What’s up, Weekend? 27

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the *NEW* ‘What’s up, Weekend’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to theย newly revamped link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Christina from The Brave Wanderer. and I are hosting, called ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For the last two years, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

1. Getting together with friends.

2. New shoes. A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes. ย ๐Ÿ™‚

3. Chatting with my regular senior clients (the pet parents that live in the retirement home I do pet visits).

4. Meeting new pet clients. ย I always look forward to new little faces.

5. I’m grateful to have my appetite back after having none in almost a week. ย ย

6. ย Receiving flowers from my boss as thanks and appreciation for everything I do. #blessed

7. ย A day of sunshine after 3894 days of rain (just kidding).

8. ย Pack walks with our friend and her two dogs.

9. ย A nice evening out biking 16 kms with Jeff.

10. ย I made some plugin tweaks and fixes to the blog this week and am happy with the changes. ย I do wish I had more time to blog, though.

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

We’ve got some errands to run this weekend and one of Jeff’s co-workers surprise 50th birthday to go to and on Sunday, we’re going to visit our friends, Erik and Tara.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend my friends, make it a good one!

  • I’m glad you’re feeling better, and have your appetite back. My favorite of your thankful things is your doing pet visits in the retirement home. That is SO cool. ๐Ÿ™‚

Those flowers from your boss are awesome!

  • Checking in to see if you had a new blog post up–but will comment on this bad boy over here ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you had a lovely weekend, my sweet pea, and sending you so much love for the week ahead!! XOXO

  • Your old pair have to be good for something, like gardening, right?! Lol
Nothing beats a good, well worn and comfortable pair of running shoes.

I hope your weather has taken a turn for the better this week, we’ve had no rain which is a miracle! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • the boss gave you flowers? that’s awesome. :]

  • This week has made up for the craptacular wet weather we had all last week. This week has been sunny, sunny, sunny! ๐Ÿ™‚
So I have two jobs, Kristi. I work Monday to Friday for a securities regulator (think SEC) and then part time, my “fun” job, is pet sitting and dog walking for a lady that has owned her business for 16 years. I’ve been with her for five years now, too. ๐Ÿ™‚ I work at least one weekend a month, sometimes more and I do overnights on weekends when asked. It’s the best ever. I love it every single second I’m out doing visits and going house to house. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I keep trying to find new reasons why I need this pair of shoes or that pair…. I used to work at a shoe store when I was in my teens and you should’ve seen my closet. ๐Ÿ™‚

How did your sons golf event go? Did you have nice weather for the day?

    I hope you’re having a lovely week, Julie. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Thanks girl, I’m desperately trying to hold on to my flowers this week. I’ve gotta toss them today but the ranunculus dried up beautifully. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve got to find me some pretty flowers this week and perhaps call around to see if there is anyone with ranunculus left (can you tell I’m obsessed and they’re my fave?).
I’m so happy my appetite is back this week. Of the 10 lbs I lost, I’ve gained 5 back, which is fine, I didn’t need to lose It in the first place.

I hope your week has been great, love. We’re almost back to Friday and the weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • My boss knows me well enough that she added about 4 stems of ranunculus, which I thought was incredibly thoughtful and sweet. I was skeptical of our new boss at first (I guess tons of changes and upheaval in the workplace will do that to a team of people) but she’s really the kindest boss I’ve ever worked for and she genuinely cares about the people she works with. It’s a nice change from the ‘okay’ boss I had before, she was just cold and kept everything close to her chest, one piece-mealing work and details to her team; little did we know she had spent at least 6 months prepping for her departure. Oh well, new beginnings and they’re great. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope your weather has turned around this week. I think we had one morning of rain this week, otherwise it has been sunny and blue skies. It’s chilly but I’ll take the sunshine over days and days and DAYS of downpour thankyouverymuch. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope your week has been good to you, love. ๐Ÿ˜‰ xoxoxo

  • Definitely. And bonus if they’re comfortable AND cute. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Hey Lauren,

I hope your weather took a 180 and you’ve had some beautiful sunshine this week. We have, thank goodness. Last week was so gloomy and wet.

I hope you’re having a great week hun. Xo

  • The weather here has been lovely this week, albeit a bit chilly but tons of sunshine, which makes a huge difference. I hope your weather has been nicer and sunnier, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Isn’t it the nicest? She’s a very thoughtful boss, which is so nice compared to the cold one I had before. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • It’s really a nice thing, but the sad thing to see is watching them slip from month to month and some of them losing their faculties. We have one lady that was being transferred to the 2nd floor of the retirement just days after my last weekend I worked and her dementia was worsening. No concept of time, day or night. She was messing up her meds, she didn’t know if she had given her dog her meds, or fed her for that matter… she still walks her dog but I just think it’s a matter of time before she’s unable to do that…. she’s such a sweet lady but it’s been sad watching her slip after the last 6-8 months….
Jeff is doing his first aid training this weekend right around the corner from another retirement home where we used to visit a lady with her yorkie. Well he died last August at age 19 (!!!) so I’m gonna pop in on Saturday after I drop Jeff off and see how she’s doing. Those two were each other’s lifeline so I’m curious to see how Katie is doing. She may not remember me but we’ll see. ๐Ÿ™‚

I definitely did NOT overdo last week. I had a to do list but couch time was, apparently, more important to me. LOL!

I hope you’ve been having a good week hun. xoxox

  • And it’s SO rewarding. Many of their family members don’t visit them often so they’re lonely, it’s nice to just chat about nothing and it makes their day. ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course it is also sad seeing many of them decline in health, but I’m convinced their beloved pets and best friends are what keeps them alive and going.
I gained 5 lbs back of the 10 I lost while sick, so I’d say I’m doing pretty good. ๐Ÿ˜‰ lol

I hope you’re doing well and having a decent week, Kevin. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • No I didn’t have my ish together, are you kidding me? Lol
I hope your week has been good to you my dear. xoxoxo

  • I know, right? It’s very thoughtful and much appreciated, the kind gesture. And bonus, she got me four stems of my fave flower: a ranunculus. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • the people we surround ourselves with–ESPECIALLY at work–make all the difference in the world. I’m glad that your new boss has livened things up around there, and she sounds like a very caring person (who know those still existed!).

we’re supposed to go into the city on Saturday and the weather calls for 100% chance of rain lol. I can’t complain–it’s really turned around the past few days. LOVE TO YOU!!
