August Mantras & Goals

Only three months ago we launched of the Peaceful Posse monthly link up, Monthly Mantras, Goals & Currently.  For those that missed it, the link will open up on the first Monday of each month and will remain open for 14 days.  So for the month of August, it will open on Monday, August 7th and close at midnight on Monday, August 17th.  Our next link up will be Monday, September 4th.

August Mantras & Goals

It is totally up to you on how you want to layout or structure your posts.  Do whatever works for you, how about that? 🙂

So here goes my update on my July Goals and then we’ll get crackin’ on August’s mantras, goals and currently.

Let’s take a look at what my Goals for the month of July were and their results:

  1. Read more.  A big fat fail in this department.  I’ve just been busy I guess and haven’t made it a priority.
  2. Focus on Charlie’s post-op recovery and healing.  He has surgery on his leg on Tuesday, July 4th.  This has been a big fat SUCCESS.  Charlie has bee recovering and healing amazingly well and we couldn’t be more happy with where he’s at today.  He goes to see the orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday, who will then give us the okay to start rehab and hydrotherapy.  We can’t wait!!
  3. Live with more intention.  I think this was a success, at least I feel like it was.  I’m trying to live with more intention and mindfulness.
  4. Be more positive.  This has been a struggle – always has been, always will be.  But all I can do is try.  Plus it’s the summertime, how can I be negative about that?!

Mantras for August:

August Goals:

  1. This may be silly to have as a goal, but whatever, it’s my goal.  I want to be more intentional about the fruits and vegetables we buy and cut them up as soon as they come home to the fridge, ready to be eaten.  I don’t want to waste any food we’re not eating or that I’ve forgotten is in the crisper so I’d like to try and be more frugal.
  2. Plan date nights – we don’t go out too often but when we do, we enjoy ourselves and often say we should do that more often.  We’ve been together for over 15 years so it’s nice to do things out of the ordinary and mix up routine.

Reading… – Fast and Loose by Stuart Woods and Night Watch by Iris and Roy Johansen – Yes, still.

Playing… podcasts in the car

Watching… Ozark, Desus and Mero, Empire, Big Brother.

Trying… to embrace this time of change and looking for the positive. – still. Going through some sticky, straight up Jerry Springer family BS. It’s ridiculous.

Eating… Alllllll the berries: blueberries, strawberries. Cherries.

Drinking… Still drinking water like a mad man.

Calling… Canada Post, trying to figure out where my damn missing package is.

Texting… My mom down in the Dominican Republic.

Pinning… cute outfits, inspirational quotes & mantras, dog/pet pictures.

Tweeting… I’m kinda over Twitter.

Going… Up north Tuesday evening to visit Jeff’s Dad until Sunday.

Loving… my family.

Hating… when people drag their ass at work.

Discovering… all the (new to me) VSCO filters since buying the premium membership.

Thinking… about the wedding we’re going to in September (and how disorganized it is).

Feeling… grateful, happy

Hoping (for)…to start hydrotherapy with Charlie real soon.

Listening (to)… Podcasts Jeff’s into and Sirius radio.

Celebrating… Charlie and how well his recovery has been going.

Smelling… the roses? Lol.  All of my Marc Jacobs perfumes.

Thanking… My family.

Considering… What to make for dinner.

Starting… Not sure about this one.

Finishing… what I start. Always. 🙂

  • Great mantras Lindsay!
Date nights are so important, you won’t regret making it a priority.
I see you’ve been together for 15 years – my hubby and I had our first date 15 years ago next month 🙂
Good luck with Charlie’s hydrotherapy, hope it goes well. I’m so glad he is recovering successfully.

  • I love the mantra of not stressing over the things I can’t control. If I can’t control them, then they just have to be let go, right? I hope Charlie’s hydrotherapy goes well and I’m so glad his recovery overall has been going so well! It makes me smile!

  • I love the mantras. I need more of them in my life! Keep my mind focused on positive!

  • You’re watching Big Brother too? What do you think of this season? Who are you rooting for?

  • LOL Twitter. I don’t care for it either. I go months sometimes without using it. I keep debating if I should delete it but don’t want anyone to take my name.

I set a goal for a date night this month too! We have totally let it fall to the wayside lately and just hang out at home or take our son with us. We’re going on a date this weekend… just the two of us!

  • Way to go Charlie! Hydrotherapy sounds awesome too. I just started watching Ozark because I kept hearing so many good things about it. I also started watching Gypsy with Naomi Watts, also on Netflix. It’s pretty crazy/interesting. I hope the family drama comes to an end very soon!

