Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!

Each Friday, Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird, Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog and I host a weekly Friday link up where we reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week.

Sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. We live in a world full of disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I personally find makes me more aware and appreciative of the little things.

These posts make me super happy to reflect on the good and grateful things of the week.Β  I can be having the worst of weeks but I always, alwaysΒ manage to find things to be happy or grateful for.

Don’t you agree?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week:

1. Going out for dinner on my own to this delicious raw food restaurant (that I’ve raved about before, too).

Rawlicious

2. Attending an informative seminar on canine attendant care, dog behavior and self-defense. Β I’m came away armed with more information and tools should I ever need to break up a dog fight or if I get involved in an altercation with a dog myself.

3. Snuggling on an (uncomfortable) love seat with Baxter in my left arm and Charlie nestled in the crook of my legs. πŸ™‚

4. Receiving and then opening my Galentines gift. Β I’m feeling pretty spoiled with what Janell sent to me. I will be revealing that later next week so stay tuned. Β (Part of ny gift was the gratitude journal in #4.)

5. I have been working in my daily gratitude journal (that Janell sent me) and I love this gift so much. I practice gratitude always but on a daily basis has been insightful and fun, too!

6. Elephant print bath towels. πŸ™‚ #ElephantsEverything

7. Following along with a friend who was attending the Westminster Dog Show earlier this week was so much fun. I must get out to New York someday to attend (and of course, stay in the one of the two hotels where all the dogs and their handlers stay). *swoon*

8. Spooning and cuddling with my fluffs in bed. #yesmydogssleepewithme

9. Salted caramel squares for Valentines. Mmm. Light but so delicious.

10. I am grateful for my mom and even though she’s thousands of miles away, she still calls me almost daily

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Do any of you have anything exciting planned for the weekend?

We have a three-day long weekend here in Ontario and I couldn’t be more excited!

I am meeting with some old co-workers I used to work with oh, say, 17 years ago, we’re all going to dinner tonight.Β  Jeff and I are both doing an action shooting match on Saturday morning, Sunday who knows and Monday is ‘Family Day’.

Have a fabulous weekend!

  • I’d love to take a dog course like you did! That’s sounds so helpful and essential for someone who does dogwalking like you do! πŸ™‚ I love all the doggy snuggles on your list too. That’s always the best! And it’s so cool that you and your mom check in pretty much daily.

  • Happy Friday!!! πŸ™‚ Love your bath towels, and you may need a new love seat girl…uncomfortable is not what they’re supposed to be. πŸ˜‰ xoxo

  • Leah

I keep a bullet journal and write three things I’m grateful for each day in it. Some things from this week include: naps, health insurance, the library, and avocados!

  • jennadesigns

Added my link – thanks! Love reading what others did/are thankful for during the previous week … we all need a little more positivity in our world!

  • Aww I love all of the things on your list!!! I have a thing for elephants, too–would love tosee one up close! They are so cute and majestic, aren’t they? Keep thinking about getting a tattoo with a baby ellie <3

Damn it–missed the dog show again! One of these days πŸ™‚

What a sweet friend Janell is! Thinking about journaling again, too myself…. xoxo and hope you have a great weekend! !

  • Sounds like you have a great weekend planned! I also love elephants…the twins’ room is decorated with them. Now I need to find towels! Can’t wait to read about the gift you got! ps. Moms are the best!

  • Jewels Rhode

So many things to be grateful for. I’m thankful for a loving friend group. I had an awesome vision board dinner party with friends on Valentine’s Day.

  • i need to do #1 very soon as new raw place just opened up here. have a lovely weekend.

  • Plans this weekend – walk today (Saturday), laundry, seeing The Little Mermaid musical tomorrow night, and enjoying Monday off! Enjoy your long weekend, too!

  • stephanieabills

This is such a great post idea! Love that your spreading around such positivity. Elephants are my favorite!

  • Lovelovelove the attitude of gratitude – it makes a real difference!

    Coming Up Roses

  • I love your thankful things! Especially number three — it’s funny how we animal lovers will put up with being uncomfortable if it means getting some cuddle time with our pets. Your number 10 is great, too. My family lives on the other coast, too, so I know what it’s like to be so far away. It’s awesome that you and your mom keep in such close contact. Love that!

  • Fist, my daughter is going to need those elephant print towels! And also, I really need to start a gratitude journal. That is such a great idea!

  • Hey girl, holy smokes what a doozy of a week. How was yours?

