up and encourage others to share their happy/grateful things of the week, too.  If you missed it a few weeks ago, we have a third person that will be hosting with Krysten and I and she is a good friend of ours both.  Please welcome Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog who will now be hosting with us every week, so don’t forget to go visit her blog.  Charlotte is back from her wonderful vacation in Amsterdam so she will be likely hopping in on the fun this week again!

Sometimes all it takes is gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. I mean, we live in a world full of senseless violence, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I find, makes me open my eyes a bit more to appreciate the little things… Don’t you agree?

Please remember that this is not a link dump; if it’s not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week

  1. Last Friday evening, I had some play time with Ben, my pet sitting boss’ black Lab.  Whenever he sees me, I swear he thinks I’m a litter mate of his and he gets the sillies.Black Lab
  2. Friendly Siamese cats.  I just love em!Siamese Cat
  3. Spending a hooky day with Jeff.  They’re always so much better than actually going to work.
  4. Exploring new places.  Who knew such a gorgeous place existed not so far from where we live?
    Scarborough Bluffs Scarborough Bluffs
  5.  Running into an old friend on the train ride home Wednesday.
  6. Waking up in the middle of the night to find Baxter had brought a bone to bed.  Not the time or place, fella, at 3 a.m., but dang so adorable.  I couldn’t help but smile.
  7. Getting back into biking now that the nicer, spring weather is upon us.  We’re doing a 75 km charity ride the first Sunday in June.
  8. Getting back to the mat.  Yoga.  Somehow I always forget just how awesome I feel leaving class.  I must practice more yoga.
  9. Laughing like a crazed maniac with Jeff.  He accepts me through and through, even when I’m being silly or ridiculous.
  10. Deciding to say f it and not make egg muffins, bacon and put together salads and hard boiled eggs for lunch today.  We biked 15kms and I wanted nothing more than to veg and pass out when I got home.  So today, I buy breakfast and lunch.  I never, ever ever buy lunch.

– – – – –

I’m going out for lunch with my mom on Saturday for early Mother’s Day.  Jeff is going out for the day with his dad and brother to a shooting match and then I think afterwards, we’re going to head up north for the night to see Jeff’s mom who seems to be getting worse by the day.  Sad…  But anways… What have YOU got on the agenda this weekend?  Make sure it’s a good one, my friends. xo

  • Seems like you’ve had so much to be appreciative of this week! I especially love #4, it’s so great to get out and explore what’s near – and most of the time we are surprised about the beautiful places we find! 🙂

  • Sounds like you had a healthy week! I need to start working out more, but there’s just no time!

Ben is so cute and Hook Days are always fun. Jesse and I need to take a Hook Day together soon.

We’re leaving for Connecticut to see Jesse’s family and then coming home on Mother’s Day. Then my sister and I will be taking my mom out for an early dinner for Mother’s Day and her birthday (which is two days later).

    Have a great weekend!

  • Awwww, awesome list, my friend. I love love love that you and Jeff can giggle and be silly, especially after all these years. Since my human children aren’t able to come down for Mothers Day. I’ve decided to hang out at this dog beach most of the day. Wish me luck! The black lab is gorgeous btw. Have a good one my friend.

  • Dia

My weekend was not what I expected at all but it was still nice. I hope you had a wonderful time with your Mom. I could totally use a hooky day.

  • I took my mother and grandmother to lunch Friday for Mother’s Day and it was perfect! It was simpler than previous Mother’s Days, but I think it was probably the most cherished Mother’s Day we have spent together, and that is what counts.

  • Thanks for stopping by Lisa!! I hope you had a great weekend! Isn’t it crazy, there’s so much beauty all around yet most of us fail to see it.
    Have a great week hun!

  • I know what you mean, I often find myself saying that I wish there were more hours in the day. That or if someone could pretty please invent teleporting, which would make things much more convenient and you’d save loads of time.
    Have a great week hun!

