What’s up, Weekend? 20

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the revamped link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Christina from The Brave Wanderer and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For the last two years, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

1. Out with some friends for an afternoon watching the Blue Jays vs. the New York Yankees.

Blue Jays Game

CN Tower

2.  A simple Chinese food dinner with Jeff. (Jeff hates Chinese, so he was a real sport)

3. Calendula cream.  It’s been like GOLD for the skin on my face and has calmed down a lot of the redness and hormonal (oh joy!) acne.

4. A relaxing, yet productive day at home with Jeff.

5. Quiet evenings at home doing much of nothing and getting to bed earlier than the norm.

6. Flirting with Jeff. I used to blush around that man all the time. He makes me feel so loved and adored.

7. Loving on the boys after a crazy day of work. I just love my boys so much!!

Snuggles

8. Responding to all my outstanding comments in a much more timely fashion this week.

9. It’s still daylight out well after 9 now.

10. Getting the best compliment from my combat class instructor at my gym saying I have great form and she’s glad I’m up at the front of the class so others on my side of the room can follow me if they get lost in class. Truthfully, I’m up by the fan because I’m a sweaty beast but hey, I’ll take the compliment.

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Jeff has gone up north for the weekend to run a IDPA classifier on Sunday (shooting-related) and I’ve stayed home because I’ve got a cat visit to do with Duke the cat Saturday and on Sunday, I’m going to a bridal shower for a friend of ours’ fiancé, Chantelle.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend my friends, make it a good one!

Sounds like a lovely week. I’m SO happy that it’s lighter out later. I was out on the porch reading for awhile last night and I loved it.

  • Oh flirting…isn’t that so wonderful? Life has been so chaotic for us with illness x2 that flirting is a fleeting (is that a tongue twister?) thing. But when it happens, I feel like such a teenage dork. It’s adorable.
We have not had Chinese food in FOREVER. I love it so much. YUM!
And isn’t the daylight the best thing EVER?! I just want to swim in it.
I hope that your weekend is wonderful! xoxxo

  • Hey gorgeous! I love a good baseball game, it is always so much more fun to go see it in person! And I think I need to try that cream out, I have the worst hormonal acne!! I hope you have a wonderful weekend lovely lady!

  • I used to get SO terrified that I’d get called out to stand in the front of a classroom like that, but thankfully my terrible coordination made sure that never happened, LOL!! Aww, that’s great though that you are able to lead in a class setting and that other people can follow you (PS: You know everyone is always more concerned with their own sweat so I’m sure they’re not paying attention to yours!).

That’s great you got to see a baseball game (though I hear the Yankees suck this year?!). What a fun outing with friends! And yay to flirting with your hubby. That’s so sweet, and a great way to keep the spark alive. I tried doing this yesterday and ended up with a finger in my eye. No joke. LOLOL, I’m a friggin disaster but it was funny and Bryan felt SO horrible about it.

Hope you have a lovely weekend, and that you get lots of puppy snuggles!

Never stop flirting! #1 rule! Yay for some baseball and some down time too! We are headed next door for a little get together tonight. Movies tomorrow and then who knows what else we can squeeze in 🙂 Have an great weekend babe!

  • That’s an awesome compliment!!! I’m loving the long nights with that extra daylight too. Sounds like you have a fun weekend ahead. Enjoy your animal friends and the shower!

  • How can you possibly hate chinese food? He’s crazy! haha And I also love that we’re at the peak of daylight times <3

  • What a lovely compliment to get! Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

  • San

What a great compliment to get. Awesome. Also: yay Baseball season!

  • Daylight and sunshine make a world of difference, don’t they? You reading out on the porch sounds so idyllic. 🙂
I hope you’re having a great week, hun. xo

  • Sometimes I forget what it’s like to be in a new relationship and then I’ll find myself blushing about something and Jeff LOVES that. We’ve been together too bloody long and sometimes we become complacent. It’s nice to show eachother affection. It doesn’t need to get stale or boring. 🙂
If you like chicken and tend to get chicken balls, try this next time: Soogai. It’s basically chicken filets that are like chicken balls but without all that dough and you get a decent amount of chicken compared to the balls where you get a piddly amount.
It’s SOOO nice that it’s light out forever and ever in the evenings. I’m seriously loving it and I know you are too, Miss Sunshine. 😉
I hope you’re having a great week hun. xoxox

  • hey babe 🙂
That calendula cream is good but man, I almost feel like paying my doctor a visit but at the same time, I just know she’ll prescribe steroids so what’s the point? I can deal. It just sucks because something changed with my body chemistry a few years ago and I now have more pimples on my face when I ovulate than I did as a hormonal teenager. I suppose there are worse things, though……
I hope you had a great weekend and your week is fab, hun. 🙂 xo

  • Oh my god, I totally feel you and I feel like I’d be a bag of shakes and nerves if say I went to a step. I’d be so terrified of falling on my face or something. But with the plyo/hiit/combat and weight classes, I’m good. Thank goodness. LOL The compliment definitely made me feel like I was on a high. 🙂
Do the Yankees suck this year? Because they blew the Jays out of the water. I think final score was a laughable 7-0 and 4 of those points were homeruns late in the 7th. The Blue Jays didn’t stand a chance at that point. It was a good/fun game and the roof was wide open and the sun was shining. Ironically, it would have been a perfect day for the 75 kms ride because less than 24 hours later, it was a thunderstorm!
LMAO! Is that the story to you getting a finger in the eye? You were trying to be all cutesy with Bryan and then look where that got you?! LOLOL! Jeff and I play fight all the time and inevitably, I always manage to do something stupid or hurt myself. 🙂
I hope you’re having a lovely week babes! miss you and love you! xox

  • How was your weekend babe? Are the boys sleeping in at all for you in the mornings? Are you having a great week? All these questions, I know I know, shut up Lindsay. lol I hope you’re having a good week my love. xoxo

  • Thanks love, I hope you’re enjoying your summer days with the boys. xoxox

  • Right?! Jeff doesn’t like how he’s hungry again usually after an hour or so. So, I rarely eat it or when I do, I’m with my mom. 🙂
I hope you’re having a great week hun. xo

  • Thank you, I thought so too and was pretty flattered. 🙂
    I hope you’re having a great week, hun. 🙂

  • Thank ya, thank ya. 🙂

  • Cathy C Bennett

Chinese food huh? Yet one more thing we have in common girlfriend! Sounds like your weekend turned out pretty good XOXO

  • I LOVE me some Chinese. Have you ever tried soo gai? If you like chicken balls but think they’re too doughy or not enough chicken, try Soo gai. They’re like chicken fillets and so much tastier/more chicken. 🙂
    Hope you’re well darlin. XOXO
