What’s up, Weekend? {09/15} 16

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend?’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the Happy Friday link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Beth from The Beth Next Door and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For three years now, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

  • Sleeping with the windows open and waking up to the sweetest breeze in the morning.  It’s such a good way to wake up and start the day.
  • When I’m sitting on the floor doing my makeup at 6 am and both of the boys come over and cuddle up in my legs.  That is precious to me.  I cherish moments like those. 🙂
  • Finding a random dog on my mom’s front lawn and then not 5 minutes later, finding his owner who didn’t even realise her pup was missing.  I was worried for a second there that I’d have to wander the neighbourhood and not find his owner and have to call animal control.  Luckily, I got the boston terrier leashed up and walked down the road and she stopped and wagged her tail in one driveway and I knew, or rather I hoped, it was her house.  And it was. 🙂
  • Girl time with my friend Kelly last weekend.  We ate Chinese food, watched TV, ate chips and hung out with the dogs.
  • Dog Festivals!  They make me so happy.  I met a four-month old blue Great Dane named Dallas, a Komondor, a Shiba Inu, several Berners, Newfs and lots of little dogs.  I even saw two tri-pod dogs. 🙂 (Post coming later today)
  • Listening to the dogs and Jeff softly snore.  There’s something really soothing about it.  Not to mention the SILENCE. lol
  • Dancing with my dogs in the kitchen. 🙂
  • Putting my introvert self out there and talking to random strangers at the gym.  Complimenting people is always a good way to start a conversation.
  • Time to myself when I’m feeling stressed and frustrated or straight up pissed off.
  • Jeff is going to kill me but this makes me swoon.

Charlie

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Tonight I’ve got two pet visits, and then someone else is working my shift for the weekend so I can go to our friend Alex’s wedding tomorrow. I’ve got to pack up all of our crap and schlep it home because my mom is coming home Saturday night and we will be back late from our friend’s wedding, so we’ll pick up the boys on Sunday.  The weather is supposed to continue to be gorgeous throughout the weekend so I’m going to savour all that goodness that, too. 🙂

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Take care my friends! 🙂

What a great list of happy things. I love girl time and Chinese food is my weakness. Yay for finding the owner or that Boston. How sweet is that picture. Have a great weekend my friend. xxoo

  • Dog festivals sound like so much fun.
Glad you could find the missing dog’s owner so quickly!
That is such a sweet photo 🙂
Hope your weekend is great and you enjoy your friend’s wedding.

  • Hey lady! So great you returned the pup to his owner! And girl time is the best, I’m heading out with a good friend for some girl time today and I can’t wait. I love my boys but sometimes this momma needs some lady time! I hope you have a wonderful weekend my sweet! xoxo

Looks like you had a great week! I’m so glad that you were able to return the puppy to his owner. A dance party with dogs and puppies sounds like so much fun! Have a great weekend.

  • That picture of Jeff and Charlie is so sweet! The story about that Boston Terrier… I so love how they know when they’re home. 💙 And it’s so sweet that your pups cuddle up by you when you’re doing your makeup in the morning. I usually stand by the bathroom sink or sit at my vanity, but Mina always lays down by my feet and I love that she’s right there.

  • We had to turn on our air conditioning this week; it’s been hotter than July even!!!
Hope your week has been good, Penny. 🙂

  • So much sniffing and lots of wiggly bums. And of course smiles galore from all the humans. 🙂

  • Oh I was so relieved it didn’t take me long to find the Boston’s Momma. I was hoping to the skies above that o wouldn’t have to call AC to come get the little one.
I hope your week has been good. My September has been freaking bananas. Love ya momma. Xo

  • Have you ever been to one before? They are indeed a lot of fun, and as you can imagine, I don’t stop smiling the entire time. 🙂
That photo is pretty precious eh?
Weekend was great thanks! I hope your week has been good. Mine has been a blur but I’m happy it is finally Friday tomorrow!!

  • Gah! It’s freaking Thursday, and I hate being so tardy but such is life and that’s how this week has been. Sooooo looking forward to the weekend. Thank goodness it’s almost Friday. 😉

  • Me too; I was literally hoping I’d find the owner so I didn’t have to call animal control to come pick her up. Thankfully our town has an amazing network of pet lovers and owners, but I hate to see dogs owned by people ending up in the shelter for one reason or another. I’m glad it was a happy ending.

I hope your week has been good to you, Emily. 🙂

  • Isn’t it precious?! I always say a sleeping (snoring) dog is sure one happy pup. It’s so soothing raring their soft (or loud, lol) snores. 🙂

  • It’s such a comfortable/happy/soothing feeing, isn’t it? It’s funny they only do that at my moms but perhaps it’s competing for my attention/love. Otherwise if we’re home, after breakfast and when I’m doing my makeup, Charlie goes BACK to bed (lol) and Baxter usually stays with me, always keeping an eye out on me. 🙂

I, too, just love that picture of jeff and Charlie. It’s so sweet. 🙂

    xoxo
