What’s up, Weekend? 38

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the *NEW* ‘What’s up, Weekend’ Friday Link Up!

As previously mentioned last Friday, today is the launch of the newly revamped link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Christina from The Brave Wanderer. and I are hosting.

For the last two years, Fridays have always  been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week.  To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang.  Whatever your choice is, have fun with it.  But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Things That Made Me Happy This Week:

1. Spending an entire weekend with Jeff.

2. New things from lululemon. $40 tights and a new mesh sports bra. #lululemonaddict

Lululemon fun facts: I own 9 pairs of crops, 4 pairs of pants, 8 tops and 6 sports bras. I do own other gear but 90% of it is Lululemon. What can I say? I love their clothing.

3. Other shopping finds: quick dry shirts for our camp trip, quick dry towels for (also for our camp trip), a simple but cute (on sale) dress from old navy.

4. Spring weather and lots of sunshine. And then it got cold again in the middle of this week and everyone was like ‘wtf Mother Nature’ (read: me, lol).

5. Free trial passes at gyms I can’t afford (have any of you ever been to Equinox?).  They are like no other gym you’ve ever been to before and they’re so beautiful, but they’re wayyy too expensive for my taste.

6. Engaging in conversation with people that aren’t expecting it. It is mildly refreshing.

7. Compliments at the gym. Who doesn’t love those? I work my butt off for my muscles, dammit.

8. One thing I just LOVE when I bring the dogs home from my moms house: the excitement and happiness he has when the boys walk through the door. There’s nothing that beats that happy homecoming where your dog gives you a million kisses because you were gone for so long! We both agreed that our place is just too lonely without happy furries running around.

What's up Weekend
9. Quiet evenings.

10. An uneventful, quiet week at work. The calm before the storm is what it is, let’s be honest here. #keepinitreal

11. Hugs and kisses.

12. Aeropress coffee. It’s so yummy and rich!

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

I have no idea what we’re up to this weekend.  We were tossing up the idea of heading up north to go shooting but Jeff’s Dad is visiting Jeff’s brother this weekend AND it’s also cold and we’d have to shoot at the outdoor range because there’s a course going on at the indoor range on Saturday.  So we’ll see what we get up to, maybe nothing at all, which is just fine with me.  I work the next weekend so a chill weekend might be nice.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend my friends, make it a good one!

In case you missed the announcement last week:

My friend’s Charlotte, Christina and I have formed a new blogging group on Facebook called The Peaceful Posse. The intended purpose of the group is to be a safe and supportive place for bloggers to come hang out, share their posts, interact with others and much more. The three of us have banded together to form a new and welcoming group where there is no drama or bullying.  Come on over and join us!  We’d love to have you. 🙂

  • I love your whole list! High-5 for french press coffee + coffee greetings–these really + truly do make my day, too! (*every single time!)

  • I need to try French press coffee maker. We used to have one, but I can’t remember where it disappeared… Also I have heard so many great things about Equinox (my brother does physical therapy and he used to get a discount there since the rehab center he worked was attached to the gym). He once told me they have mouthwash in the bathroom, to indicate that it’s a very chic place, ha!

Also I love Lululemon clothes, but they are so damn expensive. Once a year, they hold a secret warehouse sale in New York somewhere (I think it’s a different location each time). I went one year and totally walked away with SO MUCH CLOTHING for under $150. It was pretty amazeballs.

XOXO and hope you have the bestest weekend and that you and Jeff enjoy quality time together 🙂 *HUGS*

  • Oh I love a good cup of French Press Coffee! Your pups are so cute! I hope you have a great weekend!

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

I have a friend that couldn’t live without her French Press Coffee! She even brings her press to my house when she visits.

  • shootingstarsmag

It’s always good to reflect on the NICE things that happened this week. I feel like most gyms are just too expensive for me, but that’s cool you got some free passes for a bit – and yay for compliments!

    Bring on spring!!
Everyone raves about lululemon maybe I need to get a pair. I need to go shopping. UGH..
    Cute pups

  • i’ve not been to the gym in a month. maybe more? i’d been doing so good. right before i’d get out of bed in the mornings, i’d notice my legs felt better, like i could feel muscles in them. and my clothes fit better, and i felt better. and then i got lazy again. dammit.

  • It’s supposed to be nice tomorrow, so we’re heading to the shore! Yay spring!

