A Sentence a Day – June Edition 12

Sentence a Day

A couple of months ago, I stumbled upon Julie’s blog, Julie’s Touch of Style, through our Peaceful Posse Facebook group in one of the daily blog threads and I kind of fell in love with the idea of summarizing each day of the month with one or two sentences, hence the name A Sentence A Day.  April’s Sentence a Day post is here if you’d like to read it and May’s Sentence a Day can be found here.

Leslie is kind enough to organize the link up and it opens up the first Thursday of each and every month.  So if you feel like playing along for July, get crackin’.

Sentence a Day

The key thing you need to ask yourself is this: If someone asked you how your June was, what would you tell them? And so, this post idea was born.

Can you all believe we’re already a third of the way through July?!

Let’s get started:

Thursday, June 1, 2017:  I know I say this all the time but I can’t believe another month has come and gone and we’re into June.  Tension with J continues and I tell you, it’s getting old and frustrating.  Onto another day….

Friday, June 2, 2017:  TGIF.  It’s been a week, let me tell you.  Jeff is in a crusty mood again/still and I was not tolerating his behaviour today.

Saturday, June 3, 2017:  Today we went to a Jays versus Yankees baseball game with our friends Bruce and Chantelle.  It was a gorgeous day and in lovely company.

Sunday June 4, 2017:  Today is the Ride for Heart challenge, which is the annual charity bike ride we do but because it was a torrential downpour and thunder and lightning, we opted not to do the ride because of the insane weather.  I felt guilt for not doing it but at least we still raised some money for charity.  Nevertheless, I was looking forward to riding 75 kms with Jeff.  Instead, we did errands and grocery shopping, meal prepping, cleaning and our usual Sunday stuff and by ‘we’ I mean me.  LOL

Monday, June 5, 2017:  It’s going to be a busy week ahead, our financial quarter is coming to an end at the end of the month and I’m on vacation, so I’m trying to get as much organized and prepared now so that I’m not scrambling later.

Tuesday, June 6, 2017:  An extremely busy today running around for a Board Meeting and a part-time member that was retiring from our organization after working with us for six years.  Board positions at my workplace are appointed positions by the Federal government’s Minister of Finance for specified terms.  I was thrilled when it was home-time as the day was nuts!

Wednesday, June 7, 2017:  Drama at work and things that should be common sense, are not and there is much frustration in dealing with these people that are so-called adults but cannot do anything for themselves.  Later on this day, Jeff and I went to visit a friend’s new house about 40 minutes away from us in the country.

Thursday, June 8, 2017:  Jeff was supposed to go up north this evening but I convinced him to head up in the morning in daylight.

Fiery sunset

Friday, June 9, 2017:  Busy/crazy day at work – I posted 40 comment letters.  Later that evening, our friend’s Alex and Frank came over.

Saturday, June 10, 2017:  Caught up a bit on TV shows, did some cleaning, walked both of the dogs, went to the farmers market and I even had time for a nap. 🙂

Sunday, June 11, 2017:  I did our Costco shopping in the morning and then in the afternoon, I went to Chantelle’s bridal shower that was being held at her Mother’s house.  Later in the afternoon, Jeff got home from up north and it was a good thing, as I’d actually missed him all weekend while he was away.

Monday, June 12, 2017:  It reached 35 degrees Celsius today!!!!!  I think summer is finally here friends!  I have such a bad headache, though.

Tuesday, June 13, 2017:  Another crazy day at work – our last board meeting for six weeks!  I also spilled a red sauce down the entire front of my navy and white dress today, all in my clumsy-ass fine form self.  Picture me in a handicap washroom, standing there in my underwear and scrubbing the shit out of my dress in vain, so that I can pretty please wear my dress for the rest of the day and not have to go buy something new.  Ugh!  Needless to say, it was wet and air drying most of the day and I ended up making myself scarce and wearing my gym gear that I had for the rest of the day.  What a day!

Wednesday, June 14, 2017:  Today was a good day at work and I had a nice evening with Jeff.  We went out and bought ourselves a new air conditioning unit for our bedroom because it was clear our current one was on its way out and summer is here, so let’s just embrace it.  It will be so much nicer for sleeping.  And the dogs.

Thursday, June 15, 2017:   Great Grit Strength class today had me like “holy shit”.  It was another quiet evening, with Jeff falling asleep on the couch at 8:45 p.m. (!!!).

Friday, June 16, 2017:  Jeff was a sweetie and he came down to Toronto to pick me up from work.  TGIF!

Saturday, June 17, 2017:  Errands-day and visiting with our friends, Tara and Erik for an evening of drinking (hello sangria!) and a sleepover (don’t drink and drive, friends!).  It rained a ton today but it was a good/fun day.  🙂

Sunday, June 18, 2017:  Father’s Day late-lunch/early dinner with Brian (step-dad), Mom and Jeff.   It was on this day that after lunch, we went back to my mom’s and Charlie was limping.  His good leg is now messed up and we’ve got to get it looked at because it looks identical to the injury two years ago.  Dammit, this sucks.  He’s now on crate rest.  We took him home but then later, I took him back to my mom’s so she could watch him during the day while we were at work.

Charlie CCL 2017

Monday, June 19, 2017:  Lots of phone calls to my mom’s to see how Charlie is doing and plans are in the works to get him seen by our vet and the orthopedic surgeon who operated on him two years ago.  Poor Charlie. 🙁  With lots of worry and concern on my mind and heart, going to my usual Grit Plyo class was welcoming.

