Happy Friday and Welcome to the ’10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week’ Link Up!!

Each Friday, Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird, Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog and I host a link up where we reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically in the last week.

Sometimes all it takes is gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. We live in a world full of disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I personally find makes me more aware and appreciative of the little things.

Don’t you agree?

When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.

I have plenty of things I’m happy and/or grateful for and they are:

1. A clean house, fresh flowers and being unpacked. Feeling good where life has currently brought me and us.

2. Getting back to the swing of things. I miss vacation and Barbados but it’s nice to get back to the norm, too.

3. Pet clients!! So much love last weekend.

4. Cuddles from the boys in between pet visits like I’ve never even left them. Love the welcome back lovin. 🙂

Bichons

5. Hanging out with Jeff and trying to figure out how we can live the life and never go back to reality aka work. Oh it is so damn depressing heading back to work after a nice, long vacation. Grateful for it, but dang it’s a struggle…!!

6. Catching up with coworkers and seeing what they’ve been up since I went away.

7. When Charlie comes up to me as I sit on the floor doing my make up and sits by my legs demanding love and attention. I can’t ignore that sweet face and those pleading eyes.

Charlie
8. Powering through a grueling bike ride in the humidity. Man did I want to throw in the towel and call it quits but I didn’t. #proudofmyself

9. Getting back to my regular gym schedule and classes. I stayed active swimming, walking and climbing stairs while away but nothing compares to Jillian Michaels BodyShred. It’s tough for anyone to get back to the gym, but I’m telling you words of encouragement: stick with it, it gets better!

10. Our divemaster and friend David hooked us up with a website that streams live cams of a bunch of spots al over island. I can actually watch my mom when she goes paddle boarding in February, how cool is that?! Plus watching the waves crash and that seductive blue water… It eases my longing to be there just a little… Yep, I’m whining. LoL

We have a three-day long weekend ahead, which is super sweet!  We’re heading up north tomorrow for a pistol match Jeff is competing in, and to see his parents and then back on Sunday to hang out at home and chill with the dogs.  Should be nice and relaxing.  🙂

What have YOU got planned for the weekend?  I really hope you have a fantastic weekend whatever it is you end up getting up to! Xo

I’m so jealous of your vacation but also so happy for you. We do not plan on taking any vacations for a while. Babies and weddings are expensive. Unless we decide to do a day trip or something, as of right now, I think our plan is to take a vacation in 3 years lol.

I’m so excited we get to paint Rory’s nursery this weekend. I’m dreading painting but I love the final outcome after a room has been painted.

  • Awesome! Have a fabulous 3 day weekend! I loved seeing all the pets you watched last weekend, and your two are just adorable.

  • I’m impressed that you have a clean house and that you’re unpacked already! I always drag my feet on that after a trip ha Happy Friday!

I would want to take Charlie everywhere I could take him! I just want to kiss that face!! Happy 3 Day weekend to you! Happy clean house! That’s what I will be doing this weekend, deep cleaning for house guests the next 2 weeks.

  • I’m just going to point out that it’s mildly creepy they have cameras and you’re being watched, lol. I was so ready to get back into our routine when we got back from Germany. SOOO ready.
Also, I told Teh German that if one day we get married and if we go on a honeymoon and it happens to be at a place where diving is possible, he needs to already have his dive cert(s). I looked into the prices and it’s at least $500 just for open water and my heart almost broke.

  • Uhm, that’s amazing re: livestream! It’s incredible what you can do nowadays thanks to modern technology, right?? And I always shuffle my feet after a vacation and feel as though half empty suitcase is on the floor for at least two weeks (whoops) so I’m also very impressed it’s all packed away 🙂 Hope you’re recovering and sounds like you have a very nice weekend ahead of you! XOXO

  • That picture of Charlie…straight to my heart! UGH, so cute! We bought bikes and holy crap was my crotch/butt sore after riding the first day (and not even for very long!) hahaha! So much TMI. Bahahaha. But I’m loving it and it makes me even more impressed with your big long bike rides!

Sweet boy! Such soulful eyes! Sometimes I want to quit life and be a wildlife photog for national geographic. LOL If I checked out those livestreams I would cry. Missing the water so much right now!

  • Humidity and ME = DO NOT get along so I give you loads of credit for powering through a work out in it!

  • Cathy C Bennett

It’s tough trying to transition from the life of the rich and famous (what I call vacation) back to the real (gotta make that money the ole fashion way) world…. I know your babies are thrilled to have you back again. I’m hanging out with my kids in VA this week – left the boys home with their Doodle Dad – starting to miss them a bit. Take care – enjoy your weekend XOXO

  • Thanks girl. You’ve got a lot on your plate over the next coming year, you can always worry about vacations later. Worry about the babe and wedding for now and the rest will follow. 🙂
I hope you’re staying cool in this humidity, I don’t know if you’re getting what we’ve had up here, it’s gross outside.
I hope you got Rory’s painting done this weekend, and if not, what’s next weekend for? 🙂
    xo

  • Thanks so much hun! 🙂 Was a great weekend indeed!

