10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week 25

Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!

Each Friday, Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird, Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog and I host a link up where we reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically in the last week.

Sometimes all it takes is gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. We live in a world full of disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I personally find makes me more aware and appreciative of the little things.

Don’t you agree?

When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.

I have plenty of things I’m happy and/or grateful for and they are:

1. Road trips up north and seeing the seasons changing.

2. Cooler weather and less humidity this week.

3. Meet my new little friend, my in-laws new dog, Buddy.  He’s such a happy, snugly guy.

4. Last Sunday’s drive home from up north.  We did a ton of driving last weekend but it was fun with Jeff and the sunsets were pretty incredible.

5. On Monday morning, we watched a co-worker’s brother compete in the 3000m steeplechase at the Rio Olympics.  e didn’t qualify for the final but my god, how impressive that he made it all the way to the Olympics!!

6. Reuniting with my gym posse on Monday.  We are all obsessed gym rats.  🙂  I’ve been sore all week, but that means I’ve been working hard and doing something right!

7. Having an even keel husband that knows when to give me space but also can get me to snap out of a negative or shitty mood.  I wrote a ginormous first part to the Barbados series and for some unusual reason, the draft reverted back to five days previous and the entire post was 90% lost.  I was devastated.  It must’ve been when there was a theme update or a wordpress update.  Whatever it was, it didn’t matter.  Everything was gone and I had to start over from scratch and it finally got posted on Wednesday.

8. Seeing my mom on Monday night before she left for a two-week trip to Cancun with my aunt.  We also chatted on the phone the next morning as she waited to board her flight.  I always miss the hell out of her when she’s gone, I’m such a momma’s girl.

9. Getting complimented by senior management for how healthy, fit and inspiring I am.  I was speechless, it totally made my day!

10. I had a headache for the majority of the last four days, along with weak and nauseous.  Thursday I called in sick and stayed home in my pajamas.  As irritable as I was, my boys always make me smile and they’re the best snuggle bums. 🙂

I’m pet sitting this weekend.  At the beginning of the week, there was 49 visits on the schedule and I was slightly freaking out and called in SOS to my boss and office manager.  It’s just not logistically possible as one person to do all those visits.  Anyways, now we’re sitting at 38 with the possibility of 6 getting cancelled due to the lady being in the hospital.  Saturday night I just might get some time to watch The Tragically Hip’s (an iconic Canadian band) last concert via satellite feed, which I’m excited for.  The lead singer wanted to do one last farewell tour because he’s dying from brain cancer and has just months to live.  The man sounds incredible, I once had the privilege of seeing them almost a decade ago and they were just fabulous.  Even better in person, enough to give you chills throughout your body…. Anyways, what have YOU got planned for the weekend?

I really hope you have a fantastic weekend whatever it is you end up getting up to! Xo

  • Someone from my hometown (well, technically the next town over) took SILVER in the steeplechase! It’s crazy! I didn’t get to watch as I was driving back to Michigan but I heard our local radio station talk through the final moments, which was still cool!

  • I heard about that concert! I hope you get to see it, and that your weekend isn’t too busy with visits. Although, I know you really enjoy them. Hope you’re feeling better. That headache sounded horrible. So awesome about the person you know in the Steeplechase!!!

  • How crazy to know someone (or know their brother, whatever) competing in the Olympics! Apparently someone from Oregon won gold which is the first time ever from our state. Not that I know them! I’m such a momma’s girl too. My mom is talking about going to Italy next year and I don’t want her to be gone that long and ALSO don’t like that she’s going by herself!!! So much worry.

  • Less humidity!!! Praise the universe.

    Have a great weekend!

  • # 7 = THE BEST!!!!! I have a fiance who’s very much the same. He gives me his space when I need it (and visa versa) but always has a way of perking me up and making me feel amazing even when shit’s going down!

  • It’s hard to believe the seasons are changing already!! Hope you have a great weekend coming up as well.

  • You inspire me, too, with how fit and healthy you are. I was going to bail on the gym tonight in favor of puppy snuggles, but you’re right. Time to drag my a** there; even if only for a short workout, it’s still better than nothing.