  • I wish that we had more gyms with classes in our area, I would totally hit those up.
That dog is melting in the sun. You better put him in a bowl. 😉
I’m a sucker for Sparkle running skirts. I’m not a sucker for the fact that they cost $60+ each and I have to shave my legs to wear them.

  • jess

I still have yet to get on the Lululemon bandwagon! I’m also loving this sunshine! I’m not normally into it, but being in a house with a lovely three seasons room that’s all windows has totally changed my mind.

  • Did you celebrate National Puppy Day yesterday? I guess that’s actually an everyday celebration, tho…. 🙂

  • I soaked up tons of sunshine as well, before it got gloomy and colder again this morning! Quiet evenings during the week are the best! And puppy kisses are pretty much the best kisses, well almost! haha
Have a wonderful weekend no matter what you guys decide to do!
    Hugs xxx

  • Kim Munoz

I bet the pups miss you as much as you miss them. And yay for a chill work week. Hopefully there is no storm next week. I have always heard great things about Lululemon! Hope your weekend is fab!

  • I reckon you deserve those compliments at the gym! 🙂 Love quiet evenings. Oh and kudos to the new venture with this link up…I wasn’t aware until I linked up! 🙂

  • I hope the winter weather leaves you for good very, very soon. That sunshine and vitamin D is good for the soul, you know?

  • Ha. I have visited Equinox before, and yes … that is one super duper fancy gym alright. Glad to hear you had an uneventful work week. Those are always nice, when you can find them. Because lord knows they’re not the norm, right? 😉

  • Why thanks hun. French press coffee is just so smooth and rich, eh? I love it. Even though we’ll be roughing it on our week-long camp trip, it’ll be nice to have little luxuries like a nice cup of coffee. 🙂

  • Do they make French press coffee machines??? I don’t even know. It. They look like science beaker contraptions. We have a glass one for the house (that we don’t use – from Uncommon Goods) and we have the new one. Looks like something I could complicate or fk up. Hahha. So jeff makes them.

Ugghhh I’m so torn. I mean, it would physically pain me to spend that much $$$ at Equinox on a monthly basis but I really, realllllllly want a membership. I’m such a spoiled brat. I actually pitched to them and I’m totally not expecting anything back but at least I tried, right? When we pay off our debt (lord knows when that’ll be..), I want it to be a treat for myself. Um Charlotte, they have Kiehl’s everything, creams, shampoos, they have mouth wash, hair gel, a steam room, a sauna. Frig, my trainer friend and I joke that we could easily live in their changerooms, they’re THAT nice. *swoon*

How is it that Americans get great deals on everything?!? We have a lululemon warehouse and I swear all their crap is literally just that. I have, however, found in the last three months, one pair of crops for $39 and one pair of tights for the same. I scooped those up quickly because that never happens. Most of my clothing I’ve paid full price (womp womp). I bet the secret warehouse sale is friggin INSANE. How do you find out about it? Do they announce it like the day before or something?

    Is it Friday yet?! :-/

  • It’s so rich and smooth, eh? I love it.
I hope you’re having a great week Beth. 🙂 See you tomorrow hopefully.

  • I had never tried one until maybe 6 months ago and now I ask my hubby to make them constantly. 🙂
I hope you’re having a great week, Penny.

  • I hope my goodness, I totally feel you on the gyms. I’m actually a member of goodlife under my mom, she’s got about 5 people branched out from her and it costs about $30 a month I think? Equinox is insane. Here in Toronto it is $178 a month!!!!!! It’s soooo nice and you can’t even compare but man, so expensive. I’ll take free passes any day of the week. 🙂

  • Honestly, if you take care of lululemon gear, it last forever. I have two pairs of tight and I’ve had for over ten years and they still look fine. They are what I like to call investment pieces. Mind you, say if you’re only going to wear them or work out once a month, maybe then they’re a bit expensive and over the top. They fit like a dream though. Make sure you bend over in the change room if you do end up trying some on. Often people get a size slightly too small and then they are see-through and you don’t want that. 🙂

Hope your week is going well hun.

  • Is anything holding you back other than you falling out of a routine/getting lazy again? Girl, get your bootie back to the gym. You know you’ll feel great and look good, too. It’s easy to fall off the wagon but once you put one foot in front of the other, it gets easier. 🙂

  • We’ve had such bipolar weather in the last week. Grr!