  • That’s one thing I can’t stand is having suitcases laying around, unpacked. I don’t care if I’ve got EMPTY cases laying around, I’d much rather have everything sorted for laundry, hung up or sorted and put in the appropriate places. I get such anxiety living out of a suitcase, either before a destination, at a destination or post trip, I guess I’m quirky like that. 🙂
I hope you had a great weekend Alexandra. 🙂

  • I would take the dogs everywhere I could if it was permissible. But with the heat right now, I always leave them at home in the AC to be cool as cucumbers. I don’t want any ‘hot dogs’…. LOL. Such a stupid joke.
I hope you had a great weekend despite all the cleaning you had to get done for your guests.
    XO

  • Christine Tatum

LOL!! Yeah, we keep our house at minus Artic degrees, too! It has been sooooo hot!! Ugh!

  • I could see how you think it’s creepy, yes, but the angles are so far away, you can’t make out people unless you’re that damn good or you tell someone to go out and start waving frantically. Which is probably what I’ll be telling my mom when she goes down in February. “Wave like a maniac so I know it’s you Mom, then carry on and have a fun time paddling… ” lol.
If you got proposed to, then you’d have to get the ball rolling and get the lessons in. The price is a bit much, right? I felt the same way when I looked it up here. Thankfully for our open water, my mom bought the both of us our lessons and pool training as a Christmas gift, so that eased the blow. It’s money well worth spent, though, you can’t argue with that.

  • There’s so many positives and negatives to technology but the live streaming it quite nice and I’m sure even for Bajan’s living outside of Barbados, it’s a familiar sight of home that I’m sure that brings joy. I know for us, it makes reality seem a little less dreadful. This North American way we live is just awful, it really is. It feels like SO long ago that we were away, but I guess that IS reality. Just makes me yearn to go back that much more strong. 🙂
    XOXO

  • That picture of Charlie is right… Looking at him in the photo, you can see it could go two ways: he looks like he could pounce and then start mouthing off and barking, “telling me off” Or it could go dismissive, if I talk to him a certain way, he’ll roll over and he’s like putty in my hands. 🙂 He definitely keeps us on our toes. lol.
I’ve been riding for over a year now and I can tell you that your crotch and ass will still hurt a year from now. Perhaps it isn’t QUITE as awful as when you first start out but you get used to it to some degree. Who invented those damn narrow “seats”, anyways? And padded shorts are SO attractive Mattie, let me tell you. LOL!

  • That’s it! I want to quit life and just BE. 🙂 Wouldn’t you just love travelling all over the globe and taking pictures of the beauty? That would be freaking incredible.

  • I don’t like it either, but it sure beats me bitching and complaining about it, so I power through and wonderful faces in exchange, as though I’m being tortured a slow death. I’m so dramatic. LOL!

  • It truly is. I find as I get old and the more I travel, coming back to this North American lifestyle where we hit the ground running and we’re go go go, it’s just really awful and I don’t like it one bit. It never slows or tires, life just keeps spinning a million miles at once.
I hope you’re having a wonderful time with the kids. I know your fur babes and husband are missing you, too, though, don’t kid yourself. It will be such a happy reunion amongst you all. Safe travels hun. XOX

No problem 🙂 And yes, as long as I try to stay indoors, I’m usually ok. And yes, thankfully we got all of the painting done. We seriously need to clean the house this weekend and then next weekend is filled with a grad party and a party for my sister’s birthday. Busy busy busy lol.

  • Don’t get me wrong, I love AC, especially for sleeping but when I have to constantly put a sweater on, it’s just a weeeee bit chilly. Lol

  • You’re always doing something… But, better busy than bored as sin.
I gotta say Heather, your baby belly is looking adorable these days. 🙂

  • Heather Hammel

Thanks girl! I’m just ready to have a full on round baby bump already though. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if I’m really pregnant or not by just looking at me (but obviously I am ha). I remember one of my cousin’s (whose first was a girl) didn’t really show until she was closer to giving birth. Like even at 6 months pregnant she had the smallest bump ever and could easily hide it with flowy shirts.

  • Careful what you wish for, you might just wake up one day and BAM, you’ve got a massive belly.
I love me some pregnant bellies, I think they’re so beautiful.
I used to work with a woman who was having twins and you couldn’t tell from behind she had a belly, it was only when she turned to the side and you were hit with reality that she was carrying several humans. 🙂
