10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week 23

Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!

Each Friday, Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird, Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog and I host a weekly Friday link up where we reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week.

Sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. We live in a world full of disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I personally find makes me more aware and appreciative of the little things.

These posts make me super happy to reflect on the good and grateful things of the week.Β  I can be having the worst of weeks but I always, alwaysΒ manage to find things to be happy or grateful for.

Don’t you agree?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

We have aΒ *NEW* image for winter – feel free to grab and use it, too!

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week:

1. Late night walks with jeff and the fluffs.

Blog Paws Wordless Wednesday

2. Crawling into bed on a weekend afternoon to nap with one of the dogs = priceless. #heaven

3. Doggie play dates.

4. Treating myself to a green smoothie. Mmmm.

5. Cake! I had TWO slivers of cake for celebrations this week. #spoiled #moderationiskey

6. Quiet dayS (yes, plural) at work when people are at conferences or training make me so happy.

7. Visiting my mom but in particular, her dog Quincey, who just had surgery on Wednesday for old man bumps and lumps all over his body. Quincey was my last Bichon I had under my mother’s roof. We’re pals, Quincey and I. When I lived at home up until about 10-11 years ago, Quincey was always upstairs with me in my room.

8. Making plans for a week from today and booking the day off to celebrate Jeff’s 40th birthday (which is January 31st). I kinda want to do something special for my guy, he definitely deserves it.

9. Looking forward to seeing my good friend Kelly this weekend!!

10. Buttoning up some legal documents with Mom. It makes me happy when mom is happy and she’s feeling secure with her decisions. J

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Do any of you have anything exciting planned for the weekend?

So instead of bathing the dogs last weekend they went out for a late night walk last Saturday evening and got filthy dirty but boy were they happy fluffs. So I definitely have to bathe them tonight because a friend of mine is coming to see them tomorrow for a sleepover (#9). Jeff is up north this weekend and I’m hanging back.

I had piece of cake the other day and that made me happy. I’m not supposed to eat sugar on daily basis. So, this was a nice treat to my sweet tooth. Also, I just recovered from a bad flu.

Shawn just turned 39 on Wednesday! He’s freaking out that this is his last year in his 30’s LOL. Happy Birthday to your man πŸ™‚
Have you seen that dog called Quincy on facebook? It’s a college student I believe and his dog that looks very similar to your mom’s Quincy – and his name is Quincy too. They make short little videos and they’re hilarious. Look them up. I think it’s just Quincy.
Cake is always good. So damn good.
I hope that you have a good weekend with your friend. Hope that the sun finds you..then send that mo fo my way!! Please!! With cake πŸ™‚ xoxoxoo

  • Aww hope you have a great birthday and enjoy some time with your gf soon! Also Jeff’s turning 40! That’s exciting–what are you thinking about doing for him?? I love a good surprise party (may soon start planning one for my poppa who turns 70 in April!).

Also I’m thinking I need to invest in a green smoothie, too–my body really needs it! Awww, the fluffs <3 Hope Quincey feels better soon and recovers quickly. I know it's harder for our seniors!! <3

  • I hope Jeff has a wonderful birthday! 40 is a big one! What do you have planned? I will be 41 on Feb. 19th…eek!
    Also, that photo!! So cute!
Have a fab weekend, sweetie! xxx

I joined the link-up! (I hope it’s okay!). It’s not structured like yours, but it’s a thankful/things I’m loving post! If not, feel free to delete!

This week, I’m thankful for upcoming snow!! (I’m craving a Snow Day!)

  • I hope Jeff has a great birthday! Sounds like you had a great weekend. Weekend afternoon naps with a dog are the best.

  • And now I want cake. Hahaha! Family dogs have such a special place in the heart. I miss my dog from growing up so much! Have a great weekend! πŸ™‚

  • FRIDAY! This week took so long I also treated myself. Not cake, but I may have ended dinner with a root beer float with alcoholic root beer πŸ™‚ Hope your weekend is amazing!

Its just rude to pass up cake, I mean cake is a celebration right? LOL. Happy Birthday to Jeff and love to the fluffies! I hope you had a great weekend!

  • It’s a nice treat now and again eh? I’m not huge into sweets but a sliver isn’t nice every so often. Recovering from the flu is a great thing. Hopefully you weren’t sick for too long.

I hope you’re having a great week hun.

  • Oooh! My man just turned 40 yesterday so I’ve been razzing his ass all week long. Haha!
I’ve not seen this Quincy dog you speak of but I’ll have to look him up now! Thanks for sharing, im sure ill love him. πŸ™‚
It was sunny for brief periods today but damn it’s cold.

Hope you’re doing well this week lovey. xox

  • I lied, I had cake twice last week. #spoiled Now I won’t want any for a coons age.
Thank you! He had a nice day and evening. He’s a happy man. πŸ™‚
I haven’t checked FB today but I’ll check to see how your day was (with you being in the hospital.

