What’s up, Weekend? {10/06} 27

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend?’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the Happy Friday link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Beth from The Beth Next Door and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For three years now, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

  • Helping out a homeless man and just listening to his story.
  • When Jeff crawls into Charlie’s house to love on him.

Jeff and Charlie

  • Afternoon naps with the dogs on their bed. LOL
  • Pet clients and their parents. Β They are the best and I find such joy pet sitting.

  • Seeing dear Houston. Β This boy right here is 13 years old! Β An ex friend of ours gave him up about five years ago through a rescue and our friend Dina and I met up with him at his family at a Lab dog festival last weekend and it was so incredibly nice to see him. πŸ™‚

  • Walks on crisp fall evenings.
  • Two hours commuting daily = time to do whatever the hell I want, be it sleeping, reading, blogging, whatever. Β It’s MY time.
  • Seeing the dogs and my mom happily drive off (into the sunset hahaha jk).
  • Productivity and meaningful conversations about life.
  • My little sun babies

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

It’s our Canadian Thanksgiving this three-day long weekend so I’m sure far too much food will be consumed and my waist line will be a tragedy come Tuesday morning. Β We have dinner with my family on Saturday and then on Sunday, another dinner with friends. Β And then I’m sure Monday will spent in a sloth-like state on the couch. πŸ˜‰

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a great weekend my friends! πŸ™‚

I love going on walks when the weather is cool. You can never go wrong with naps. I hope you have a great weekend.

  • What a nice post. You really are a special person. Enjoy the holiday!

  • Walks in cool weather are the BEST. I love this time of year! How sweet is it how Jeff loves on Charlie? Too cute. Happy Thanksgiving to you! I hope you have a wonderful three day weekend celebrating the holiday! XOXO

  • I am so happy the cooler weather is here. I hope to stay this time. We got a tease of nice cool and then, bam! 80 degrees. Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Happy Thanksgiving weekend, Lindsay, Jeff, Baxter and Charlie!

I loved all your happy things from the week, but seeing Houston’s picture (and your story behind it) was my favorite. I am glad there was such a happy ending for him, despite what your ex-friend did to him. And your sun babies. OMG! They look so happy. πŸ™‚

Four-day weekend going on here. I have a little work to do, but it’s nice to be able to do it from the comfort of home. And then we are going to the beach after lunch!

  • Wait…there’s a lab festival somewhere? OMG…OMG…OMG…that would be like heaven on earth! My heart would explode in like a million other little hearts because labs are the bestest. Of course that’s a biased opinion because of Champ.
I love that picture of Jeff! Shawn used to do that when Champ had a crate too. Although, Champ’s crate was much bigger! HA!
We are trying to find ways to skip out of our Thanksgiving. We are banking on a bout of diarrhea but we aren’t sure that our child can lie – My family is so dysfunctional it’s not even funny. I can’t stand it. But I hope that you have a wonderful holiday. xoxo

My dog loves to sunbathe! It’s too cute. Yay for a commute where you can do what you like. That’s always nice. πŸ™‚

    Happy Thanksgiving!!

  • So much goodness! I love fall walks πŸ™‚

  • Dude, I hadn’t heard of it until last weekend. Google labrapalooza. There’s a website for the rescue group and theres also a Fb page. It was held in Lakeside Park in Mississauga. Not sure if it’s always there but that’s where it wasn’t last Sunday. Go next year girl! If I know ahead of time, I’ll let you know/remind you. πŸ™‚

Lol Can you imagine the size of the crate we’ll have when we eventually get a Great Dane!! Lol That crate has been the best almost $200 we spent ten years ago. It’s awesome and folds flat. It’s funny, we have a term for Charlie this year. “Comes with bed..” is what we always say now because we schlep an orthopedic bed whenever he goes to my moms or wherever. He had his own luggage. Lol!

Ugh, I hear you. You gotta come up with something to save yourselves. I’ve got dinner at my moms tomorrow (no drama) and dinner with friends Sunday. Thankfully we’re not seeing Jeff’s dad or I’d be in the same boat as you – trying to figure out an excuse to bail. Good luck. And happy thanksgiving, I hope you THREE can celebrate together, sans drama. πŸ˜‰ xoxo

The pictures of your dogs always make me smile! Enjoy your holiday! I was in Nashville this weekend and met so many people from Canada. Thought of you.

  • Walks in cool weather are the best. Hope you are having a wonderful long weekend πŸ™‚

  • Walks have been much more enjoyable in her evenings now that it’s a bit cooler. πŸ™‚ I hope you got a nap in over the weekend. πŸ˜‰

  • Thank you so much, that is so kind of you to say. It made my day. πŸ™‚ I hope you had a nice weekend my friend.

  • I just got back from a walk with the dogs and it’s so nice out. Perfect sweater weather, not too hot, not too cold.
It melts my heart when jeff is sweet on the boys or whispers sweet nothings in their ears. It totally puts a smile on my face. πŸ™‚
MY thanksgiving LONG weekend was really nice – lots of food, relaxing, napping, an extra day – I couldn’t go wrong. πŸ™‚
I hope you’re having a good week babe. xoxox

  • It’s actually feeling like fall now, it’s lovely. During the daytime it gets warm but in the evenings, it’s apparent fall is here. And the lack of daylight already is incredible.
    I hope you’re having a great week Trish. πŸ™‚

  • Thanks Lauren! Hope you’re doing well and having a great week. πŸ˜‰

  • Me too. Last night was such a nice night to take the pooches out. πŸ™‚

  • I LOVE when the dogs are in a sunbeam just lapping it up. I swear my dogs would be ideal island dogs. πŸ™‚
Are you surprised my mom ran off with the dogs?! Lol. She does every Wednesday night when she comes to get them. Thursday’s are her day to take Charlie to hydro. They both enjoy that time together. πŸ™‚

  • Thanks girl. I’m sorta not looking forward to winter girl, save me!! Lol

  • Thanks girl! πŸ™‚ I ate way too much. Lol

  • Glad they make you happy Penny. They make every moment a happy one and I could take many lessons from them to appreciate every little thing in life. πŸ™‚
I wonder what the hoard of Canadians were doing in Nashville? Maybe it was a tour group from Canada? In any event, that’s cool. Nice of you to think of me when you hear Canada or a Canadian. πŸ˜‰

  • Thanks girl, the long weekend was fab, however I ate entirely too much shit. Lol!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you my friend. We had a nice weekend but I ate way too much. Back to the gym yesterday and Im feeling much better today. Lol!

Isn’t that picture of Houston great?! Thirteen years old and he look phenomenal! You can legit see the love ans adoration he has for his mom and dad of five years now, it’s so sweet. Our ex friend just decided one day she didn’t want her dog, was sick of dealing with his allergies and food issues so she gave up on him. After EIGHT years. My friend and jeff and I lost complete respect for her and her justifications on why it was the right thing or ideal thing for her to do. She didn’t deserve him anyways and frankly, just spending the day with him and his new parents, I know he has a far, far better life now and he’s genuinely happy based on the smiles. πŸ™‚

A four day long weekend?! Look at you, good for you! I hope it was enjoyed as I know it is well deserved. πŸ™‚

Have a great week Kevin! πŸ˜‰

I think we were just travelling because of the holiday you had that Monday. Maybe Nashville is doing a lot of advertising in Toronto. lol