I’m glad Charlie is doing so well, and yay for getting away for a bit! That’s always nice. I like Twitter but a big part is who I follow I think – it’s usually just full of book and nerdy information, which is fun. 🙂 Good luck with all of your goals this month.

  • This eclipse cycle has really thrown a lot out of whack, Linds. Maybe that’s contributing to some of the battiness! And of course people like you and I have a little lunar battiness following them around no matter what.

  • LOVE the monthly mantras!!! I’d say mine is Her Success is Not Your Failure

  • Awww I love your answers to this and totally have to link up! Also your insta filters have been amazing lately–I have basic membership to vsco, but will have to play around with it a bit more 🙂

Also I still can’t believe the Jerry Soringer stuff and hope everyone is okay (hard to talk about without talking about but you know you can always reach out to me whenever!!).

Also love your goal of not wanting to waste good and think that’s a wonderful mantra for the month…I always strive to do this and honestly throwing anything away hurts the heart so I want to get better about it, too!

Yay for Charlie’s recovery and so glad he’s doing hydrotherapy and that it’s helping the little guy 🙂 xoxo

  • Your first goal is not a silly one at all! Food waste is totally a good thing to keep an eye on and more people–including me–should make it a priority. So glad to hear that Charlie is doing well! And I had to smile when I saw you’re so over Twitter, because I recently got back into it.

  • Hey girl, finally back up for air! Sorry love. We never used to do date nights but being together fifteen years and trying to avoid complacency, I think it’s good for the relationship, the friendship, the bonding. And it’s fun, too! Congrats on you as well being with your hubby for fifteen years. Marriage isn’t easy but it’s worth all the joys and hardships.
We start rehab tomorrow — we can’t wait. Thanks Anthea. 🙂

  • I TRY (keyword TRY) to not let things get to me but it’s an upward battle. I stress about stupid, insignificant things that I often don’t have any control over, and really, that’s silly, you know? So I’m always repeating to myself, LET IT GO. 🙂
Thanks love — we start rehab tomorrow and can’t wait. He needs to build up his muscles again and using his limbs properly, so this is a huge step forward. But he’s doing SO well! We just took him on a fifteen minute walk and he’s snoring in our closet, belly up. 🙂

  • Me too. I’m always trying to pump myself up with positive mantras, because this world can be such a negative/nasty place.
Hope you’re having a great week thus far, Trish. 🙂

  • I am! I was just away from last Tuesday to last night and I’m catching up today. I cannot stand Paul whatsoever, then again I never did like him. LOVE Christmas, but I’ve always been a fan since following her in crossfit games a few years ago. Hmm who else? There are a lot of freaking floaters just whizzing by this year. I can’t stand Josh, either. He whines and cries too much and his voice practically drives me to drink. Lol! I initially did not like cody but he’s definitely grown on me. He’s a great game player when he’s in game mode. He’s got laser sharp focus, which, hello, of course he does, he was a marine. 🙂

I’m really not all that sure who I want to win to be honest. What about you???

  • I waffle about deleting it too but I haven’t yet. Ive had it for years so I won’t likely delete it, I’ll just end up ignoring it for along time. Lol!

How was your date night with your man?! I hope it all worked out for you guys. 🙂

  • Did you end up finishing Ozark? What did you think? I’ll have to check out Gypsy. I haven’t seen that one on Netflix as yet but if you recommend it, I’ll give it a go. 😉
Family drama is here to stay. I think we just have to accept things as is and keep a distance and boundaries. Sucks but it’s better than the alternative. It’s just disappointing, I think that’s the biggest hurt.

  • Hey girl, I have to get back to you on FB messenger, sorry love I’m drowning at the moment.
Twitter is fun and cool to surf, but it’s just so quick moving, I rarely log in anymore.
I hope you had a nice weekend hun. 🙂

  • It really has, but I think it’s more than just the lunar shit going on. I think it’s something in the water. Lmao. I think sheer ridiculousness and not thinking about the big picture here are at place. I’m being super cryptic here but my FIL is dating a family member and it’s fkd up because there’s more history to it than just that. Long story short. It’s just super disappointing and Jerry Springer like, so I hope that makes sense now when I’m mentioning, but not, you know? 🙂

    ALways! Lol

  • Love that mantra! Thought provoking… 🙂

  • Hey babes,
The pictures that look slightly hazy, those are from VSCO, by otherwise, the bright nature photos and the like on Instagram, I don’t actually use any filters. 🙂

So far it’s been a good month, and I hope it only gets better. 🙂

Tomorrow is Charlie’s first rehab/I think hydro session. Poor fella is super tired from his walk today. Lots of sleep was on the agenda. 🙂
