What’s up, Weekend? 22

What's up, weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the *NEW* ‘What’s up, Weekend’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the revamped link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Christina from The Brave Wanderer and I host called ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For the last two years, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

1. We finally made it around to visiting Jungle Cat World. There will be a post on that coming soon.

2. Homemade guacamole. Looove! I often forget just how yummy avocado is, which means I’m probably not eating enough of it.

3. Four-day long weekends 🙂 (this needs no explanation).

4. I figured out my clothing situation for our camping trip. Now we just wait for it to come!

5. Monday, I went to visit with a long-time pet client and got to say goodbye to the family before they move away.  Despite feeling sad that I won’t see any of the five dogs, two cats and dozens of chickens as often as I have, I’m left feeling blessed that I was given the opportunity to love on them all one last time.  It has been a privilege taking care of them and getting to know the mom and dad over the last five years.  I’ll just have to detour on my way up north to go visit them from now on.

6. Celebrating Charlie’s tenth (!!) birthday on Tuesday. 🙂

7. My Mom is home from her two-week holiday!! 🙂

8. Summer clothes and open-toed shoes make me happy.

9. Time to myself, even if it’s 5 minutes, it’s nice.

10. Conversations with peers at work that talk me off the ledge when it has been a crazy/busy/stupid day.

11. Summer plans! We’ve got two weddings, a camping trip, a huge target shooting competition we’re putting on in August. There are so many fun and exciting things on the horizon. 🙂

12.  I’m overjoyed seeing just how excited my mom is when she comes over to see the dogs and vice versa.  Have I ever mentioned that my mom is always trying to finagle a way to steal borrow our dogs? lol

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

I am pet sitting this weekend so stay tuned for my Pet Sitting Adventures Recap next week.   🙂

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend my friends, make it a good one!

Grateful for a good week here too! School’s out- yippee!! Four day weekends are the bomb, guacamole rocks, and excited for you that your mom is coming to visit! Happy weekend!

  • Homemade guacamole is my favorite too. And avocado anything. Awwww, I love that your mom tries to “borrow” your dogs 🙂 That’s adorable. She sounds like such a fun woman!

Also you have some great plans on the horizon this summer! It’s always fun to have things like that to look forward to. And I can’t wait to hear more about your Jungle Cat World visit. That’s sad re: your clients who are moving away, but think of the positive impact you had on their lives and maybe you can keep in touch??

I love how big your animal-loving heart is 🙂 XOXO and happy weekend!

  • GUACAMOLE!!!!! That always makes things better!! LOL. I’m excited about summer plans too, even if nothing is definitive at this point. Hoping to go to Chicago for a week. Good colleagues/coworkers is a big deal, especially when they become true friends 😉 Enjoy your weekend!

  • Hey girl! I wish I could have homemade guacamole, darn my avocado allergy! And I love open toed shoes too, I love that the weather is getting nicer for that! Hooray for a long weekend, I only get three days, but I’ll take it! Enjoy your long one too! XO

Oh what a lovely week for you, sweets. Being on this Keto WOE has me eating Guac like every single day. Yummy! It is heavenly.
Flip flops are on my agenda this weekend. That is after I get these hammocks dealt with at the nail salon first. Have a great weekend my friend.

  • shootingstarsmag

Aw, I’m sorry one of the families you pet sit for is moving away!! That’s great your mom is home – and at least you know you have a pet sitter when you need one. 😉 hahah

Yay for summer plans. I have a whole bucket list of things I hope to do, along with things that I already have planned/bought tickets for!

  • I just ate some homemade guac…and it is soooo good. Way better than any store bought kind for sure. I love the relationship you have with your mom. It sounds like you are best friends, which is just like me and mine. Have a fantastic weekend!

  • Jungle Cat World sounds like a cool place! I am so glad it’s almost time for summer clothes. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend!

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

What a great list! I’m with you on the alone time. Sometimes 5 minutes by myself is all I need to feel refreshed.

  • Sounds like you had a great week, Lindsay! It was a long one for me, but we’re in the midst of a 3-day weekend, so all is good. I’m glad you’re mom is home, and that she and the boys we’re so excited to see each other. How cute!