  • Sounds like you had a nice weekend planned. I hope you had nice weather, too! 🙂

  • Lunch with my mom was great on Saturday.
Visiting the inlaws, it was a good half day/morning with my mother in law but it’s so sad. She’s ready to die but her body is clinging. Thank you for the kind words my friend. I hope you had a great one with your husband and kiddos. xo

  • Yeah… It’s a tough situation. She’s ready to die but her body just won’t let go. It’s so sad to see. She’s not the lady that I met 14 years ago…..
Yeah allergies and downward dogs aren’t very compatible! LOL! I hope you have a better week allergy-wise. Have a good one hun!

  • It is THE best when you can be completely 100% yourself and your partner can still love and accept you for being a clown. 🙂 We joke around so much and even play fight (we always have) and I’m sure to some, we must look ridiculous, but we’re ridiculous and perfect for eachother in every way possible.
Thank you for the kind words sweetheart, they mean a lot. I hope you had a great birthday weekend with your now TEEN! Ahhhh! 😉 xoxox

  • Thanks girl, and thanks for stopping by. 🙂 I hope you had a fabulous weekend my friend!

  • We are really clowns together. I’m the mostly serious one and when I let loose and learn how to laugh at myself, the carrying on we do with each other is so much fun and silly! I love it! I’m constantly up in Jeff’s grill trying to bother him/being a goof ball and he’s such a good sport.
That “little” black lab thinks I’m his litter mate! He literally gets the wiggles when I’m around and will not leave me alone and he’s only like that with me. Must be my charm! hahaha! Ben is so handsome! 🙂
I hope you had a good weekend lovey! xoxoxo

  • Thanks love. Boy yesterday was tough… they’re preparing my father in law for the end. I think it’s real close. Poor lady has suffered enough, she just wants to die at this point, every breath is a weezy struggle.

  • It makes life that much easier to manage and go through when you can find a partner that can joke and laugh and just be a big kid. To know when to be serious and to know when to lighten up and relax. I love that. 🙂
I hope you had a great weekend love! xo

  • Ben is such a handsome love. The shine in his coat is out of this world!
We had a good weekend being goofballs again. Sometimes, amidst all the serious junk, it’s nice to be able to just let loose and be a total goofball if I so choose. Jeff is so tolerant, I’m always up in his grill trying to annoy him/make him laugh. 🙂

  • Absolutely. 🙂 I hope you had an amazing weekend at the winery with your girls, Michelle! 🙂

  • Thank you, Ericka, always appreciate the love. 🙂 I hope you had a great weekend and have a great week, hun!

  • I hope you had a fabulous day with your fur-kids at the beach. I can’t wait to (hopefully) read all about it! 🙂

  • Take a hooky day, Dia! We all could use one from time to time, right?! Do it, you’ll be grateful you did. 🙂
Have a great week hun! xo

  • That sounds really lovely. On Mother’s Day, I miss my grandmothers terribly. My mom’s mother passed away in 1999 and my dad’s mother passed away in 2009. I did, however, have a nice lunch with my mom on Saturday and then we visited my mother in law yesterday and it was bittersweet (she’s ill and dying, so every day with her is a gift).
I hope you have a great week, Erin. 🙂 xo

  • What a great idea for a blog post and link party! It’s important to remember what makes you happy rather than dwelling on what constantly went wrong. Loved the story about pet-setting, that dog has the perfect look for attention on his face! 🙂

  • I’m guilty of being negative and sometimes find it more difficult to realise the good and thus this idea and link up was born.
Thank you so much for stopping by, I appreciate all your lovely comments. Pet sitting is my dream job; I hit the jackpot stumbling across that “job”.
    Have a great week, hun!

  • Keri Roberts

What a nice link party to be reminded to keep a positive perspective! How funny that your dog brought a bone to bed at 3 in the morning, although I’m sure, not at the time. It sounds like you had a lovely Mother’s Day. Thanks for sharing at Sweet Inspiration!

  • Why thank you Keri. 🙂
Our dog has brought a bone to bed, maybe three times in eight years. First, I was annoyed then it was just funny. He’s trying to get some time in on the bone so his brother doesn’t get on it first thing the next day. Lol! Thank goodness they’re cute or I’d be none to pleased to be woken up before sunrise.
