September Mantras, Goals & Currently 24


A few months ago, our chill blogging group that goes by the name of Peaceful Posse launched a monthly link up called Monthly Mantras, Goals & Currently.  For those that missed it, the link-up opens up the first Monday of each month and will remain open for 14 days.  So for the month of September, it will open on Monday, September 7th and it will close at midnight on Monday, September 21st.  October’s link up will open up on Monday, October 4th, and so on and so forth.

So here goes my update on my August Goals and then we’ll get crackin’ on September’s mantras, goals and currently.

Let’s take a look at what my Goals for the month of August were and their results: 

  1. I want to be more intentional about the fruits and vegetables we buy and cut them up as soon as they come home to the fridge, ready to be eaten. I don’t want to waste any food we’re not eating or that I’ve forgotten is in the crisper so I’d like to try and be more frugal.  I feel like there were improvements this month, BUT there’s so much more room to be more economical and efficient. And I hate, HATE wasting food. 
  2. Plan date nights – we don’t go out too often but when we do, we enjoy ourselves and often say we should do that more often.  In August, we were definitely making more of an effort to spend quality time together, getting out and doing new things. I’d say this goal was a success and something I’m going to continually work on.

September Goals:

  • Continue meal planning so that I’m not at a loss what to make every night.  This happens all too frequently and I can’t stand standing around the kitchen, glancing into the fridge and hoping that something will magically come to me.
  • I just got an Instant Pot so I’ve got to leave how to use that bad boy and try to free of up some time.  I want to maximize my time as much as anyone because it is precious to me.
  • Start incorporating more natural products into our home.

Currently

Currently…

Reading… nothing interesting or captivating lately.  I always enjoy Heather’s Surfing Sunday posts.  She always finds interesting, different and captivating reads that I always enjoy.

Playing…  with my hair.  My hair is really long right now and I’m constantly playing with it, so I know it’s time for a trim.

Watching… Atypical, Ballers, Last Chance U, Love, Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath, Game of Thrones, American Grit.

Trying… to embrace the changing of seasons.  We didn’t have much of a summer up here in Ontario and when we did, it was fleeting.  So, it now being September, I’m trying to be positive and embrace the changes in the weather and it isn’t easy.  For someone that’s always cold, knowing that winter is not far away makes me want to cry.  But I try to make the best of it, it’s inevitable and one thing we have zero control over: the weather.

Cooking… steak and veggies for dinner.

Eating… sweet chili heat Doritos

Drinking… Still drinking water like a mad man.

Calling… Jeff, my mom, Rogers Communications, you know, really important phone calls.  lol

Texting… Dina, Regina, Alex, Jeff, Alex, Carolyn, Mark, Kelly

Pinning… fancy dresses, instant pot recipes, inspirational quotes, bathing suits

Tweeting… inspiration quotes, truths, news articles

Going… to my moms this week to house/pet sit for ten days.

Loving… long weekends.

Hating… that summer is over.

Discovering… new places around where we live. Jeff and I both like taking drives and going on little adventures tires discovering new things.

Thinking… about creative things and upcoming events and holidays.  It’s crazy to think just how close Christmas is.

Feeling… blessed, full, happy, content, excited, frustrated, disappointed, resigned, relief.  So many feels lately.

Hoping (for)… a nice fall that lasts loooong into December. LOL

Listening (to)… Arrested Development play on Netflix in the background.

Celebrating… our friend Dina’s 50th birthday.

Smelling… rain.

Thanking… my husband, my family, my friends… without them all, their friendship and endless support, I would be half the woman I am.

Considering… buying more LipSense.  I need something more dramatic for nighttime.

Starting… (trying) new products.

Finishing… transferring and backing up all of my photos onto my home laptop and backup hard drive.

  • Nice job with August. I’m still in the process of writing my September goals, so I’ll be back to link up when they’re done. We didn’t have much of a summer here either, so I can’t believe Fall is already here. I am NOT ready for the holidays at all. And my mom’s name is Dina 🙂

    Meal planning saves us every week! It’s nice to know what we will be having each night as I find it takes the stress out of it. I am also lamenting the end of summer. It went too fast!

