Pet Sitting Adventures – March/April Edition 21

pet sitting

Hello my friends and welcome. It was a pet sitting weekend for me, this last one. It was manageable because a couple of us were working, so it wasn’t insane like other weekends have been where I’ve felt as though I’ve needed to clone myself (thankfully).  So let’s get to it!

So here’s the deal for any new readers here. Pet sitting is my part-time, fun “job”. I work one weekend a month, every four weeks (and sometimes more often, if it is needed and I am available) and have been doing so for the almost five years. It was a job that I stumbled upon I guess at the right time and I feel so blessed to be doing it. I get to spend time with animals and anyone that knows me well will tell you that my heart is with four-legged creatures. There’s just something so special that I cannot put into words about how I feel when I’m around animals. What can I say? I am animal mad in every sense of the word. I physically cannot walk past a dog in the street without stroking it and I’ve been known on many occasion to stop the car and get out and ask to pet your dog. Yes, I am THAT person. And, FUNNILY, despite being allergic to cats, I still cannot resist a sweet, fluffy purring love.

Weekend Stats:

  • Number of booked visits: I was supposed to have had 25 visits but then one cancelled on Friday night, so it ended up being: two on Friday night , 12 on Saturday and 10 on Sunday.
  • Animals: The usual, dogs and cats, a yellow napped amazon bird
  • Distance driven in weekend (Friday night at 6 pm to Sunday night at 10 pm): 185 kilometers
  • Weather: This weekend, it finally felt like spring.  I think (hope?) winter is behind us and warmer, sunnier days are plenty ahead.

Once again, it is a photo heavy post so if you’re not into that kind of thing or you’re worried about me hogging your bandwidth, you should click away in 5…..4…..3…. 2…… 1.. If the pictures aren’t showing, click on the words and you’ll get a pop-up photo window. Sorry!

Friday night

Chester the Bichon-Poo

Chester!  He lives in a retirement home with his momma.

Saturday & Sunday

Lexi the rust colored cat

 Lexi.. She’s such a pretty red/rusty color.

Schnauzer

Muffie also lives with his momma at the same retirement home.  I love that some homes allow residents to move in with their pets.  They can’t acquire after they’ve moved in, but they can certainly bring their companions.  I know these ladies just adore their dogs.

Duke Duke kisses

Is it obvious that Duke and I kind of like each other? 😉Doodle

butter tart

A client left a butter tart for me and boy was it ever good. 🙂 The lady that owns the hounds below has a restaurant in our town and they are famous for the butter tarts.

A break at home and these two are caught sunbathing.

You just have to see the next little guy.  Still a baby (less than a year) and full of beans and kisses.  A French Bulldog named Muchacho.

Isn’t this backyard just gorgeous?  This little fluffball, Nemo, a Pomapoo (Pomeranian/Poodle mix) and Mugzi, a 14 year old Pug.

Waiting for his sunbeam… then Daddy moved him so he could be in the little slice of sunbeam.  🙂

Harley the yellow naped Amazon

Harley, the yellow-naped Amazon parrot.  You guys have seen this character over the last couple of months and here he is again, never disappointing. 🙂

Did you make it to the end? I know, it’s a lot. This time around I tried to make smaller videos instead of making one compilation of the entire weekend. Let me know if you prefer one format over the other or if you have any questions. 🙂

How was your weekend? Yep, I know it’s Wednesday but I’m so not on the ball this week, or any week or day for that matter, let’s be honest.

My next pet sitting weekend isn’t for another 4 weeks so I’ll see you back then.

Hope you’re all having a great week! xo

Aw, thanks for sharing! I love animals. I have a dog but I’d love a cat at some point in the future. What a fun part time job!

