Pet Sitting Adventures – November Edition

Hello my friends and welcome. What a light weekend last weekend was, with only fifteen visits.  I’m not sure why that was, but I’m pretty sure it’s the calm before the storm, aka the holidays.  So here’s the deal for any new readers here. Pet sitting is my part-time, fun “job”. I work one weekend a month, every four weeks (and sometimes more often, if it is needed and I am available) and have been doing so for the last five years. It was a job that I just happen to stumble upon I guess at the right time and I feel so blessed to be able to do what I do. I get to spend time with animals and anyone that knows me well will tell you that my heart is with four-legged creatures; I am often saying that I prefer animals over people, but that’s just me. There’s just something so special that I cannot put into words about how I feel when I’m around animals. What can I say? I am animal mad in every sense of the word. I physically cannot walk past a dog in the street without loving on it and I’ve been known to on many occasions to stop the car and get out to ask to pet your dog. Yes, I am THAT person. And, FUNNILY, despite being allergic to cats, I still cannot resist a sweet, fluffy purring love. It’s crazy, but it’s true and I love every second of it.  If you want to check out another pet post, check out another fun post, check out things I’ve learned over the last five years of pet sitting.

So let’s get to it, shall we?  Weekend Stats:

  • Number of booked visits: 15 visits in total, none on Friday night, 7 on Saturday and 8 on Sunday.
  • Animals: Dogs and Cats only.
  • Distance driven in weekend (Friday night at 6 pm to Sunday night at 10 pm): 271 kilometers. Although not too many visits, there was one house I️ had four visits at a bit farther away than usual.
  • Weather:  Chilly, damp, felt very much like a chilly fall/early winter day.

This old fella’s name is Twister.  Isn’t he just adorable how scruffy and unkempt he looks?  He’s 17 I believe.

This weekend was not without drama and a few cancellations, but I made it and it was overall a good and relatively easygoing weekend.  I didn’t take nearly as many photos or videos as I normally do because my iPhone is on the fritz and is having battery issues.  It’s going in for a service tomorrow morning so hopefully I’ll either have a new battery OR a new phone for my troubles (aka the battery is started to expand and isn’t charging anymore).  Also, the latest iPhone updates are brutal, is anyone else plagued by their battery dropping super quick, as in it’ll die within an hour?  Or are you having auto-correct issues?  I know, I know, first world problems.

Well that’s it for now. I hope you enjoy the pet pictures as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  • Glad you had a generally good weekend, Lindsay. Your charges are all so adorable! And I totally went, “awwwwww” when I saw that “meanwhile, back at home” shot.

Good luck with the phone battery thing. What a pain!

Omg, that last one with the cat is adorable! Look at their little face! I always love these posts; the animals are just too cute. And the dogs hanging out in the snow!! Love it!

  • I always love your pet sitting photos! I love that scruffy faced kitty! He is adorable! Sorry about your phone, that is no good. I hope you can either get the battery fixed or that you can just simply get a new phone! My fingers are crossed! XOXO

  • Renee Jacobson

OMG! That is one angry looking cat! So funny! 🙂

  • Nooo, not angry at all, just old and scruffy looking. You know which of the cats was the least friend? The last orange one sprawled out, although he did warm up a lot over the weekend. 🙂

  • Omg I’m obsessed with Twister <3 that face!!! Like grumpy cat, eh???

Awww I love your heart and all you do for our fur friends…if I lived in your area, I’d trust you with my pet always and any animal owner knows it’s not everyone that gets that kind of honor! Love you, momma and these photos are all gorgeous.

In iPhone news, the latest update effed my whizz up, too!

  • Awe. Twister is super cute. That little puppy at the end is so adorable! I think I waited so long to update my phone that I missed all the bugs 😉 Hope this upcoming weekend is relaxing!

  • What a neat part-time gig!

  • Pet sitting sounds like a fun gig 🙂

  • OMG – that Beagle looks like a younger version of mine! Love it!!
And yes – the new iPhone update sucks! I heard it was because it automatically puts everything into HD which uses a lot of battery & data, or maybe they’re just jerks.

  • Always love that you stop by and show your support and mutual love for these animals like I do. 🙂

After being incommunicado for four days, I have another brand new phone and it’s works perfectly now. Hallelujah. Lol!

  • The orange kitty was adorable but super shy. I did get to pet him at the end of the weekend but he mostly observed me with the other cat and the dog. 🙂
Glad you love these posts. I love them but it always makes me happy when others enjoy them, too. 🙂

  • Scruffy kitty was the sweetest old man. <3
Got my phone issues resolved. Two brand new phones later… *rolls eyes* lol!

  • Twister is a lot like Grumpy cat. Looks so grouchy but is the complete opposite. 🙂

I’m so touched Charlotte. That’s one thing I tell pet parents, all of this (points at myself), this is all genuine. Without a lie, I treat your pet and love on them as though they were my own. It’s a privilege to be able to care for these animals and that’s HUGE. I’m grateful that I can step in and help AND enjoy it while doing so, you know?

The new updates are effing brutal. I’m on phone #3 since last week and knock on wood, this one is golden. But the updates are killer.

    Happy thanksgiving lovey! xoxox

  • I call it my fun job. 🙂

  • Oh it’s so much fun. It’s not always easy but it’s so rewarding in so many levels. 🙂

  • Take it as a blessing you’re tardy with phone updates. I waited to update to 11 since 10 was so awful but then I thought how much worse can it get?! And it did. Jeff never updates his phone and I think that’s key, but then again sometimes certain apps stop working or the way functionality is awful…

My weekend was amazing and so much fun, thanks. 🙂

  • The beagle is Will and he’s a rescue.. I’ve known him for 5 years now and he’s a completely different boy compared to the one I met back then. Hes really come out of his shell and it’s been really wonderful to see. 🙂

I think it’s the HD thing you mention but the partitioning and file structure is apparently completely new, so while you may not know it, your phone takes WEEKS reconfiguring the file structure in the background as you use it, which I’m sure is what add to or contributes to the terrible laggy ness.
