Hello my friends and welcome. It was a pet sitting weekend this last one. It was busy, but not insane like others where I feel as though I need to clone myself. So let’s get to it!

So here’s the deal for any new readers here. Pet sitting is my part-time, fun “job”. I work one weekend a month, every four weeks (and sometimes more often, if it is needed and I am available) and have been doing so for the almost five years. It was a job that I stumbled upon I guess at the right time and I feel so blessed to be doing it. I get to spend time with animals and anyone that knows me well will tell you that my heart is with four-legged creatures. There’s just something so special that I cannot put into words about how I feel when I’m around animals. What can I say? I am animal mad in every sense of the word. I physically cannot walk past a dog in the street without stroking it and I’ve been known on many occasion to stop the car and get out and ask to pet your dog. Yes, I am THAT person. And, FUNNILY, despite being allergic to cats, I still cannot resist a sweet, fluffy purring love.

Weekend Stats:

  • Number of booked visits: 34 in total. Four on Friday, 15 on Saturday and 13 on Sunday.
  • Animals: The usual, dogs and cats, a pair of chinchillas and a yellow napped amazon bird.
  • Distance driven in weekend (Friday night at 6 pm to Sunday night at 10 pm): 326 kms
  • Weather: Your typical Canadian winter weather (Ontario). It was – 15 Celsius with a wind chill Saturday morning and then on Sunday it was a bit more mild, but It was still damn COLD!

Once again, it is a photo heavy post so if you’re not into that kind of thing or you’re worried about me hogging your bandwidth, you should click away in 5…..4…..3…. 2…… 1.. If the pictures aren’t showing, click on the words and you’ll get a pop-up photo window. Sorry!

Friday night

Chester

Chester

Later on Friday night, I went over to my mother’s and stayed with her so she could make sure I was eating and getting rest.  The boys were looking pretty disheveled but I was so happy to see the boys after having been out of town up north from last Wednesday to Friday.

Charlotte Charlotte and Jack

Jack likes to sweat the rest of his feline siblings as they eat.  He feigns that he’s starving and never gets fed, but it’s quite the contrary.  He’s incorrigable, if nothing else. 🙂

Pet Sitting Pet Sitting

The lady that lives at this home just loves feeding wild birds and among them are turkey.  Yes, she feeds wild turkey.  I’ve been to her house a few times but have never seen them.  I’m told from my boss that they often will just literally appear out of nowhere when you put their food down.  Maybe someday I’ll see them….. Birds

Miss Ginger, a sweet but spunky old gal.

Siamese Siamese

Siamese cats.  Gosh I love Siamese, but I find they are usually one way or the complete opposite.  Super shy and illusive, i.e. like these three ladies or they are super friendly (not these ladies lol).

You may not always see them but they are always watching you.  It’s a bit creepy, honestly.  🙂

Oh Jack

Oh Jack

This cat (Jack) is something else altogether.  He’s always on your heels, sweating the ladies while they eat or just trouble.  I walked upstairs in the home on Saturday evening and found a roll of paper towel unraveled, to which I exclaimed, “Oh Jack…..” LOL

Boo the black cat

Can you even see Boo (^)?  She’s a super shy cat that likes it when you come to her.  Once she gets to know you, she’ll come out of hiding.  But as you know, black pets are super hard to photograph well so I never, ever get a good photo of her.

Border Collie

This Border Collie was a handsome fella but I could not get very close to him.  Oh the teeth he was showing when I walked in.  One, we had never met before and two, the couple that owns him had a new baby, thus he’s protective as all hell of his people and his home.  I had two visits with this guy and I know that with a few more, we would’ve been friends.

Check out around 4:58 in the video to see how innocent Ms. Millie look after I found her auto-feeder toppled over.  Girlfriend was apparently hungry and wanted more, clearly. lol

And now, here are some photos from two weekends ago when I was at the farm house with my favorite family of five canines.

Needless to say, you know I didn’t move for awhile with a Dane snuggling up to me.  It was heaven. 🙂

How was your weekend? Yep, I know it’s Thursday. I’m so not on the ball this week, or any week right that matter, let’s be honest.

Well, that’s it for pet sitting now, until I post again after the last weekend of March.

Hope you’re all having a great week! xo

  • Haha. Our Gracie does the same thing to her sister Zoe that Jack does to his siblings. How nice of that lasy to feed those turkeys. There are actually some that hang out in the parking lot of the train station here; I say hi to them nearly every morning.

I loved your video, Lindsay. The look on Millie’s face — priceless!

Hope your weekend is going well. Stay warm (or try to, anyway). We are supposed to get a big snowstorm here Monday night/Tuesday. Hopefully, I will be able to work from home, so Gracie and Zoe can “help” me. 🙂

  • It’s kind of comical but it’s a struggle trying to keep the ones that think they should eat allllll the food away from others, the ones that casually and slowly like to enjoy their food. Not around Jack and I imagine it’s the same for Gracie. Lol

The turkeys by your trainn must be fairly tame if you see them there often. I wonder if someone is feeding them…

I’m glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂

I was sick all weekend with a bad cold and thus, holding down the couch with the dogs keeping me all nice and warm. It was nice despite being sick. 🙂

I hope you get a snow day. We didn’t get as much snow as they predicted, but it sure is cold!!

    Stay warm. 🙂
