Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!

Each Friday, Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird, Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog and I host a weekly Friday link up where we reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week.

Sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. We live in a world full of disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I personally find makes me more aware and appreciative of the little things.

These posts make me super happy to reflect on the good and grateful things of the week.  I can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for.

Don’t you agree?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week:

1. Have you heard? Prison Break is coming back this April! I can’t wait, I love Wentworth Miller.

2. Spending the day with my mother-in-law. She’s in a much better place than two weeks ago. She’s finally coming out of her morphine haze. Not entirely, but you can actually have a conversation with her, which is nice.  Many thanks to all those that sent their best wishes. I appreciate them. On a similar note, I appreciate people’s well wishes, but please don’t say ‘I hope she gets better’, because reality is, there’s not a hope in hell she’s getting better. Lungs do not heal or regenerate; she is terminal and she will die. So forgive me if I seem harsh, cold or matter of fact, but that’s me being 100% transparent.  We all just want her to pass peacefully so she’s isn’t suffering anymore. This isn’t meant to be negative, but this is our reality.

3. Hushed, but deep conversations with Jeff about life and death, family…. hard conversations but necessary.

4. My friend Liane’s new HIIT class at the gym. Holy shit was it ever good but man was I sucking back wind the entire time. She killed me.

5. Getting the boys from my moms late Sunday night. I couldn’t not – I had to see my boy on his 9th birthday (Baxter).

6. Running into an old friend I hadn’t seen in at least three years.

7. Smiling more. It has brightened my days and others, too! #littlethings

8. Sundried tomato on pizza. It’s sooo good.

9. The hilarious conversations I have with some of my coworkers.

10. Finishing up our care package we’re sending down to Barbados for our friend and divemaster, David. I can’t wait to go diving again in 2018 (if we don’t do cold/fresh water diving here this summer).

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Do any of you have anything exciting planned for the weekend?

We haven’t got much on the agenda for the weekend. We both want to spend time cleaning and making space for his new desk that’s being delivered next week. Other than that, relaxation and rest. AND bathing the dogs. They just need a refresher. 🙂

Girl! If I could have a penny for every time someone tells me I hope you feel better soon, I’d be rich. Not any better, just rich! LOL And I can laugh about it because thats my life. I know things will only get worse. I am glad to hear she is in a better place. Sending love up her way. My baby is better and back at school so I can breath now and catch up on the million things I slacked on while he was home. Not gonna lie, I miss having him home with me. Im one of those moms lol. I have no idea what we are up to this weekend. Im sure we will find some kind of trouble to get into! XOXO

  • Sundried tomato is sooo good! My mom used to make homemade pizza (well, she didn’t make the dough) with artichoke and sundried tomato and roasted garlic and spinach…omg, SO SO good!

  • sweetsauer

Great job hitting the gym!!! And running into old friends can be so nice 🙂

  • I’m glad you got to spend some time with MIL. You don’t sound cold or harsh at all, just realistic. Sending lots of love your way! Sundried tomato pizza sounds delicious! And that workout sounds awesome! I felt like my workout yesterday was really half-assed (I’ve been dragging this week), but I still feel it today so it was definitely worth it!

  • Smiling more; the little things are needed extra around here today. 🙂 Hope your weekend is wonderful!

  • Just reading what makes others happy make me smile and happy myself. lol

  • What a wonderful list of joys, Lindsay 🙂 I run hot/cold with sundries tomatoes–sometimes we get along, some days, the taste drives me bonkers. For you, I’ll try again 🙂 they sound good on pizza.

As far as your MIL is concerned–of course, I understand. Sometimes people don’t know the right things to say (I admit, I’m probably in that category), but your family is in my thoughts <3

Love running into old friends! Think I'm going to meet up with Bashful Bold again this week, so many things happening in the world lately, it'll be great to catch up with her. Enjoy your weekend, momma! Xoxo

  • Those are all really happy things, Lindsay! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I’m glad to hear your MIL is more comfortable, and that you’re able to spend some quality time talking with her. Your #7 is great … so simple to do, and something that really works!

    Happy belated birthday to Baxter!

  • Thanks girl! Feel free to link up with us and share your happy/grateful moments anytime!
That’s awesome you launched your blog – lots of hard work! I’ll check yours out. Have a great day hun! xox

  • I hope your yoga class and race the following day was fabulous girl! I hope you’re having a great week. 🙂 xo

  • Did you end up going afterall or no? I looked amazing. I’ve read so many amazing posts of people attending marches all over the world and it’s truly remarkable and inspiring!

  • Hey girl,
We’re handling it as best as we can and know how. It’s just hard, you know? And if it’s hard on me and my hubby, you just know how hard it is for my father in law. He’s incredible.
I hope you’re having a good week, Jessica. 🙂 xox

  • Hey girl, anytime!
Yes, HIIT alllllllll day, e’ery day. Mother of God, I’m groaning, swearing and moaning the entire time but dammit I always feel marvelous afterwards. 🙂
I hope you’re having a great week, Erica!

  • I know I know, and I’m sorry if I’ve ever been the one telling you to feel better. I hope you always feel better but in the context of a period of time. I know you’re always going to be sick, especially as long as you need a new liver.
Thanks for your continued support always, I really appreciate it. And I’m glad, too, that she’s doing better than she was.
I hope you had a great weekend with the family and your week hasn’t been too shabby, love.
    XOXO

  • mmmm! That sounds soo yummy, although I’ve never tried artichokes in my life but am curious. We used to make our own pizzas as well, until we realised just how fattening they were! hahaha

  • Thanks girl, appreciate it. 🙂 I hope you’re having a fantastic week my friend!

  • Thanks girl, I appreciate your point of view. I didn’t think I was being harsh but just wanted to be clear and not have someone call me out for being an insensitive you know what.
How’s your week been going? A bit better than the last and less ass-dragging? 🙂
I hope you’re having a fantastic week my friend! xoxox

  • Abso-freaking-lutely. We definitely need more positivity, especially right now given the current state of what’s happening (what in frig is he DOING?!!?).
    I hope you’re having a great week hun! 🙂

  • Really? That’s awesome! 🙂 I really enjoy reading other people’s posts as well. Sometimes it can be big or minute, but every bit counts.
I hope you’re having a great week hun! xo

  • Gosh no, Charlotte, you’re not at all in that category. I find it’s people that aren’t really listening or reading what’s there and then I get the ‘hope she gets better’ comment and it’s like “Did you honestly just read that post?”. So don’t YOU worry, homie. Not at all. 😉
How was your evening with KATE?! You catch that <—? LOL I hope you had a fabulous evening with her. 🙂
I keep saying that every week is crazy and busy but I'm not sure that this will ever stop. I think this is the norm but I wish it would quiet down. Oh well, I guess it's good to be busy.
    Love you momma! xoxox

  • speak of the devil–i just sent you an email 🙂 do you ever get the “GREAT POST!” comments? Those are my favorites. Like, “WOW, bonus points for not paying attention to anything i wrote.” ugh. anyway, much love to you. let’s kick this week in the balls. lol

  • Those are the best. I love those emails too. Or the emails from people asking for internships and shit. Like come on!!! I’m not that retarded so why you playing me for a fool? It’s just damn funny!
    Yes!!!!
