What’s up, Weekend? 17

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the revamped link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Christina from The Brave Wanderer and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For the last two years, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

1.  Charlie coming home for the weekend (last weekend).  I had such a mellow, relaxing weekend with my boys. 🙂

2.  I put a massive album of photos together, ordered more from Shutterfly at a deep discount and then I backed up my phone and downloaded over 1,000 photos.  Such a boring task but I take so many photos and try to print them, back them up and what have you.

3.  Fresh cherries.

4.  Jeff came home from up north on Sunday morning, much earlier than originally had been anticipated.  The boys and I were initially startled by his unannounced homecoming, but we were very happy to have him home a day earlier.  The poor guy is going through some stressful/ridiculous family crap and I feel so awful for the guy. I haven’t decided if I want to write about it because it’s some jerry springer shit, straight up. We’ll see.

5.  Personal days when you don’t feel like being a responsible adult.

6.  Having our friends Alex and Frank over for one last time before they move 1.5 hours away.  It just means we’ll have to Skype now and make an effort to keep in touch but that’s better than nothing at all.

7.  Looking ahead to the weekend and seeing some pet clients. I haven’t pet say since May you guys and I’m missing my furry friends, especially my regulars.

8. The Supple Leopard by Dr. Kelly Starrett and Glen Cordoza. It’s an amazing book on preventing injury and athletic performance. I have a pinch in my hip and it radiates down my quad like an electrical impulse and my ankle is hurting as a result of it, I think, too. The exercises in the book are like magic. I just have to put in the work. I thought I had fixed this problem in June but apparently not and it has reared its ugly head, so I’ve gotta nip it in the bud before it gets any worse.

9. This quote: “There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self,” Aldous Huxley.

10.  Crawling back into bed with a warm, snugly dog. Priceless.

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

I’m finally back to pet sitting this weekend.  I haven’t worked since May and in June, I was away so another pet sitter worked my weekend for me.  I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones, too.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend? Take care friends! 🙂

And good on you for getting the pics downloaded and organized and into an album. I haven't done that in ages, and you're right–the task is always so time-consuming but worth it when you hold the finished product!

Charlie's pictures always make me smile. What a resilient and happy little guy he is 🙂 so happy to see him continue to improve.

I'm so sorry to hear about everything going on with Jeff's family. I know you've emailed me about it separately so I won't get into it here, but am sending all my love to you both. I know this is difficult <3

Hope you have a great weekend, momma, and glad you get to reconnect with some of your favorite pets soon!! XOXO

I have been LIVING off cherries this week! I love summertime fruits!!

  • I have not backed up my phone in such a long time. I really need to. The “cloud” keeps reminding me that it’s almost full or full. EEEKs! It’s such a pain. Oh how I love that pooch. I am so glad to see the updates you post on facebook. Such a sweet face.
My favourite thing in the world is this cherry lemonade stand at a festival in my childhood town. They put fresh cherries in it. I swear that I only buy it because of the huge plump cherries. So delicious.
I was never ashamed for taking personal days. They are what keeps us sane.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend xoxox

  • Family drama is always upsetting – hope things improve with Jeff’s family.
    That quote is awesome 🙂
Backing up photos and organising them is something I seriously need to do.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy pet sitting.
    xx

  • I’m so jealous you got all those pictures done. I have so many just waiting in my phone and on computer. And hooray for Charlie being home and getting better! Hope everything with Jeff and family is OK. Have a fantastic weekend, and get some good pet snuggles for me.

  • I’m thinking about one of those personal days that you mentioned…
Jeff’s family drama…I can relate…I am hesitant as well to put it online, but Neil’s family can be trying (to say the least.)
    Love the Charlie pics!

  • shootingstarsmag

Oh no, family drama is no fun. I’m sorry to hear Jeff has to deal with that.

Yay for Charlie being home and lots of doggy snuggles. I hope your pet sitting went well this weekend and you got to pet a lot of animals! 🙂

Awww charlie is So cute! And he seems very happy to be home too 😉 I love that quote and it is so important to find gratitude as often as we can. This week I am really grateful for a new yoga teacher who is wonderful and took 20 mins after class to teach me about homeopathy for my anxiety, a flexible job, and my pups! *thegoodthingscomin.wordpress.com

  • Isn’t it great?! Another one I’m loving is: “We don’t have to wait until the end of our lives to experience heaven — it’s here in our days and in the people all around us. It’s RIGHT NOW.” Not sure who said it or where I saw it but that’s sticking with me right now.
For photos, I store mine two ways: Shutterfly. I used to be a member of KodakGallery but then they went bankrupt and Shutterfly bought them, so all my photos with KG were moved over and I just continued my service with them. The second way is an external drive. I’m not a fan of clouds, I’m a bit paranoid about then actually.
I used to not print mine so often but I then thought, why are you taking so many pictures to ever do anything with them or look at them again? So I make a point of ordering some all the time. My memories aren’t always vivid but the pictures I look back upon always make me smile.

  • I so agree with you about the cloud and photos. I have most of mine on an external hard drive but I have to remind myself to do it. I totally forgot that I had a Shutterfly account – I need to start using it!

  • It’s really awful, I’m telling you straight up Jerry Springer type bs. It’s all just very disappointing, I think that’s the worst of it….

I hope your week has been good to you my dear. xo

  • Write it down on a list, I always forget if I don’t do that myself. I always fear my phone crashing or losing everything, somim much better backing it up now than I used to be.