I’m so with you about summer clothes and open-toed shoes. Of course, I would go barefoot if I could get away with it. 🙂

  • Hey girl,
Hope your week has been swell.
It definitely helps to have people you work with that you can just get things off your chest. Sometimes that’s all it takes and you feel lighter and not so burdened by whatever is bothering you. 🙂

I hope you got lots of rain this week. You need it.

  • You must be excited for your summer plans with the family! It always feels so weird hearing Americans out of school by the beginning of June, but then again you guys start in August. We do September til the end of June here.

I hope you had a great week, Julie! 🙂

  • I don’t make guac much at home, actually that was my first time. Jeff has before, though. I refuse to buy store bought when it’s so simple.

“Borrowing” our dogs is putting it light. She tells me she’s stealing the dogs all the time, and I’m like ummm noo… lol She’s cute though. 🙂

Definitely keeping in touch with Lorrie, the dog mom so I can visit them up north. We text and we’re friends on social media, so I’m just grateful for that contact I have with them. They’re such a lovely family. 🙂 I’m blessed, what can I say?

Hugs hugs hugs sweets. So tired/stressed/in a funk/being a bad friend. I love you momma. Xo

  • Doesn’t it? And I always try and rationalize that avocado isn’t THAT bad for you in moderation. 🙂

Chicago sounds fun! I’ve always wanted to go there, among so many other places in the states.

I’ve been burned before with colleagues at work and I’m much more guarded, but those that I can vent to, I know that they’re solid people that aren’t about to discard me when they’ve no longer any use for my friendship. That happened with two girls. I was friends with each of them, and then they started becomming besties and all of a sudden, everything changed and she got cold. I got cold and distanced myself from the second friend, but it was so upsetting. The lesson there is that some friendships have expiration dates and are meant to serve a purpose in your life. It’s unfortunate but that’s life.

    Anyways, I hope you’re having a great week! 🙂

  • Hey Beth,

Is that the only food allergy you have and did you develop it early or later in life? I’m allergic to lychee (BAD) and grapes. And environmental things but that’s the only food.
Hey, three days is better than nothing. I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed a bit of downtime. 😉 xo

  • Oh that sounds terrible having to eat guac almost every day. 🙂 Not bad at all, sista.
I’m wearing flip flops less because if I’m out driving, I wear runners. I just learned how to drive standard last year and I won’t wear flip flops until I’ve got years behind me. I don’t need anything flimsy that might catch on the pedals. But i do love me some flip flops. That’s all I wear on vacation, forget runners. LOL I can’t stand socks.

I hope you’re having a great week babes! xo

  • It is bittersweet seeing them off, and their property was beautiful. It was just so serene. I’m keeping in touch with them and intend on visiting them in the summer, hopefully. 🙂

That sounds awesome, your summer and fulfilling your bucket list. I also just bought tickets to a beer festival later in June..hopefully it is civilized and not too rowdy. LOL

I hope you’re having a great week hun. Xo

  • Mmm, for sure!
Your relationship with your mom and mine with my mother sounds identical. I talk to my mom all the time, visit her. She really is my best friend and I don’t know what the hell I’d ever do without her. <3
I hope you're having a great week hun!

  • It was so much fun and I’m glad we’d finally went when it was nicer weather. We’d talked about it weeks before but it had rained for a week straight and would’ve been gross to walk around in. Even when we did go, it was pretty mucky in spots. But definitely fun. I LOVE the big cats; they’re so regal. 🙂

    I hope you’re having a great week hun. 🙂

  • It’s fundamental, I think, for your wellbeing to take time to yourself. And you’re right, five minutes, five hours, whatever. Just time to be you and do/feel/say/go anywhere. 🙂

  • Hey Kevin, I hope your week has been better than the last. I’ve had to work Monday to Friday this week. I know, I know, the horror. LOL I’m eager for it to be Friday at 3:45 right about now, that’s for sure.
Mom is home safe and sound and back into her groove, dog sitting dogs and doing her happy thing. 🙂

Oh me too. I HATE socks and would prefer to be in barefeet whenever except outside in snow.
