What’s up, Weekend? 24

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the revamped link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Christina from The Brave Wanderer and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For the last two years, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

1. Picking up the dogs from moms house last Friday after having not seen them in 8 days! Β Reunited and it feels sooo goooood… πŸ™‚

2. Watching a bunch of new movies: Wonder Woman, Rough Night, and 47 Meters.

3. Going for scenic drives for no reason.Β

Holland Marsh

4. Lunch with family, celebrating my aunts birthday.

5. Out for an afternoon, biking around Toronto. It was such a gorgeous day.Β

Toronto
6. Charlie’s much anticipated surgery happened on Tuesday and was a success. Β

7. Oddly enough, getting back into the groove at work after being in vacation-mode.

8. Getting back to the gym and working my muscles, which is, judging on the aches I feel, I’m working quite nicely.Β

9. Walks in the evenings with Baxter.Β

10. Reuniting with Charlie after his surgery.

11. Snuggling on the couch with Charlie, who is still heavily medicated, but he’s happily fallen asleep in my arms. Love! Β

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

One of Jeff’s best friend’s is getting married this weekend so there’s that on Saturday and then on Sunday, who knows.Β  But I know for certain that it will involve a lot of Charlie-time.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend? Take care friends! πŸ™‚

  • I would love to bike around Toronto. It’s such a lovely city! I’m glad to hear Charlie is doing ok after surgery. I was thinking about you guys. <3

  • Oh my goodness, Lindsay. That shot of Toronto is fantastic!

It sounds like you’ve transitioned right back into the thick of things after your camping trip, and that things are good. πŸ™‚

Did you enjoy Wonder Woman? We’ve heard good things, and definitely plan to see it soon.

  • Penny @ pennyspassion.blogspot

Toronto looks beautiful! Sounds like you enjoyed lots of exercise this week. Hope you are having a great week this week too!

  • Hey girl hey!
I LOVED it and love Gal Gadot. She’s my new fave and I think she played the role really well. I also liked Robin Wright in the movie, too, and screamed out ‘Noooooooo!!’ when she died.

  • Divya Budhraja

Did you know she was pregnant for part of it?!

  • Hey Sheryl,
We are over the moon happy he’s home and recovering very, very nicely. He’s actually staying with my mother because he’s on strict crate rest for 14 days and stitches come out next Monday, then we can start increasing his movement. It isn’t until another two weeks though that he’ll get assessed by his surgeon and get the okay to start rehab and hydrotherapy. THAT is what we can’t wait for and are so excited to start. I’m so lucky to have my mom who is retired; not sure what we’d do without her, she’s a Saint.

You just gave me the biggest compliment– thank you so much. That’s so kind of you and I appreciate it very much. I guess I inherited my Dad’s good eye. πŸ˜‰

I hope you have a great week hun! Xo

  • Whattttt?! I did not know that at all. Isn’t she stunning? She’s such a beautiful woman. πŸ™‚

  • Isn’t Charlie’s stoned little face precious? πŸ™‚ I just love our nightly snuggles at my moms. He gets so excited when we arrive and then calms right down for Mommy and Daddy.

Coming home from our trip and even the day before we left, we sort of checked out and mentally prepared to go home, and we were saying how much we missed them and wondered how their week with mom went…

Are you managing your anxiety a bit better these days? Do you find working out helps quel the anxious feeling? I love going because it’s as much for my mental health as it is physically. I also know I’d be a fat tub of lard if I didn’t go to the gym constantly. Lol! I love food way too much.

    Happy Wednesday babes. xoxo

P.S. If you weren’t going to Woodstock this weekend, I’d tell you we should Skype.

  • Beth,
Charlie is doing so, so incredibly great, it’s really blowing us all away. You’d think he’d had surgery weeks and weeks ago, not 8 days ago! Thank you for always thinking of me and us and being the kind and thoughtful lady that you are. πŸ™‚
Rough Night was funny as hell, and Wonder Woman, Divya and I can attest to it also being a fantastic flick.

I hope you’re having a great week babes! xo

  • Is there nothing better in this world than puppy kisses? Not much.
I don’t stop by often enough to your blog, Jessica, but I’m going to make Moreno of an effort. I thought I had put your link in my Feedly reader but I’m inclined to think I just thought it and didn’t actually do it. Forgive me.

    I hope you’re having a great week, sunshine. πŸ™‚

  • Me too, hun, me too. It’s been so much more relaxed this time around, I think mostly because we’ve been there, done that kind of business. We know what to expect so we’re just going through the motions. He’s going to have so much fun starting up hydrotherapy again, I can’t wait to see how happy face. πŸ™‚
Did you get your nap in the hammock? I hope so. Sounds wonderful.
47 meters was decent, I thought it’d be cheesy and much of it was unrealistic but the thought of that happening and what if? That was scary to think of. Definitely worth a watch. πŸ™‚

  • Me too, hun. πŸ™‚
Plan a dinner or a party, woman, so you have an excuse to celebrate!!

  • Rough Night was a riot. All of the actresses are hilarious, especially the goofy one whose name I’m forgetting at the moment.
Isn’t that sleeping picture adorable? He was half asleep/half drug induced. Lol. He’s doing great this week and soon enough, next Monday, his stitches come out. Hooray!

  • It’s a really beautiful, diverse, big city and you can get around very well on a bike, AND much quicker than in a car, too. πŸ™‚
Thanks for thinking of us, Lecy. Charlie is doing phenomenal this week. We are blown away by how quickly he’s healing this time around. And I’m happy, I’m bringing him home for the weekend from my mother’s, so we can have a quiet couch weekend together. Should be good times.
I hope your week has been good hun. πŸ˜‰

  • Isn’t it a great picture? Most pictures you see of the Toronto skyline are from the Toronto islands, but this one is from a jut-out piece of land called the Leslie Street Spit, and basically it was the dumping ground for builders decades ago when they were demolishing Toronto and building it up, so you can find electrical stuff out there, tile, bricks… They’ve made it into a park like area and they’re trying to create a natural habitat for animals. It’s definitely nice to go biking there, I think its about a 7 km trail in total.

Oh I’m definitely back into the swing of things. Feels like ages ago we were camping. Funny how that is, eh?

Wonder Woman was good. The lead, Gal Gadot was pretty darn great. πŸ™‚

  • It was a great day for a 30 km bike ride and the views on the trail of the Toronto skyline are pretty. πŸ™‚
Hope you’re having a great week, Penny!
