10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week 17

Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!

Each Friday, Krysten from Why Girls Are Weird, Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog and I host a weekly Friday link up where we reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week.

Sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. We live in a world full of disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – reflecting on the positive, I personally find makes me more aware and appreciative of the little things.

These posts make me super happy to reflect on the good and grateful things of the week.  I can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for.

Don’t you agree?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

We have a *NEW* image for winter – feel free to grab and use it, too!

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week:

1. A new lap top.  Nothing fancy but it gets the job done.  My last one was on its last legs for a long time and then finally last week, it bit the bullet.

2. I finally connected with my good friend Charlotte on Skype.  I loved our conversations and look forward to many more in the future. 🙂

3. A sleep over at the farm.  <3 My happy place.

4. Another awaesome Netflix original, Santa Clarita Diet with Drew Barrymore.  You gotta watch it, it’s hilarious. 🙂

5. Getting drunk with family and celebrating my mother-in-law’s life last weekend…

6. Having supportive family, friends and co-workers.

7. Katy Perry’s Chained to the Rhythm. I loooove that song right now.

8. I am grateful for my dogs and the comfort they bring us, especially during tough times.

9. My mom is back from her three week-long trip to Barbados.  I cannot wait to give her the biggest hug when I see her later today.

10.  A peaceful passing for my mother-in-law.  While it is very sad, it is also such a relief that she’s no longer suffering and she’s finally free from the clutches of that horrible disease that is COPD.

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

This afternoon I’m driving back from up north and working my pet sitting job this weekend.  It’ll be some good therapy and a welcome distraction to what the last week has been like.  It’ll also be nice to get back home and try to get back to “normal” and feeling human again.

Have a fabulous weekend my friends, make it a good one!

  • Thinking so much about you, sweet friend <3 i loved our Skype sesh, too, and look forward to the next. I know you must have so many thoughts about your MIL's passing… I just hope it's a relief for the family that she is no longer suffering and in pain.

All my love to you, sweet friend, and hope you are able to take care of yourself this weekend, okay? XOXO

  • I am so sorry about your mother-in-law! I know where you’re coming from… it’s hard to lose someone you love, but there’s also a comfort in knowing that they’re free from what has afflicted them and they’re at peace. When my grandma died (years ago–I was a teenager) it was so hard to say goodbye to the only grandparent I had a chance to meet, but she had dementia and so it was also a relief to know that she was no longer with that. Still sending love, prayers and virtual hugs your way. Enjoy time with your sweet pups. And your mom when you see her! It must feel great to have her back!

  • I’m so sorry to hear about your loss – I just read your previous post and then came here to see if there was an update. It’s always hard to see a family member go but it is good to try to see the positive side, with the ending of pain. Sending hugs your way!

  • I am happy your mother-in-law is no longer suffering. Peace and love to you and the family as it’s much harder to be left behind.

  • Again I am so sorry for all you have been going through lovely. It does always help to make a list of things that make us happy. Gad your mum is back to give you hugs. Take care!

  • I love that you are able to find thankful things in the midst of such great loss. Much love and peace to you.

  • So sorry to hear about the passing of your mother-in-law. That is awesome though that y’all celebrated her life. I feel that always makes things better during a sad time. Remember the good times though it hurts. New laptops are always great!! You had a great week with your family!

  • Thanks very much hun. We did, in life and in death. We’ll be celebrating in spring with family when it’s nicer out, too.

  • Thanks Sam, I appreciate you stopping by. 🙂

  • Hey lovey,
I kept busy last weekend and that helped. I’m still tired and I’ve got a damn cold right now which isn’t helping. How is it already almost the NEXT weekend?! I’m happy for it but still.. I think it was because I was at that program Tuesday/Wednesday.

  • Thanks so much for your words of comfort, hun. I was blessed to have met three of four grandparents but it still hurts losing a person you care and love.
I hope you’ve had a good week hun. Xo

  • Thank you for the kind words hun, I appreciate them immensely. Death is so strange, though. It was a week ago today she died and yet it feels like she’s been gone longer, yet not.

  • Thanks so much hun, I appreciate the kind words of comfort. xox

  • Thank you Kevin, I appreciate the kind words.

  • It was great in the moment, absolutelty. Gosh she would’ve hated knowing we all just watched her go over the course of four days. But we couldn’t not be with her. Watching someone slowly die, though, gosh that’s hard. Sorry, just venting hun. Thanks so much for the kind words. Xo