Last weekend I was off entirely and had three days to myself. This Saturday evening is my sleepover at the farm with the dane and company. *swoon*
I LOVE the relationship that my mom and I have and am blessed. She’s always been my mom and dad both and she’s such an inspiration. I only wish everyone had a relationship with their parents like I do. πŸ™‚

I hope you and your crew are good hun. xoxo

  • They’re not common, they’re definitely more popular and there’s more draw to have a place like that in densely populated places wher trendy things pop up. I’m just north of Toronto and I don’t know how we do, but we have two raw restaurants. Or at least we did, I’m not sure if it’s still around the second place.

It’s such good, dense and nourishing food. πŸ™‚

  • Me too. They’re on my daily fave list. I swear one of my boys is my shadow, he’s always stuck to me like glue but you know what? I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way. πŸ™‚

I hope you’ve had a great week hun.

  • I think those kinds of courses are starting to pop up more. I took a pet first aid course with the same organization a couple of years ago. The woman that runs it used to be an animal control and cruelty investigation officer so she definitely knows her stuff and I love her style and how she looks at dogs in such a simple but effective manner. It was so helpful and I definitely learned what to do if I’m ever attacked. It’s funny because I’m picking up on subtle cues ALL THE TIME NOW watching other dogs. πŸ™‚

I hope you’ve had a good week. I have tomorrow off which makes for a nice and super short work week. Yahoo! Have a good evening hun xox

  • Selma, my mother’s rational for buying ridiculously disproportion furniture to the size of her house is stupid. ALL FIVE dogs try and sit with me on the love seat. But I’m always telling my mom I’m surprised she doesn’t have a bigger couch. She says they all sit on her anyways, so what’s the point. LOL. It’s only uncomfortable IF you lay down and fall asleep. You wake up and your neck is ruined lol!

Again, so glad to see you on here. πŸ™‚ xox

  • That’s such a good practice and something I’m now doing daily, instead of just weekly. Naps are DIVINE, I hear ya sista. Insurance is always good, the library is always full of great things and avocados are the BOMB. πŸ™‚
I hope you had a great week hun.

  • The salted caramel squares were actually even on the HEALTHY side, from the raw food restaurant. They’re delish. I have to try my hand at making them, keyword TRY. LOL

Thanks girl, I can’t wait to share. I was so spoiled. Loved it and would totes do it again next year. πŸ™‚

  • Welcome and link up as often as you’d like. πŸ™‚
I whole-heartedly agree. I hope you’re having a great week and wish you a wonderful weekend.

  • Six days later, here I am. Hiiii. LOL
I would love to see an elephant in Kenya. I love all kinds but love the Africans. Specifically, I would love nothing more than to go to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see all the eles they’ve saved. If you don’t follow them, you definitely should. Elephants are just precious…I have a massive book at home of a compilation of studies that were done over decades of research… I can barely have an intellectual conversation about elephants because I cry.
I’d been dreaming about an elephants tattoo on my ribs for ages. On my back would be great but I’m not sure that’s something I want to add color to….

    Next year, Charlotte. lol

Journaling short entries daily I’m enjoying thus far. I may not keep up with it long term but it’s working for me now. πŸ™‚

    xoxoxo

  • Do you ever take the kids out to the zoo or are they too boisterous yet to enjoy it? πŸ™‚

  • Both of those things sound fabulous. Apologies for such a late reply. I hope you’re having a fantastic week. πŸ™‚

  • GO, girl. Check it out and let me know how it is. It’s just such filling, nutritious food; I love it. πŸ™‚ I hope you’re having a great week hun. πŸ™‚

  • How was the musical? I bet it was pretty great. Loved watching that movie, I haven’t seen it in ages and maybe will this weekend as my hubby is up north.

    I hope you’re having a great week Ericka. πŸ™‚

  • Totes!! πŸ™‚ I hope you’re having an awesome week, Erica. Sorry for the tardy reply, it’s been one helluva week!

  • Thanks very much, I think it’s really good practice. I get down or stressed frequently so it helps to be reflection on the good and positive. πŸ™‚
    I hope you’re having a great week!

  • I would do anything for the comfort of my dogs. HAHA! My husband moves around a lot when he sleeps so the dogs don’t snuggle him too, too much but with me, I move, they move. They move, I move. It’s all a dance. lol
Technology can be a nuisance at times but it’s incredible what we can do and what we have at our finger tips.

  • I got them at a store called Winners. $12 each and totally adorable. πŸ™‚

I hope you’re having a great week hun.

  • I’ve never heard of that wildlife page, but I’m following them now–omg, all of the baby ellies and their trunks <3 SO precious. awwww, i love that you are so passionate about them. they are so close to extinction so they need more people lobbying on their behalf.

sending much love your way… and good on you for the journaling! that's wonderful πŸ™‚