    Much love my friend.

  • Jeff had a nice birthday he said, low key but that he enjoyed himself. πŸ™‚ I had a surprise party for him for his thirtieth and frankly, our friends have dwindled over the years so…
Wow, a surprise bash for your Dad. That’s going to be HUGE. How many people do you think will attend and do you have places in mind?
Get a green smoothie girl. Have something sweet in it with it, tho, like mango and it’ll taste less tart or gritty.

Quincey is doing better. First couple of days he looked really rough with the swelling around his eye (he had a cyst removed from his eyelid) and he had trouble getting comfortable sleeping… but he’s better. Mom says he’s always better when I come over; he’s so my big suckie. Stitches come out next Tuesday and Mom leaves for Barbados the following day. The nerve of her… lol

    Happy almost Friday love πŸ™‚

  • Hey love,
Spent last Sunday with jeff and Tuesday evening we also went out for a nice Italian dinner. We didn’t do anything over the top, just low key. I had a surprise 30th for him and there was no way I’d do another one, plus our friends have dwindled over the years so inviting people out would have been interesting.

I hope you’re having a great week hun. Happy almost Friday! πŸ™‚

  • Of course it’s okay!! πŸ™‚
Oooh, did you get snow? We never ever get snow days. Actually that’s a lie. When I was a kid, we never had snow days, we just had to suck it up. Nowadays, buses are cancelled even if it looks like its icy out. I hope you enjoyed your day off if you got it. πŸ™‚

  • Thanks Crystal. He did have a great day and he also celebrated with his family last weekend.

I really had a tough time falling out of bed this morning with such a warm, snugly dog (Baxter) beside me. But at least it’s almost Friday. πŸ˜‰

  • You know, I’ve always wanted to try a float but never have. Not too many places make them around here…. but it sure sounds good. I never used to like root beer when I was younger but love it now. My palate has changed a lot though since I’ve gotten older.

I hope your week has been great! See you tomorrow πŸ˜‰ xo

  • You have my permission to go eat cake. Now GO. I had a sliver of tuxedo cake last week and then another at our work luncheon where we got the January birthday babies a cake. Totally worth it. But I missed out on the delicious carrot cake but just as well…. lol!

Do your parents have any dogs now that you’ve moved out and grown up? My mom can’t quit dogs and thus she hasn’t three: 13, 6 or 7 and then a 2 year old. I used to live at home still when Quincey was young. He’s totally my boy and always gets so excited when I see him. I love it.

I hope your week has been good, hun. Happy almost Friday! πŸ™‚

  • My mom has a little tiny purse dog now! Haha. She got her a few months after our family beagle passed away. She’s cute and really loves me (always has, we think maybe there was someone my age at her old “home” who she loved, though she was over-bred like crazy there) so I love her, but it’s not like the bond with a dog you live with for years!

Happy almost Friday to you too!

  • So glad to hear he had a nice birthday! Low-key is the name of the game for me over the years, to be honest! Not sure what to do re: Poppa–definitely planning on inviting the whole family, and maybe a few of his friends (he doesn’t have too many… my mom is really the social butterfly in that relationship!). I’m thinking probably like 20 people or so?

OMG, I spend a small fortune on smoothies / wellness drinks last week–they helped! THANK GOD!

So glad to hear that Quincey is doing much better, poor guy. Aww, love that he’s your suckie. Hope he recovers after the stitches come out and he feels more like his ol’ self. YOUR MOM IS AMAZING. XOXO!!

  • Aww! So your mom rescued her. Good for your mom. I totally get what you mean. Once you move out, it’s not the same anymore. They’re not ‘your’ dog. You still love them nonetheless but it’s different.

I hope you had a great weekend! πŸ™‚

  • Having a nice, intimate affair with a small number of your dad’s friends and family sounds lovely and just like the perfect thing to do for him. He’ll love it, Charlotte. You’ll have to get on the planning of that as soon as your Jamaica trip is over.

Quincey is doing okay. Gets his stitches out tomorrow. He irritated some of the belly stitches so they got infected and bloody on Friday but he’s been good since. I’ll have to get my aunt to keep an eye on him during the days starting Wednesday. Moms going to Barbados on Wednesday (for three weeks) and with freshly taken out stitches and tender spots all over, I don’t want to come home from work one evening and he’s torn all up and hurt himself. I’m sure he’ll be alright though. πŸ™‚

  • That’s what I thought, too πŸ™‚ our birthdays are actually one day apart–mine is April 3rd, and his is April 4th, and we usually celebrate together… but for a big one, he needs his own day πŸ™‚

That’s great that your aunt is at least close enough to keep an eye on little Quincey. Poor thing! I’m sure he’ll recover quickly though–this is always just the hard part because it requires a lot of monitoring. Keep me posted on the little guy!!

XOXO and hope you have a great week, my sweet!
