10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week 42

happy

Happy Friday and Welcome to the 10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week Link Up!

Each Friday, for the last 83 Friday’s (since August 2015), I’ve been hosting this lovely little link up with a trio of friends but sadly, the time has come for some changes and we have decided to go our separate ways, so…. today I’ve got the link up live and going, but beginning next Friday, March 24th, you will see a new, revamped link-up that is being hosted by yours truly, as well as Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog and Christina from The Brave Wanderer.

This Friday link up has always been a place where we reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week.

Sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that make us grateful or appreciative. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it.  Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more aware and appreciative of the little things.

These posts have always made me super happy to reflect upon the good and grateful things of the week. I can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for.  I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

10 Things That Made Me Happy This Week:

1. Getting things off my chest felt amazing last week.  Sometimes you just have to walk away from friendships because they’ve run their course.  That’s something I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older.  And you know what? I’m at peace with that.  It doesn’t miss I don’t miss these people or hate them, not at all.  Point blank, if the friendship isn’t reciprocal, BYE BYE.  Life is too short for games, drama or BS.

2. Going to the gym with my momma last Saturday morning.  I was sick with a bad cold (and still am, dammit) but my motto has always been to try and sweat it out.  I don’t know how I made it a full sixty minutes of BodyPump, but I did.  Afterwards, we detoxed in the sauna and then I went home to rest with the dogs.  It was a nice morning. 🙂

3. Catching up with a friend I haven’t seen in over six weeks.  It was so nice to see her, have a coffee and love on her pups that I’d missed so much.

4. Naps.  All the naps in the last week.  I caught a bad sinus cold late last week and it has been destroying all my energy, so napping on the daily has been almost essential.

5. Celebrating a dog birthday with family.  Yep, we are those people.  It was for my mom’s eldest, Quincey, who turned 13 this week.

6. Looking forward to this weekend and celebrating 15 years being together with Jeff.  (Our dating anniversary is today!)

7. Non-judgmental, supportive friends. <3

8. I got my hair trimmed and highlights on Tuesday evening at my friend’s hair salon.  Love a fresh cut and color.  Makes a girl feel like a million bucks!

9. We knocked one more thing off of our camping list for the end of June – we purchased all of our dehydrated food and even saved about $50 doing so.

10. Discussions and clarity at my workplace.  I definitely walked away feeling better about the situation.

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Today is Jeff and I’s 15th dating anniversary!!  I can’t believe it.  We met fifteen years ago at a house party and we were inseparable for four days.  Every day with Jeff gets better and better and I truly look forward to growing old and celebrating life’s adventures alongside my dear best friend.  Here’s to many more!

The rest of the weekend we’ll be resting, cleaning, grocery shopping and just trying to get over this bad-ass cold that we’ve had for over a week now.  It’s a doozy.

What about YOU?  What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend my friends, make it a good one!

ANNOUNCEMENT:

I also excited to announce that my friend’s Charlotte, Christina and I have formed a new blogging group on Facebook called The Peaceful Posse. The intended purpose of this group is to be a safe and supportive place for bloggers to come hang out, share their posts, interact with others and much more. The three of us have banded together to form a new and welcoming group where there is no drama or bullying.

Please join us, we’d love to have you. 🙂

  • Yes yes yes, a thousand times yes to #1. I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older that I would rather put effort into a few really great relationships than spread myself out for those who don’t bother back. And I’m looking forward to all of your new things! I just saw your FB request and would love to join the new group. And lastly, happy dating anniversary!! My 12 year is coming up next month. I love hearing when other couples still acknowledge their dating anniversary 🙂

  • Happy happy anniversary to you both <3 Hope you guys do something wonderful to celebrate. And congrats on getting a heardstart on your camping adventure! Can't wait to hear more about that. Thanks for the reminder, too, that I desperately need a haircut. Like, for reals. I've been wearing a beanie and sidebraid like it's going out of fashion 🙂

  • Happy anniversary! And yes, yes, YES to your #1. As I’ve gotten older, I have come to realize that I have no time for negativity in my life anymore, so people who bring it, have to go.