    Yay for meal planning. You know me, can’t function without one. Even more so now that we are back to school. Girl, did you just say the “C” word. My boys already have lists a mile long of things they want. Im gonna need Fall to slow its roll, Im not ready for Winter yet LOL Why all the feels? I will get my Mantras and Goals up soon. I love these link ups, just gotta sit down long enough to write them out Give my love to the boys!

    Fall is my favorite season but it doesn’t always last long where I live, so hopefully we BOTH get a long fall before the coldness of winter. I really need to meal plan better too. Part of the problem is the weight loss program I’m on – it can be hard to find things that fit that yet are still interesting to eat.

    I love Fall! I’m so excited that it’s September and I can’t wait for Halloween. I have to get better at meal planning. I’ve been working on it, but definitely know that I need to improve. I also have to update my Pinterest. Good luck with your goals this month.

  • I’m working on transferring my stuff too. I have TONS of videos on my phone and it’s full again… time to get those onto my hard drive.

    This is just one of the many reasons I love the group and what it stands for.

    You have a great list of goals, and sounds like you did really well with yours last month. OMG, starting into the fridge at the end of the day, not knowing what to make… UGH, it drives me bonkers. I have to get better about meal planning, too. I swear, I feel SO MUCH MORE healthy and on top of my shizz when I do this on Sundays so I have meals for at least three of the days during the following week.

    Bryan really likes Ballers (I think he has a pseudo man crush on The Rock, though he’ll prob kill me if he knew I was saying that, lol. Then again, who DOESN’T have a crush on him?! Meow). Oh! And we watched a few eps of Scientology, but it’s too close to home since I have family in it, and it’s just friggin weird.

  • What upsets me is when I’ve got produce or fruit I’ve got to toss because I didn’t eat/finish it or I was over zealous when shopping and just forgot about it.
    I’ll tell you how I drink so much water: I’m always in the bloody bathroom. Lol!

  • I see you got your goals posted, I haven’t read them but they’re cued up in my Feedly. :). This weekend and today we’re gorgeous. Not hot, but plenty of sunshine and I’ll take that. Evenings and mornings are chilly, though!
    Ahh, our friend that has the Bichons, that’s Dina. I used to go to school with a girl Dina, but hers was short for Constantina. 🙂

  • Meal planning definitely helps time and nerves. I hate standing in the kitchen with the fridge open, thinking an epiphany will come one to me. I fair far better but when I plan and know ahead, too.
    Summer seriously flew by far too quickly… 🙁

  • Girl, one of my friends starts counting down to Christmas in freaking JULY. Then the carols come out in September, latest. I’m not one to talk about how close Christmas is, but shit this year seems to have flown by.

    The boys send their kisses and tail wags. 😉

  • Me too girl. I hate just standing with the frosgenor pantry open and wondering wtf to eat. Such a time waster, and an easy way to make poor decisions.

    Yeah, I’m somewhat of a picky eater, but I’m trying to branch out and see what I like. But the program is through my local hospital so two meals a day are usually these meal replacement shakes (lot of protein yes) and then the rest of the food I eat is broken into diabetic exchanges. So one large apple is 2 fruits (and I onlyl get 2 fruits a day), etc. You can eat as many raw veggies as you want – for the most part – but I’m not a fan of most of them. LOL Plus, I didn’t realize that certain fruits aren’t that good for you like bananas and grapes, and you shouldn’t eat too much fruit anyway because of the natural sugar.

    Alex sings Christmas music year round. Its ridiculous, but it makes him happy so I don’t complain. I try not to worry about Christmas until November. The tree and lights come out around Thanksgiving. But not because I want to skip Thanksgiving and get to Christmas, but because I feel like if Im busy and have the energy, why not get it all done then. Plus our Christmas lights are changeable colors so we program them to Fall colors and then to Christmas colors in December. LOL
