What’s up, Weekend? {11/03} 19

What's up weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend?’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the Happy Friday link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Beth from The Beth Next Door and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For three years now, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

  • Sleeping in and waking without an alarm, followed up with a full body massage.
  • Planning out my bullet journal planner I’m making for 2018.  I’ve been having fun doodling and watching YouTube videos for inspiration
  • Scenic drives on otherwise rainy, boring days.

Fall

  • Snuggle parties on the couch on gloomy fall days.
  • My husband’s wicked sense of humour.  I take life far too seriously most of the time and he always lightens the mood and makes me smile.
  • Snuggling in bed for an extra five minutes (or 10 or 15).  My bed is always so warm and inviting and getting out of it involves unravelling from my cocoon.
  • Spending Halloween with my momma.
  • Finally (!!) getting around to posting some fall photos.

Fall

  • Spinning at the gym this week.  It’s not normally what I do, but I’m grateful that at least it is something and we’re heading in the right direction.  Taking a bit of a break from going hardcore at the gym for the last six months has been frustrating but my body clearly needs some recovery and downtime.
  • Early birthday gifts!
  • Running into familiar faces I haven’t seen in years.  It’s always nice to catch up.

I’m just going to go ahead and leave these two quotes up, again, because I love them so much.  These quotes are taken from Steph’s blog of the women’s conference she went to earlier in October

“If you meet someone and they feel you are too much for them, they are right. You do not dim your light for someone else’s.” – Carla Harris

and

“The names you give people and things matter. Words are power.” – Shonda Rimes

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Tonight, were heading up north again for the weekend.  Should be interesting to see how the leaves have changed since we were last up there two weeks ago.  Sunday night, we move into my mom’s house for 8 days while she’s off to Cuba.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a great weekend my friends! 🙂

I love sleeping until my eyes open without the alarm going off! That’s one of my favorite things too!

  • What a nice list. Today is my birthday and I’m grateful for surviving sixty years. There were a few occasions when I could have snuffed it but happily I lived through them.

  • Hopefully this coming weekend includes some of that glorious sleep and gentle wake up. Have a nice weekend, Penny. 🙂

  • Well now, that is surely something to celebrate. Happy 60th my friend and I hope your day and weekend is wonderful. 🙂

  • Love your list! Glad to see everything is going well with you! I did peak at a few Whats up Weekend posts over the summer too, but I’m excited to be back in the swing of things and keep up more consistently. Though I must admit, I was taking Friday mornings to sleep in without an alarm – one of my favorites too! And I love your fall photo! I wish I had taken more over here but its been raining so much I feel like as soon as the leaves turned, they were on the ground!

  • Hey girl! Cuddling under blankets is my favorite. And a massage sounds amazing. I hope that you’re starting to feel less pain. I’ve been thinking of you tons! Love you sweets!

That’s great you’re planning out a bullet journal. I keep thinking it would be fun to try but I’m really not that creative or artistic. LOL I do love planners though. 🙂

Ooh sleeping in without an alarm is the BEST!

Planning out your bullet journal is GENIUS girl! I kept slacking and then quit. LOL . Im glad you are at least able to spin, I know how hard it is to not be all bad ass but spinning is some serious shit too! I have been hitting the snooze button over and over in the morning. I would never get out of bed if it was as cold as it is up there! Id be hibernating for sure! Have a wonderful weekend!

  • I can’t believe it’s time to start thinking about 2018, but I’m all about the planner love 🙂

  • Great list, Lindsay. I think my favorite is the one about sleeping in and waking without an alarm. I did that yesterday. We had the day off, as our leadership gave us all the day off for burning the midnight oil for the past month. 🙂

  • No alarm clocks are the best – I have a 9 year old who wakes me up at 6:10 every morning regardless of the weekend. Plus the senior dog wakes me up 4 times during the night because senior bladder and shadows in the night that look like suspicious burglars or something….he’s a funny old man dog. One day I’ll sleep in Lindsay. One day.
Full body massages though. OMG. YAS!
Our leaves still haven’t really changed. It’s like mother nature was all “Welp, we are just cold now so just fall off the damn trees. ” I’m telling you, this is the weirdest fall ever.
I hope your trip up north is wonderful xoxo

  • Waking up without an alarm is the best…I love Sundays for that most of the time. Unless I have a hike planned 😛 You’ve reminded me I haven’t had a massage for over a year. Must book one soon. Would love to see your bullet journalling in the new year. 🙂 Have a great weekend and a great week ahead!

  • I love going for drives on rainy days. I think you see the world in a way that you miss when it’s sunny outside. And it’s always nice to have a partner who reminds you to laugh from time to time. That is a blessing. 🙂

  • Cuddling under blankets is my jam from September til spring, or so it seems. LOL!
I’m feeling much better than 3 weeks ago, but don’t want to push or rush anything. I go back for physio next week because he didn’t want to touch me this week after having some cupping done on Monday night. I’m taking good care of myself, I promise. 😉
    Love ya babes! xo

  • Oh I’m not creative whatsoever, in lacking severely in that department. Which is a shame since my dad used to draw, paint, sew, cross stitch, you name it. I took after my momma in that department! Lol

I’ll take pictures when I’m done, but I’m liking the concept thus far. 🙂

  • I HAVE to plan it out or I fear if I muck it up, I’d say fk it and start over and ain’t nobody got time for that shit. Lol.
Spinning has been sooo good to me and I feel really good. And the sweat, oh my gosh has it been good. Lol.
I’ve been having such a tough time getting out of bed this week, I don’t know if it’s that winter is coming, it’s so dark out or what, but I hear you momma. Can we hibernate together? With the dogs? 😉

  • Let me know when that day comes so I can celebrate with you. Do you ever nap? Or can you nap? I loooove sleep. If I could manage sleeping 12 hours a day, I would, but alas LIFE. That shit isn’t realistic. Lol.
Honestly, you sound like you’ve got different from me only a couple hours away. Apart from that hot spell we had in September was it? It’s been normal. I saw a tiny bit of snow up north last Saturday and I hear this weekend is supposed to get cold. I’m not a fan. I’m cold on the best of days but add winter? I’m a friggin icebox.
Our weekend up north was only about 24 hours, lol, but still fun. We hunkered down in Jeff’s dad’s freezing ass house set at 45, and played cards in a bedroom with a space heater. Still fun to play cards tho. 🙂

I hope your week is going good hun. Xo

  • You should definitely schedule yourself a massage if you haven’t already done so. 🙂
I’ll share some pics of the buju when I’ve got it mostly figured out. I think I’m only going to do two months at a time and then add/revise the layout as I go, as needed.
I hope your week is going great hun! 🙂

  • Definitely a blessing. He’s saved me from many meltdowns and always knows how to put a smile on my face, mostly by saying something silly or idiotic. 🙂
LOVE rainy days, especially when I’ve got no where to be…. and then I truly don’t care if I get wet or not. It’s not like I’m going to melt. 😉