P.S. There is NOTHING wrong with celebrating dog birthdays! I have celebrated my fuzzies every year since they were born. 🙂

  • Happy anniversary to the both of you from me as well! Hope your weekend will be wonderful!

Happy Dating Anniversary!! 🙂 I do love naps – I had a lot of them this week because I haven’t been feeling well either. Sorry about parting ways with friends, but you’re right, it has to happen sometimes.

Naps all the way!! I looooove sleep but don’t get nearly enough of it.
I hope you’re having a great week hun. Good luck packing!!

I hope you’re having a great week, hun.

  • So grateful to have you, hun. I’m glad you’re a part of this. 🙂 peace my dear xox

  • That’s great that you went to the gym with your mom!! And catching up with friends is the best.

  • Hey girl!
I definitely think that’s something you learn as you grow and mature. It’s not about quantity but rather the quality. Like you, I’d much rather a small handful than dozens or hundreds of friends.
I’m so glad you joined over at the par-tay. 🙂
We totally celebrate dating milestones. Why not, right? Life is short, celebrate it all, big or small. I hope you guys get up to something fun for your anniversary next month. 🙂

    I hope you’re having a great week hun. 🙂

  • Thank you so much darling, I appreciate the kind and lovely words. We had a nice weekend, nothing too much, but pretty low-key. Saturday ended with a bang, literally. I horrifically banged my shin off our bed frame doing stupid stuff, I was feeling good and happy, having drank sangria earlier. Holy mother of god did it hurt! I’m such a clumsy soul. Haha!

It’s been an adventurous couple of weeks eh? I had anxiety a few weeks ago, which turned into irritation and anger and I’m so happy to say it has all dissipated. Amen to that!!

I didn’t know it was international napping day. There’s a day for everything, isn’t there? 😉 xoxo

  • Thank you so, so much darling. There have been times I wasn’t sure we’d make it, but alas, here we are fifteen years later and I love him more and more every day. For anyone to put up with my shit, it takes a true Saint, I’m not even kidding.

GO cut your hair woman! Go pick up your phone and call now! (Don’t I sound like an infomercial? Lol)

I think I’m going to do a few blog posts for our camping adventure. Where we’re going, what we’re packing, what we plan to do. I seriously cannot wait to see the billions of stars in the sky and waking up to the stillness or a loon making its call. I just love nature and I never thought I’d ever in a million years say that. Minus the bugs, I love it.

You know how we celebrated Quincey’s thirteenth birthday last week at my moms? The poor fella was not well on the weekend and mom called me worried. Said he wouldn’t get up, wouldn’t eat, was drinking a lot of water… by the next night he was fine again, but he totally had us worried. I went and saw him last night and he was a happy boy excited to see Jeff and I and the dogs. 🙂

    Love you sweets xoxox!

  • Thanks so much love, I appreciate it.
Isn’t it funny how you mature and have all this wisdom that you never thought you had before? For too long, people used to bleed me dry because I’m a kind person. I just don’t have any time or room in my life for negativity, drama or BS. Life is too short for that crap and I won’t settle. Not anymore. It’s taken many years for me to come to terms with this and that certain friendships have expiration dates, and you know what? That’s okay. I’ll take quality over quantity any day of the week!

P.S. That’s awesome hun – more of a reason to like you. Hehe. You’re a total animal lover <3

  • Hey heyyyyy,
Thanks love, I appreciate I. Oh my, Saturday night was hilarious AFTER I got over the hurt and crying of bashing my shin. Lolol. I tried to play it off as nothing but Jeff hurt the bang and wondered what in the hell I’d done. St least I was able to laugh about it after despite the pain. 🙂 god damn wine!
I hope you’re having a good week love. Xo

  • That’s awesome Jess and sounds like our kind of party. Aren’t they so much fun? People totally buy anything and everything dog related.
Good thinking of you to make some dog decorations, people will buy that stuff. Hello, look at me. lol
Do you you have an actual brick and mortar shop? Or Etsy?

