What’s up, Weekend? {10/20} 28

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend?’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the Happy Friday link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Beth from The Beth Next Door and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For three years now, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

  • Saturday mornings, coffee in hand and the dogs playing with their squeaky ball.
  • Blasting tunes in the car and singing like who gives a shit if I suck and people hear me. ย ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Giving things away to people who need them versus making a few bucks. ย If someone can use it, why not? ย Being kind never hurts.
  • Having a few minutes to myself to unwind and read a few pages from my book.
  • Having an actual physical journal. ย Sure I jot notes on my phone (okay, a lot!), but nothing beats pen and paper for me. ย Plus I’m loving my LAMI fountain pen that Jeff got me back in August.
  • The leaves falling/blowing all over the place. ย I love the sound of rustling leaves and all the colour changes. ย Fall is such a pretty time of year.
  • Family cuddle time in bed before work. ย They make for such a nice start to the day.
  • Tender kisses from Charlie after hydrotherapy. It’s like they are thank you kisses, it’s so cute.
  • Skyping with Charlotte.
  • These quotes from Steph’s blog of the women’s conference she went to:

“If you meet someone and they feel you are too much for them, they are right. ย You do not dim your light for someone else’s.” ย – Carla Harris

and

“The names you give people and things matter. ย Words are power.” ย – Shonda Rimes

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

I have today off to go visit my physiotherapist to see what’s going on with my left – I believe I have a pinched nerve and in the last week, it has gotten much worse.ย  Afterwards, Jeff and I are going up north for the weekend.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a great weekend my friends! ๐Ÿ™‚

Great list! As I read through them I realized I was grateful for many of those same things. Thanks for the reminder!

  • All good things to be grateful for ๐Ÿ™‚ I used to take my things to consignment store but lately, I donate more. It does feel better to give than to receive. I love your #2. Great stress reliever. Have a lovely time up north!

  • awww, I loved Skyping with you, too this week ๐Ÿ™‚ One of my highlights <3

Also good on you for donating–you're absolutely right. It feels good to give.

I love to write the old fashioned way, too… nothing like pen to paper. But thank god for convenient apps that help when I'm on the go and feeling inspired ๐Ÿ™‚

That sounds like a lovely weekend, with pups and coffee and snuggles. XOXO and hope you have a great week, my sweet friend!

  • I love these! Singing by oneself is great fun. And giving things away instead of selling them is a delight. (I’ve even given away a motorcycle!) I hope your back feels better soon.

  • Hello my darling! So many good things here! I love the feeling of donating things as well, it feels so good to give back that way! I bet puppy kisses from Charlie are the best! I love writing in a journal too, I haven’t done nearly enough of that lately. I should change that soon. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and some time to relax. Love you! XOXO

Ive been a little MIA this week. But wanted to stop in and visit. Sweet Charlie, he knows he is loved. And oye with the pinched nerve. I hope they can fix you up good as new! Im totally jealous of everyones fall. Texas seems to have something against fall. Although it did get cold this week. In the 60’s . We might have had 50’s even! I still wore flip flops all week. Sending love up your way. Have fun up north ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s a great link information wise, I think people need to be more conscientious about the foods they are feeding their pet. I don’t 100% agree with their ruling on some, such as Taste of the Wild simply because its manufactured by Diamond as the food itself is solid, healthy ingredients and a solid history. Some of their formulas make the top lists on Dog Food Advisor for that reason. That being said, I can understand their concern about verifying information.

Awww– little thank you kisses from Charlie sound amazing. I love cuddling with my dog, as you know. She’s just a cutie pie!
I hope you start feeling better soon, and omg, I love that first quote you shared from the women’s conference. SO TRUE!

  • I love using pen and paper! A new fountain pen sounds like a real treat ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Autumn is gorgeous with all the colourful leaves ๐Ÿ™‚ And I’m with you in nothing beats pen and paper. I bought a new bullet planner for next year and I’m so excited! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I hope you and Jeff had a great time up north, my friend. And that you saw lots of those leaves blowing around. Our fall has been quite muted this year. It’s kind of disappointing, but the trade off is that we’ve had warmer weather (it was 73 F today, and we ate at the beach!). Family cuddle time and post-hydrotherapy kisses from Mr. Charlie … what’s better than that? ๐Ÿ™‚

I love Saturday morning coffee and just hanging out and reading… or crafting.
I also love giving things away if I know someone will get use of something I don’t need anymore. Sometimes donations are more important than making a few bucks!

