As of today, Charlie is now 23 days post-op and getting better and stronger by the day. He has been allowed to do leashed 5 minute walks, three times a day and then in a couple of weeks, he’ll move up to 10 minute walks, three times a day. We still have just over a week and a half to go before Charlie see’s the orthopedic surgeon. He’ll check to make sure he’s healing well, that the bone is calcifying properly and it is at this appointment that we’ll get the go ahead to begin rehabilitation, which consists of exercises and laser therapy usually.
Two years ago, if I recall, he did 8 sessions of this with a rehab technician and they also integrate the underwater treadmills (hydrotherapy) and then once we’re done with the techs, that’s when Charlie and I will go off and do our think in the hydro tank. We buy a monthly unlimited pass for hydrotherapy and work ourselves up to 2-3 visits per week, with each visit him gaining more strength and endurance. It’s fun AND its beneficial to his recovery and therefore, we love it. It’s something I’m really looking forward to in the coming weeks.
Day 22 post-surgery (above). He’s giving me the stink eye because I just brushed him and he wasn’t having it. lol
Thank you all for your lovely comments and well wishes. Charlie appreciates them and I have no doubt that all this love and support is helping him get on the mend.