  • Hey Lauren, 🙂
Thanks so very much, thats really kind and sweet of you to say.
Hopefully you’re feeling better than you weren’t last week. I know the temperatures here have been swinging as much as 20-30 degrees Celsius in a 24 hour period. That’s why I think everyone is sick this winter and why it’s lingering so long. I’m still blowing m nose a tiny bit but feeling much, much better than last week.

    I hope you’re having a great week hun. 🙂

  • Totes. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Laura, I appreciate it. I hope you’re having a great week. 🙂

  • That saying was bang on last week and still is. 🙂 What goes around comes around, oh does it ever.
    xoxox

  • Hey girl,
That’s so nice of you to say (were actually boring! Lol). Even after all these years, we still kid around like we did back long, long time ago. 😉
I’m almost all better but still blowing my nose a bit – the weather swings anywhere from 20-30 degrees in a 12-24 hour period. Yesterday was spring and last night, it was damn cold and winter again.

I wish I appreciated naps when I was little as much as I do now as I’m older.

I hope you’re having a good week hun. xo

  • Thanks Leslie, I’m almost feeling 100% but it’s hard Are to shake the sniffles. It doesn’t help the weather has been all over the map, too.
Ooooh, another pet lover over here. How old did your cat turn?

You’re the second person I know that had a GREEN KK donut. Aren’t they the best warm? I’m not sure I’ve ever tried a cold KK to be honest. It’s best we only have one or two KK’s in Ontario (Canada here) because my gfs and I years ago when we were in our teens, would go out and buy BOXES of them. To take home to friends, family, to scarf on, you name it.

Great, now I’m craving donuts. Thanks! Lol jk

  • It IS a lot, eh?
Stacey, feel free to join us as often as you’d like. We’d love to have you. 🙂 Look up The Peaceful Posse on Facebook and request to join if you’re interested. I tried searching for you but didn’t find you.

    I hope you’re having a great week hun. 🙂

  • For sure! We are going up to Algonquin. Google it, its a HUGE provincial park and we’ll be doing interior routes, portaging and all that fun stuff. Seven days without showering is mildly frightening though. Lolol!

Eeeek! Your new little darlings are just that – DARLING. Have they been named? They’re so precious AND will keep you LOADS busier than you already are, Momma. 🙂

    Xo

  • jess

Haha! SO much fun! I have an Etsy store and I also have just started selling on Amazon (I’m currently working on adding a shop to my site. I had one, but then decided to focus on Etsy to get things rolling). I can share the link with you if you want (I didn’t know if I should post it here). I would LOVE to have an actual brick & mortar. Maybe someday 🙂

  • That’s amazing hun. Yes, please send me your link. I’d love to check out your shop. 🙂

  • jess

    Absolutely! 🙂 Here’s a link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ChaoticCollected

  • I think that’s the beauty of relationships. They don’t really GET BETTER until you’ve both been through the ringer together. Testing your strength–that’s what you’re doing every day. And it’s incredible that you guys have been through so many things in those 15 years. Seriously–that’s worth celebrating!

Uhm, yes. I ordered a Groupon for a local salon that charges an arm and a leg. It actually expires right around my birthday, so I’ll do something nice and look presentable this year for a change, HA!

OMG, please make that a blog series! I’d love to read it!

And I love how much you guys care for your pups… and so happy to hear that Quincey is feeling better. poor thing. I was just saying that to a friend–there’s nothing sadder than a sick pup. Buster is doing SO MUCH BETTER and I can’t even tell you how relieved I am. Seeing pics of him lethargic on the couch, unable to eat was too much for my heart to take <3 XOXO
