Weekend Recap 22

weekend recap

Is it Friday, yet? This phrase should be indicative to the mood/week I’m having.  Scratch that, I wrote that previous sentence on Monday and it’s now Wednesday and it’s not that bad of a week.

I’m really not in a great mood this week and I just want it to be over with. Do you ever get the feeling that time is just slipping through your fingers and sometimes you just feel like you’re going through the motions of life, not really making the most out of it? That’s what this past weekend felt like. You could feel the tension between Jeff and I and I cannot stand that!! I’d rather just get things off my chest, discuss and be done with it and let it go instead of beating it with a dead horse. But does it ever work out that way? Hardly.

Saturday, Jeff and I drove out to Peterborough to shoot an IDPA match (pistol shooting) and I actually beat 4 people. I bombed one stage in low light. I literally just banged through 20 bullets trying to hit the steel popper and was just not having it. I came away from it with a cut on my hand from how I was holding the flashlight in the low light stage and I also had three casings fly down my shirt, two of which I stopped mid-way through the staged, bent forward and flicked them out. The third, oh that one went down the cleavage and it seared away at my virgin skin as I tried in vain to hit the god damn steel popper. I was just mad at that point for not being able to hit the popper. Note to self: wear turtlenecks when shooting. LOL We then ended up driving back through downtown Toronto, enjoying the beautiful sunshine and drive and then we headed back north to head home.  Later that evening, two of our friends popped over for the evening and even our neighbour, Dina, with the Bichons (Lily and Stella) popped in for a visit.

Spring in Canada

Friday afternoon on my walk home from work. Yep, take note of the snow. Later in the weekend, it was looking like spring, again.

Sunday morning was just tense. Let’s backtrack a bit: I fell asleep Saturday night on the couch, which is one of Jeff’s pet peeves. I angrily woke up and stomped off to bed. Sometime after me, Jeff fell asleep on the couch and moseyed on to bed. I woke up at 7:30 and tried in vain to get him up until about 8:30. He was tired and had only slept maybe 4 hours. I was expecting him to cancel our plans with my mom and him tell me to go on my own, but he didn’t.  We ended up going downtown to the Green Living Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.  Lots of good stuff to see but meh, nothing really spectacular.  It was a nice outing with my mom, though.

Look at my ranunculus!  Just now, three weeks later, the new buds are starting to open up.

Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday! 🙂

  • I feel you, how is it only Wednesday! I would really like it to be the weekend again too, although ours wasn’t the best ever either. Here’s to a better second half of the week and a better weekend next weekend!

  • Kind of crazy to me to imagine still seeing snow in April, but maybe that’s not too unusual where you’re at!

  • kim airhart

I know how you feel. I felt that way last week…or was it the week before?! UGH no fun. I feel like this week has been dragging. Falling asleep on the couch is a pet peeve of Mr.J’s too. Your pictures are beautiful. I hope your week turns around. xxoo

  • I totally owe you an email and am so sorry this week is getting away from me, too. I’m sorry to hear that things with Jeff are a little tense but hope they’ve improved with time. I get it, truly. I also love that you are transparent about your issues because I think that’s incredibly beneficial and SO much better than sweeping things under the rug (like we tend to do).

Is that your momma walking with Jeff? She’s so cute!

I can’t believe you still have snow (fresh snow at that!) on the ground. Ours is finally thawing. Aww puppies… give them all smooches from me.

Also please stick with turtlenecks while shooting. Bullet casings down the shirt/pants sounds, uhm, painful <3

  • Sorry to hear your weekend wasn’t the best, Lindsay. If it makes you feel any better, the pictures of Charlie and Baxter and your ranunculas made me smile. 🙂

Hope your week is going well, my friend.

  • Jessica Bradshaw

Sounds like you had a busy weekend. I am so sorry things went rough with Jeff. I am super envious of your snow. We got zilch this year and I love seeing it on the ground.

  • Hope the rest of this week is getting better!

  • Looks like a fun weekend even with the snow (It was 75 here in Chicago!). I’ve been wanting to head back to Toronto sometime soon. Wish it was just a little closer!

  • Hope your week is getting better. At least the weekend is getting closer and it is a long one with the holidays.

  • Happy Friday and TGIF/long weekend!! 🙂 what a week. I hope you have some fun/relaxinglans for the weekend. 🙂

  • I live in Ontario, and snow can be expected up until the end of May. But, we’ve had no snow since last week. 🙂

  • Carly Ned

Even though Sunday was a little tense, it still seemed like a great weekend! I’ve never been shooting and would LOVE to go sometime.

  • Well I’m in Ontario so it’s not unusual to see snow up until mid to late May. 🙂

  • Sometimes they’re just crappy weeks. I’m glad the work week is dunzo. Monday and Tuesday were the shits and Wednesday, Thursday weren’t too bad, thankfully.
Jeff gets pissed off about falling asleep on the couch. He says if I’m tired, go to bed but sometimes I like snoozing on the couch. Like, who cares?!
Thanks love. I hope you have a great weekend!

  • Thanks Lisa, it did and now it’s the weekend. Yahoo!! I hope you have a great Easter long weekend. 🙂

  • I just don’t like games and having that tension or stress looming over my head. I’d rather get things out in the open and get them resolved instead of it arising later on down the road.

Yep, that’s my mom walking with Jeff. 🙂 She’s adorable, isn’t she?

Oh don’t worry, I’m wearing high neck tops from here on out. 😉

    Happy Friday babes! Xo

  • I’m glad they made you smile. Dog pics and flowers always put a smile on my face. 🙂
I hope you have a great Easter long weekend my friend.

  • Thanks love. I hate tension, it’s just so uncomfortable and unnecessary. Things are better now but when it’s crappy, it just sucks because it can ruin an entire day or weekend.
Oh come to Canada. Or I can ship you some snow next winter. We always have plenty. Lol

  • Toronto is a nice city, lots to see and do. They have a really nice Ripley’s aquarium now, Niagara Falls is close by, the CN Tower, shopping and theater. Let me know if you ever come here. 🙂

  • You’re quite right my dear. The week improved and it’s the long weekend, at last. Enjoy your long weekend hun. 🙂

  • Thank you! You, too. 🙂

  • Shooting is so much fun and SO empowering. Definitely get out and try it if you ever have an opportunity. My hubby got into first and then I followed. He said far, far better than I but he makes it to the range more often than I do.
I hope you’re having a wonderful week hun. Happy Friday!
P.S. I posted a few more shooting pics in Wednesday’s post. I have a video and if I upload it, I’ll send you the link. 🙂