  • Do you have a lot of cross fit boxes in your area or just not a lot of fitness facilities in general? I love the classes because I tend to get ADD if I do my own thing and it’s just not productive or an efficient use of time.
The sparkle skirts sound pretty. I think I’ve seen you in pictures running, wearing them. I’ve yet to get a skirt from Lulu but wanted to a couple of years ago.
Haha! Wintertime, I hear you. I have to shave or I scratch my legs til they bleed. It’s no bueno.

  • Of course I did. 🙂 And you’re absolutely right. Every day is a reason to celebrate my fluffs. 🙂

  • I just love your porch, Jess. I think I’d be out there all.the.time. 🙂

  • So a couple of days this week, it was like spring. Today, it’s windy as anything and it’s starting to flurry. What the frig is happening! 🙁
It’s been such a long and rough week and I can’t wait for it to be over with. I hope your week hasn’t been too bad….

Thank goodness it’s the weekend soon! 😉 xoxo

  • I sometimes think they do and others, not so much. Especially when we get the cold shoulder.
My chill work week last week was apparently to offset the shitty week that is this week. Lol. I keep saying, “is it Friday yet?”
Lululemon is good stuff. Well worth the hefty penny and lasts a long time if you care for their things (like not putting their clothes in the dryer).
I hope your week has been better than mine hun. 😉

  • Awe thanks Sanchie, you made me blush.
Thank you thank you, were happy to have ya and see you around these parts, still. 🙂
I hope you’ve had a great week hun. Happy weekend!!

  • It’s freaking flurrying as I type this. *cries* SUCH a bipolar winter here in Canada.

  • They’re so not the norm. My chill week last week must’ve been to offset the shitty week it’s been this week. Lol. Oh well, it’s almost Friday.
I’m still dreaming of Equinox and shot them an email asking to collaborate so that I can perhaps review and share my experiences in all their classes. Naturally, I don’t expect to hear back from them. Lol but at least I tried and put myself out there. 🙂

  • I always manage to screw up those coffee things too. Also I lose interest, though I like the IDEA in theory of trying some fandangled cup of coffee, when I need it in my system ain’t nobody got time for science experiments, lol.

That’s fancy. I mean, I would totes move in there too! That’s great you pitched to them! Hey, it never hurts, right?

My friend is on some super secret mailing list or something. All I know is that this warehouse had those scuba hoodies for $40 and even though the sweatshirt I got was like 4 sizes too small, I still squeeze into it whenever I can because it’s the best sweatshirt ever (though I feel like Chris Farley in the “Fat Guy in a Little Coat” scene. Do you know what I’m talking about?! LOLOL).

Awww, I wish you lived closer. I’d drag your butt with me to that warehouse and you can elbow someone in the face for a headband.

    XOXO

  • Bahaha! I TOTALLY know what you mean about coffee – when you need, you neeeeed it now. No time for that horse $hit. Lol

OMGG that’s hilarious you said that. Jeff and I all the time do the fat guy in a little coat impression or “housekeeping” lol. Seriously, I love you. A $40 scuba hoodie tho, Jesus, you can’t go wrong at all for that steal of a price.

I’m gonna be surprised if Eq responds but I won’t be disappointed. Hello, what the hell do they care about me, one little person, ya know?

    XOXO

  • I DIED AT HOUSEKEEPING!

lolol, i need to see black sheep and tommy boy again. i seriously love and miss chris farley SO MUCH.

next time there’s a lulu sale, i’m stocking up and will send some things to you 🙂 Deal?

    LOVE YOU!

PS: You march right in there and tell them they don’t know what they’re missing! 🙂

  • I was all smiles last night talking to you about this. I’ve definitely gotta watch Tommy Boy this weekend. I like black sheep but TB is better I find. The world definitely lost an amazing man and comedian far too soon, but isn’t that often, sadly, the case of many comedians? 🙁 He was hilarious, even on SNL..

    Deal!! Lol

    😉 love you doll.

  • a couple of things: i’ve been unable to find work, so i don’t have the funds; and then last week my mom broke both of her feet, so i need to be available for her whenever because i’m her legs. i was going five days a week, and while i’d bitch the entire time about being there, i loved going.

  • That’s really nice of you to be there for your mom. That’s really crazy she broke both feet!
