What’s up, Weekend? 16

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend?’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the Happy Friday link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Beth from The Beth Next Door and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For over the last two and a half years, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

  • Spending time away with friends at a cottage.  Much needed and welcomed with open arms.  Last weekend was very much what we both needed.  Thanks Chantelle!
  • Sitting on the dock in a Muskoka chair, surrounded by nature and just taking it all in.  It was bliss.

  • Early mornings in cottage country with fog rolling off the lake.

Lake Roberts

  • Fireflies.
  • Drives home on a Sunday afternoon, after a couple days in cottage country.  Coming back home is always nice, too.
  • Receiving sponsored goodies and getting to use them so I can report back my opinions.  Stay tuned for a review from Baron Fig and Smile Brilliant in the coming weeks.
  • Discovering LipSense.  This is a game changer!  I’ve never been able to claim any long-lasting lipwear actually works on, but this stuff truly does.  I love it!
  • Mango ginger Stilton cheese.  To die for.
  • Exchanging recipes with friends.
  • Snoring (happy dogs.  It is such a feeling of comfort.
  • Looking ahead and forward to a couple of weekends with the dogs and house/dog sitting at my mom’s house for ten days. Afterwards,, we have a friend’s wedding, then an IDPA shooting match.  It looks like September is shaping up to be quite busy.
  • Having both of my boys home.  Our place never feels ‘right’ or normal when the dogs aren’t here.  Our house is truly not a home without a dog or dogS, plural. lol

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

We haven’t got much planned for our long weekend, to be honest.  The dogs are home with us, we have a birthday dinner to go to on Saturday night, I’ve got a few pet visits I’m helping out with and hopefully a ton of rest and relaxation.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?  Enjoy your Labour Day Long Weekend!

Take care my friends! 🙂

I’m so glad you had a great week. Spending time with friends is always fun. I love fireflies. I haven’t tried mango ginger stilton cheese, but it sounds interesting. Does the cheese taste more like mango or ginger? Have a great weekend.

  • Divya @ Eat. Teach. Blog.

I’ve been seeing that LipSense stuff everywhere! Everyone seems to love it. This week, I’m excited to spend the long weekend with both sets of parents! <3

  • Sounds like a wonderful week and your photos are lovely. Time away in nature is just so relaxing.
    That cheese sounds very good.
Hope you have a great weekend.

  • What a lovely week! Tell me more about this cheese! It sounds really good! And I’m glad both of your boys are home too. I would feel weird if one of my two cats were gone as well. Hope you have a wonderful weekend my dear! xoxo

Your trip away sounds amazing! My sister has recently started using Lipsense and she loves it too!!

Yay for having both dogs home. I hope you have a great weekend. September looks like a busy month for me too, but I’m excited!!

  • You had me at Muskoka chair and fog on the lake. It looks gorgeous and I’m a little jealous. But this is a gratitude post so I shall not mention just how jealy I am of your lake weekend. 🙂 September tends to be a busy month and kind of a rude departure from summer. Have a great weekend, Lyndsey.

  • I so know what you mean with that last point! Whenever Mina is at the groomer it’s always awkward to be home without her. She should be here!

  • Your time at the cottage sounds wonderful, and even just looking at the picture you took of the chair and dock is relaxing. So glad you guys were able to get away and relax. And fireflies! 🙂

I hear you about having both dogs home. Nothing better than having everybody where they belong, right?

Enjoy your long weekend! We have one here, too, and have mostly just been relaxing (and volunteering, of course).

  • Thanks Emily. 🙂 Spending time with friends is absolutely necessary for your sanity and personal development, I think.
The cheese, if you find it, TRY it. I was a bit unsure as first because of the combination of mango and ginger but my god is it ever good!! It tastes a tiny bit like mango with a hint of ginger but it’s not too pungent or strong.

  • I was a skeptic at first, Divya, and I tried it and totally converted. Something must be weird about my lips though because I just don’t hold pigment on them like most people do. While the LipSense lasts most of the day, I’m happy with that. I know some people can go to bed and wake up and their lips look the same, but not I. I tried LipSense before buying because I wasn’t sold on the product and it’s not cheap, but I see why people rave about it now. 🙂

I hope you had a really nice weekend with your man, yours and his parents, too. 🙂 xo

  • Absolutely. 🙂 The cheese is so good and somehow by the grace of gods, I’ve managed to not scarf it down and there’s still some left.
I hope you had a great weekend hun!

  • The cheese is SO good, Beth. I usually make a snack plate of cheese, some crackers and kielbasa. The mango ginger cheese is a soft cheese but not spreadable by any means. I guess it kind of crumbles much like goats cheese does. If you find some, get it and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. It’s just so tasty. 🙂

I had SUCH a nice weekend at home with the boys and we’re now at my mom’s, who flew down to Barbados this morning for ten days, and then once she’s back, we’ll be taking Charlie home for good, ie him and Baxter will be home and we won’t have to go back and forth to my mom’s every night. Nothing wrong with that, but it makes the nights seem short.
Our house is not a home without four-legged friends. 🙂 I hope you had a great weekend, I gots some catching up to do. 🙂 xo

  • Lipsense is some good stuff and I had no idea it was made from natural products. I was skeptical at first tried it and was completely satisfied. Especially compared to some brands that claim they’re long lasting.

We’re at my moms for ten days now and when she gets back, the boys are coming home for good, I can’t wait!! 🙂

I hope your September is busy but wholesome and satisfying. 🙂 xo

  • It just doesn’t feel ‘right’, like there must be something missing for sure. Even though our dogs are pretty quiet, without them I feel like it’s deafening.

  • The muskoka chair on the dock, soooing coffee as the fog rolls off the lake is priceless. 🙂
I am still in denial that summer is over… it just seemed so short.
I hope you’re having a great week, Lisa.

  • The weekend was perfect and exactly what I was looking for withou even knowing. 🙂

So I’m at my moms now, with her having gone to Barbados yesterday (crazy right? Who travels to the caribbean in hurricane season?! The answer= my mom. Lol), and all is right in the world because I get puppy love all the time now. Baxter and Charlie both are happy mommy and daddy are around for snuggles and love. 🙂

I hope you were able to enjoy your long weekend. You’ve been sharing some beautiful cats recently (not that any of them aren’t).
