What’s up, Weekend? 14

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the revamped link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Christina from The Brave Wanderer and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For the last two years, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

1.  I saw my friend Liane last Friday when she subbed a spin class at the gym.  It was so nice to see her. πŸ™‚

2.  Skyping with Charlotte and Buster. <3

3.  We got a new air conditioning unit for our bedroom and it is glorious. I’m actually a tiny bit cold at night. Lol!

4.  Gentle puppy kisses and cuddles on weekend mornings πŸ˜‰

5.  Spending an evening with good friends, sangria and their two very adorable black kitty cats.

6.  Father’s Day dinner with my step-dad, mom and jeff.

7.  Despite Charlie hurting himself last Sunday, we’ve had a lot of quiet time bonding with our boy this week. We are just so beyond grateful for my mom who always steps in and helps with the dogs on a whim. We are definitely blessed in that department.

8.  Commiserating with other friends that are in similar situations with their dogs.

9.  Little moments of quiet and calm with Charlie while he’s resting.

10.  Another thing: we are grateful to be even able to afford to take care of our dog and his injuries.  Many people would never be able to drop $3500 just like that (twice).

11. Fresh peonies from my mother’s garden.

Peonies

12.  OITNB and House of Cards.

13.  Happiness is… going to your moms and seeing Charlie. Boy was he excited to see us. He’s taking this strict crate-rest really, really well this time.  But I have to admit, waiting is the worst part.  We just want him fixed so we can get on the healing train.

Charlie and Baxter
14.  One-on-one time with Baxter. <3

15.  I received another nice compliment from the combat instructor who’s class I typically take on Wednesdays.  She asked me if I was going to be in class and when I responded with a yes, she was ecstatic because I was a good person they could follow and who has great form.  Nice, eh?

16. VSCO premium edition. Holy cow – 100 filters and only $26 Canadian for a year’s subscription.

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

I’m off on a 7-day paddling/camping trip up in Algonquin Park and will be off the grid completely.  I will NOT be hosting the linkup next Friday but I will be back next weekend!

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?  Take care friends! πŸ™‚

  • I love how important your pups are to you… your true babies. I’m learning what that is like too πŸ™‚ Cold air for sleeping is the best in the summer!!! Yay for cold AC!!! We had a great Father’s Day too. Enjoy your upcoming adventure, can’t wiat to read about it!! Safe travels!!

  • Oh my peonies are toast already so I am jealous of yours!
I haven’t skyped anyone since 2000. Just kidding. Was it invented yet?
Dog injuries or dogs just getting sick are the most expensive thing ever. When Champ ate a sock, it cost us 2500 just in the surgery alone. He is sick now actually. We are trying to get him to put on weight. The doctor said the “C” word and …well…he’s 13 years old and he’s lived a good life. We can’t afford to prolong things and sigh….old bastard.
Anyways….I hope that you have a wonderful adventure xoxoxo

  • The peonies are sooooo pretty! I’m continuing to think good thoughts for sweet Charlie! And I’m loving OITNB even though I’ve heard others aren’t crazy about this season.

  • Corey Wheeland

Peonies are some of my favorites! Looks like you have so very much to be grateful for! πŸ™‚

  • You know, I just discovered VSCO and started adding filters–I have to play around with it more, let me know your thoughts!

I LOVED skyping with you guys. SO lovely to see you and your pups.

I can’t wait to hear all about your trip. Even if the weather isn’t the greatest, you’ll have a lovely time because you’ll be away. Though I know you’re feeling torn with Charlie in his current condition; at least you know he is in the BEST hands possible and that he’ll be as good as new in no time. I’m sure of it <3 Sending him all the best vibes, my sweet.

How good is OITNB this season?! Amazing, right?

Also your peonies are beautiful πŸ™‚ XOXO and can't wait to hear about your trip!

  • San

I’d rather be cold under three blankets than so hot that I can’t sleep… so yay for a new AC unit πŸ™‚ Have so much fun on your camping trip!

  • Hey girl, Charlie has surgery on July 4th. It can’t come soon enough… Baxter has been spending time with Charlie at my moms and with us… he misses his brother when he’s not there. We’ve got Charlie home for the weekend now and then he’ll go to my moms again on Monday, then surgery on Tuesday morning.
I hope your trip to Chi-town was fun! Our trip was good, too! πŸ™‚

  • My mom and peonies were toast within two days, but damn did they ever smell nice. :
I totally hear you on aging dogs. It’s tough because you love them but it’s hard to come to terms that they’re getting old… mine are 10 and 9 and it makes me sad every year that goes by, so I try and enjoy every damn day with my boys. <3
Hope you're having a lovely Canada Day weekend hun! Xoxo

  • Thanks love. He has surgery this Tuesday; it can’t come quick enough!!

  • Girl, I’m loving VSCO. Not sure why I never used it much before but I’m using it all the time now. Well, half the time now we’ll say. πŸ™‚ The package is a good price and you get something like over 100 filters. That in itself can be overwhelming but I play and see what I like.
I’m gonna blog about my trip this week, mostly a photo post I think. I wrote a camping essentials post yesterday and will share it on Tuesday in the group since I’ll be sharing mantras tomorrow.

Charlie goes in Tuesday morning!! It can’t come sooner, I’m just tied of waiting, and I’m sure he is, too.

So much to catch up on. Eek. Miss you girl. xoxo

  • Same here. And hot and cranky after a night of shitty sleep is no bueno. πŸ™‚
    Camping trip was fun!! πŸ™‚

  • I miss you too. I’m so sorry I’ve been MIA. Please know that I’m thinking of little Charlie and sending him all the best vibes tomorrow. I hope and pray that all goes well, but he’s a fighter and so are his parents so I know he’ll be back to his ol’ self in no time. SO MUCH LOVE to the little pup <3 <3 <3

  • Sweetie, don’t. It’s okay. Life gets in the way and becomes stifling at times. I’m trying to dig myself out of out being off for a week.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I know he’s going to be just fine. Just gotta get through surgery, then two weeks of strict crating for the scar tissue to build, then he can start up his hydrotherapy. I’ll keep you posted babe. Thank you. <3 xoxo