  • I love how big your heart is, momma <3 and you know, we share a special bond, animal lovers. I would totes do the same re jumping out of a car to pet a dog… can't help myself but love that I'm not alone in my madness 🙂

Omg that little french bulldog though…. eeep! So many cuties that you get to spend time with 🙂

No preference where format is concerned–I'm viewing on my phone and the videos are a little wonky but that prob has more to do with my antiquated droid than anything 🙂 xoxo

  • You know we always love your pet sitting adventures, Lindsay, and this one was especially awesome. The videos rocked! Lexi drinking from the fountain reminds us of our Zoe, who LOVES and demands faucet water all the time. And Duke looks SOOO happy to be spending time with you. And of course YOUR cuties basking in those sunpuddles. Adorable. Life is good. Hope your week’s going okay!

  • Pet sitting cam be so much fun! I loved reading about your adventures. I am a new reader. Looking forward to more adventure stories!

  • Awe. So many cuties. I love that French Bulldog!!! I also love that you’re able to go into retirement homes and help out the residents. I bet they love your visits just as much as their pets do. Glad to see it was a fun, busy weekend!

  • I’m glad you enjoyed the pics. 🙂

  • You’re welcome and thanks for reading. 🙂
My Monday to Friday job is stressful, so it’s nice that I have something on the side that’s fun and I enjoy, too.

  • I love that we both love animals so much. The way people treat animals speaks volumes to character. You and I, we are good, genuine, SUCH caring people. You are so not alone. When jeff loses me in crowds or at outdoor events, he looks DOWN because he knows I’m likely to be petting a dog. lol

Muchacho was SOOO adorable. And such a kissy pants, I loved it. 🙂

It’s probably a YouTube thing on your archaic phone. Maybe? 😉 lol xoxo

  • Cathy C Bennett

You’ve been busy! I think your format is fine. I wish you were closer, I would seriously call on you to sit for the Boys. Have a great weekend xoxo

  • So glad you liked it. 🙂 I’m always looking forward to such sweet words.
Does Zoe only do it in sinks or will she also do the same if you run a bath in the tub? Sometimes I wonder wth cats. Ever heard of a Turkish Van? They are water cats. 🙂

Life is good this week and I hope yours is too. 🙂

  • It’s fun but there are timesnit has been stressful or difficult, especially with aging or ill pets. But the positives far, far outweigh the negative. 🙂

I’m so glad you stopped by and that you’ve joined the PP group. I look forward to getting to know you better.

  • They make my entire day and on many a day, I prefer an animal over a person. 🙂
So glad you stopped by Jodie.

  • The Frenchie was just soooo CUTE. 🙂

I love the residents at the home. Everyone loves seeing the dogs we walk go in and out the lobby, they say hi. The residents are really lovely ladies. It’s also sad seeing them decline in health, too. But I always enjoy our conversations and their dogs are everything to them. They’re just so sweet. 🙂

  • Oh my goodness, I wish we lived closer, too. I’d love to hang with your boys and send you videos and pictures of our antics. Someday I’ll meet ya, Cathy. You too my friend. xoxox

  • Jessica Bradshaw

Oh my goodness. So precious! You had a busy weekend. I always thought that pet sitting would be a fun job. ;D These videos made me smile.

  • Honestly, I don’t stop smiling the entire weekend. It just makes my heart so happy being with animals. 🙂
Glad you liked them hun, thanks a lot. 🙂

  • I think you’re probably right re: my archaic phone. I swear, one of these days it will just blow up 🙂

Also I agree completely. I love that he has to look down for you–that’s amazing <3 GIVE ME ALL THE ANIMALS!

Hope you have a great weekend, Linds!

  • Zoe will go into the shower/tub *after* we’re done, but she definitely gravitates to the sink/faucet. In that way, she is unlike two of our angel cats, Moosey and Graphite, both of whom would sometimes try to come into the shower to get a drink. And who liked drinking from the tub spigot (on low, of course). LOL. Yes, I’ve heard of Turkish Vans. They are beautiful cats, and I’ve seen videos of them swimming … really cool!

Life is good this week for us, too. Happy weekend to you, Jeff and the boys! 🙂

  • That’s pretty adorable (in each instance, for Zoe and those before her). 🙂

I hope you had a great weekend my friend. 😉