Tuesday, June 20, 2017:  Charlie went to see our veterinarian this morning and right away, she could feel it in the knee that he had something going on.  She cringed and it’s never a good sign when the vet cringes.  We got the referral we needed and wanted and I’m making arrangements for a consultation and surgery next week for when we’re away on our camping trip.

Wednesday, June 21,  2017:  A good day – visited with Charlie tonight and he was so excited to see us.  Jeff ended up “stealing” Baxter from my mom so we have a fluff at home for some company – it’s just so lonely at home when the dogs aren’t there.

Thursday. June 22,  2017:  Its getting real – our last day of work and everything before we set out on our 7-day camping/paddling adventure.  We have eleven glorious days off and I cannot wait!

camping

Friday, June 23, 2017:  We were supposed to leave at 6 a.m. but we drank vodka last night and had a bit of a late start.  Good thing we packed the car the night before.  We were out of town by 9 a.m. and we were driving down the old logging road onto our week-long’s destination, Algonquin Park.  The bugs are BRUTAL and it rained lightly for most of today.

camping

Saturday, June 24, 2017:  We are on Daisy Lake and moving along to Little Misty, so we’re up early, eating and packing up our things to paddle to the next lake.  It was later this afternoon that we spotted a bull moose across the lake in a boggy area and he waded in the water for about an hour before retreating.  It was sunny with clouds and a bit of rain today.

camping

Sunday, June 25, 2017:  Today, we move along to Queer Lake, but to get there we’ve got a 2.4 kilometre portage to get through first before we get to the other side where the lake is and where our campsite for the night will be.  We did the portage in two trips and surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad.  The trick is just keep moving and don’t think about it.  It rained throughout the day.

camping

Monday, June 26, 2017:  Today, we paddle to Little Trout Lake where we will be staying for 3 nights.  Moving every day is fun but it is also nice to stay on a site for more than just a day, where you can relax and unwind more than having to worry about packing up in a hurry to move along to the next place.  It poured rain off and on all day.

camping

Tuesday, June 27, 2017:  These last couple of days, Jeff and I both are waking up at 4 a.m. to go pee and then we just end up talking and laughing about ridiculous things at an ungodly hour.  It drizzled off and on all day.camping

Wednesday, June 28, 2017:  My 9th wedding anniversary!  This was also the day I caved and washed my hair using a camp shower we laid out on the rocks to get warm.  It had been five days since I had washed my hair and boy was it looking pretty gnarly.  I felt like a million bucks afterwards, let me tell you.  We celebrated and had dehydrated cake to celebrate the special day.  🙂  Such a beautiful day – the entire day was full of sunshine and clouds.

Thursday, June 29, 2017:  After having dried out ourselves and all of our gear, we awoke to a torrential downpour and absolutely no sign of it improving throughout the day.  This was discouraging and by the time we packed up all of our stuff, we were soaked, all of it was soaked .. we paddled our canoe to Ralph Bice Lake and holy crap was it a big lake… All of the rain, oh my goodness.  We just made a decision that we had enjoyed seven days already and that we wouldn’t feel too bad for cutting it a day short.  And boy, what a great decision that was.  We were back to the car by 1 p.m. and home later that evening.

Friday, June 30, 2017:  Let me tell you, it felt amazing to have slept in our own BED last night and eat real food instead of food astronauts usually eat.  It was such a fantastic trip for Jeff and I both but we are also very glad to be home as well.  While we had hoped Charlie would have had surgery while we were away, he didn’t and we came home to learn his surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, July 4th.  We really missed the boys while we were away.

The boys

And that’s June for you, ladies and gentlemen.  Another month gone, just like that.

I’ll be back next month to recap my July.  Have a great evening friends!

This is such a cool idea. I used to write a positive word/phrase from each day in my journal in HS. This is a great way to reflect on the month.

  • I hope Charlie’s surgery went well. I absolutely love your pups, especially that last picture where they are lying on one another… that is the sweetest!

  • That was some month! It’s so neat to see the ebb and flow of your life over all the days, Lindsay! For some reason, the line about the bugs being BRUTAL gave me the heebie-jeebies. I’m a total magnet for those bloodsuckers. Ha ha.

  • That’s actually a great idea, too. Something easy to implement in your daily life. I like that. 🙂

  • Charlie is doing SO well and he’s recovering so, so quickly, it’s blowing us away. 🙂 My two boys are the cuddliest; Charlie grooms Baxter every night like a momma dog does with her litter, it’s soooo adorable Steph. 🙂

  • Do it for July or if too much time has passed, come on board for August. Write it down, that’s how I remember or I’d forget bloody everything. Lol!

  • It’s actually a neat way to reflect back on the month. 🙂 I enjoy it, so why the heck not, right? 😉

  • Lol! Oh Kevin, you would’ve died. I legit had two meltdown of getting so fkn fed up with the god damn bugs. On one site, it seemed prevalent for deer flies and those suckers love taking chunks out of me. And they hurt, too. 🙁
I was also using so powerful feet that was rated at something like 80%, so I probably have skin cancer now but hey, it helped a tiny bit. Lol

  • Awww Lins, this was a PERFECT way for me to catch up on your life since I have been absent from the blogging world. The ups, the downs; the work, the play; relationships and fur babies. I loved reading it all and all the photos. <3

  • Glad to have you back babes, I’ve missed you. I’m so glad to have you on FB so we can connect other ways than just our blogs. I know you’re busy, love, I experienced the same changes when I changed positions at my work a couple of years ago and I didn’t have time for shit. Hang in there love.