My favorite thing to do is is blast tunes in my car and sing and dance. It’s seriously so fun. I catch glances every now and then and like to think I am brightening people’s day. haha

  • Likewise, you often jog my memory of things you are also grateful that I am, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Thanks Lisa. The weekend up north was beautiful. The leaves are just stunning, and we ended up having really nice mild weather. ๐Ÿ™‚
Giving always feels good, I just love making others smile. Little things, right? I hope you’re having a great week, Lisa. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hey babes!
Crazy week, AGAIN. Looking forward to not much planned this weekend, but I have to clean as it is much, much needed. Also looking forward to sleeping in. This getting up in the dark is balls, dude. Lol!

We gotta skype more often love. I love those conversations. I gotta call you sometime when jeff also isn’t around. Lol!

I hope your week is better than mine. Some of my week has consisted of sending out 25 meeting invites and getting back over 800 responses. I feel like the scheduling Queen this week.

    Love you my sweets. xox

  • You’ve given away a motorcycle?! Wow, how nice and generous of you! That’s awesome! I bet you made their day/year. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, I went to physio last Friday and my body is such a mess, all beginning with my hips out of alignment, which is straining my L1-L3, which is pinching or putting pressure on my femoral nerve, thus all these darn pains and things I’m feeling.

I go again tonight but I’ve been so sore all week. I’m on 10 days rest and I can only do spinning, abs and upper body. I’ve managed spinning once and the rest of this week I’ve been in agony, rolling out on foam rollers and lacrosse balls like it’s going out of style.

This just sucks, bottom line. I’ll be better again soon, though, I’m sure. I hope. Lol.

I hope you’re doing well hun. xo

  • Hello my dear,
Slacker numero uno over here. Lol! Hope you’re doing well love. I’ve been laying low in agony this week so I’ve been quietly hiding because I’m too much when Im hurting. I was in so much pain Tuesday night I was on the floor crying and eventually I caved and took Tylenol. I hate taking pills for anything dammit.

But asides from that, all good, just another crazy week at work. As per usual. I hope your work has lightened up a bit for you?! I have to catch up on some reading, I’m so behind.

Miss you, love you and hope you’re well, babe. xoxox

  • Hey girl,
NO worries I’ve been a bit quiet myself because I’m in so much pain and I can barely even stand myself when I’m like this. How are you doing?
Charles and Baxter went to moms last night – she does hydrotherapy with Charlie on Thursdays – she enjoys it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll post a pic of snugly Charlie after this response. ๐Ÿ™‚

K so I had one hip jammed into the joint, which had to be pulled out. This caused strain on my L1-L3 vertebras, which is attached to the femoral nerve that is pinched or has pressure on it, thus my electric impulses. I’ve been in agony since. I was told ten days rest, no squats, no lunges, no explosive movements like the classes I’ve been doing, just spinning, rolling and the exercises I was given. Tuesday I was on the floor crying, in so much pain…. it’s just awful. I just want this to go away already.

Girl I’m jealous you’re still in flip flops; I had to pull out the scarves at the beginning of the week! Lol. I heard someone say that in Texas, you really have to look around for fall and I guess that’s true. Lol!

  • I don’t be agree with all of their points in the article but many are on point and reflect my sentiments on dog food and just simply doing your research. It also depends on what works for you and your pet, the circumstances and so many other variables.
    It’s a great starting point. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Aren’t dogs just the best? I was smudging my face into Charlie last night as last minute efforts to soak up his love before he went to my moms.
Dogs are just the best beings on the planet, hands down.

Those quotes are freaking amaze – I love them and find them so inspirational.

Thanks hun, I’m in a world of pain this week but hopefully on the mend.

I hope your week has been good, love. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I never thought I’d love a pen so much. LOL!

  • Hey girl,
I’m SO behind and I apologize. I’ve got so much catching up to do, it’s ridic. How are you? ๐Ÿ™‚ I took a TON of photos last week from up north and the colors were just incredible.

Show me your ways, girl. I’m going to try a bullet journal for next year. Will this be your post? I’ve watched some videos of some bullet journals and I love the flexibility of being creative. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hey hun, I’m so behind on everything and LIFE, forgive me.
A lady reached out to me for a closet organizer I had forgotten I posted in a Facebook group and I just told her she could have it. Why not, if she needed it, someone might as well use it.

I love donating and giving things away, it’s such a good feeling.

  • We had such a great time up north and it wasn’t gorgeous weather. It feels like fall today but I’ll take what nice weather we can get. I hope to get a post up this weekend of fall colors. ๐Ÿ™‚ We are going up again next weekend so it’ll be nice to compare the changes from last weekend to next. ๐Ÿ™‚

The last few days have felt characteristically like fall, which I suppose isn’t fair. It’s almost November. That’s too bad you’re not getting a nice color show. The trade off is pretty awesome though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nothing is better than any cuddles and lovin from the furkids. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • What a great perspective. You never know, you could be making someone’s day. ๐Ÿ™‚
Sometimes it’s fun to be silly and act like there isn’t a care in the world. ๐Ÿ™‚