Hope you have a great weekend–and seriously that is SO amazing to know someone who competed in the Olympics! You’re now the second person to say that to me! And hope your mom has a great trip. Seriously, can I sneak in her suitcase… just once?? 🙂 XOXO

  • I’m so ready for a change in seasons! Allergies have been kicking my butt this summer, so fall… I’m ready for you! 🙂 And how cool about your coworkers brother! I remember seeing a classmate (we suffered through French in college together) in the London Olympics. She’s a swimmer and had been in the Olympics before that too. I don’t think she made it to the finals, but it was so cool to hear her name and see her swim in the Olympics.

  • #7 and #9 made me especially happy for you 🙂 XOXO

  • Brianna Wronko

    Buddy is absolutely adorable!

  • Mar

I still can’t get over how the leaves are already changing up north! As much as I am despising the heat this summer has brought us, it’s too early to start thinking about fall!

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

Good luck with your pet sitting this weekend and I hope your headaches stay away! Have a great weekend!

  • Really?! WOW! That’s pretty cool. The water jumps always had me cringing that someone was going to fall.

  • My weekend wasn’t too bad and it turned out I did have time to go watch the live fee of The Tragically Hip. The weekend was looking crazy but help came to the rescue and then I had 8 cancellations, so my schedule significantly improved. 🙂 I hope you had a nice weekend hun.

  • Shit, that means the Gold and Silver went to Americans, Katie said someone from her hometown won silver. What an achievement though, to make it to the Olympics.
Your mom would be going by herself? Whattttt?! That’s nutty. Tell her only if she keeps in touch with you so that you know she’s alright. Is she a smart/savvy traveler? It’s been a week since I last talked to my mom and I keep saying on the regular that I miss her. It’s starting to annoy Jeff. Oh well. lol

  • Thanks lovely! Just getting to this now.. eek! I hope you had a nice, relaxing weekend. 🙂

  • It’s a good balance, especially when both people are opposites. He can strengthen my weak points and vice versa. I just get so bent out of shape and often can’t get out of a funk and as annoyed as I am in the moment, he totally gets me to chill, which is exactly what I need. 🙂

  • Even the air is different, you can feel a bit of the coolness of fall.. It’s not far off at all.
Hope you’re having a good week Alex. 🙂

  • I aim to inspire. You’re right, a bit of time in the gym, getting your sweat is better than none at all, and you’ll feel better once you’re done. One of my motivators is that endorphin rush – I love that feeling after sweating my butt off. 🙂
I actually know someone else that competed in the Olympics, I think it was Atlanta or Sydney??? You know Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park? His wife, Emilie Livingston, I used to go to grade school and was friends with her. CRAZY eh?! 🙂
You and me both sister, I want to fit into my mom’s luggage too! She’s back in a week…. I miss her 🙁
Hope you’re having a good week love! xoxox

  • Thanks Penny. Headaches stayed away and the humidity dissipated, thankfully. And some visits were cancelled so it wasn’t nearly as busy as I thought it was going to be.

  • I’m seriously trying to count my blessings and not complain about the weather, because soon enough, that white crap will arrive and everyone will be complaining. A huge change this week with the humidity gone, it actually feels nice and there’s a breeze. It’s great! 🙂

  • He’s so cute! It was adorable how he clung to my husband and I like we were old pals. I always make fast friends with four-legged creatures. 🙂
    Have a great week Brianna!

  • I was happy that Jeff got me to snap out of it. He responds to my reactions and puts me in check when I’m not realising just how idiotic I’m being. Often times I just chalk it off to him nagging but that’s not it at all, he’s just trying to get me to change my perspective on things, that in the grand scheme of things, it’s NOT the end of the world. And I’m grateful for that.
    XOXOX 😉

  • Allergies have been TERRIBLE this year; I’m constantly blowing my nose much more than other years.
“You suffered through French..” That made me laugh LOL! I went to French immersion school from age 4 and graduated high school with a French immersion diploma. I hear you though.. 🙂 That’s so cool about your classmate. You know who else I know that has been to the Sydney Olympics? Jeff Goldblum’s wife… I used to go to grade school with Emilie. Wild, eh?
Cheers to a good week, girl! 🙂 xo

  • NO way! That’s so neat re: Emilie Livingston! I will always remember Jeff Goldblum as having the world’s biggest ears … I feel sometimes that mine are massive so I probably notice these things more than others 🙂

I’m actually dog/housesitting for my parents while they’re in Montreal. I’m glad they were able to go though it’s not my favorite, since I have to drive back and forth to care for Buster and Pedro (my parents’ dog). But to think they almost didn’t make it… well, it’s quite the turn of events 🙂

XOXO and hope you’re having a great week, my sweet!
