What’s up, Weekend? {12/01} 24

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend?’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the Happy Friday link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Beth from The Beth Next Door and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For three years now, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small.  This week has been especially trying for me, so practicing this exercise has been good for my mind, heart and soul.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?

**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

Bichon Frise Sheepdog

  • Things like: new bras, new make-up, salted caramel butterscotch mocha lattes with coconut milk and beginning my Christmas shopping
  • Attending the surprise 65th birthday/retirement party for our friend’s mom.  The look on her face coming into the house was priceless!

  • Falling asleep with a snuggling dog is the best feeling in the world.  I can have the shittiest day and they always put a smile on my face.
  • My co-workers that surprised me and another co-worker with birthday cakes at a department meeting.  I thought it was super thoughtful and kind of them.
  • Leaning on my mom when I need her.
  • I’m super grateful to have so many of YOU guys out there that reach out when I’m feeling like garbage.  Sometimes I feel so alone and getting messages, emails and comments really makes me see that I’m not and that I’m loved.  Thank you.  <3
  • Painting my nails and meditating (with puppy kisses in between – never a dull moment with Charlie and Baxter. :))
  • A walk to myself with a nice salted caramel butterscotch mocha latte just because.
  • Hearing from a former manager at the hydrotherapy place and hearing he’s doing well.  We really miss seeing his face on Monday and Tuesday nights.
  • November was a great month for blog posting – although I didn’t make it every day like I had hoped for Nano Poblano, I certainly posted a heck of a lot more than usual and I’m proud of that.

And lastly: LOVE these from Steph’s blog of the women’s conference she went to earlier in October

“If you meet someone and they feel you are too much for them, they are right. You do not dim your light for someone else’s.” – Carla Harris

“The names you give people and things matter. Words are power.” – Shonda Rimes

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

Tonight Jeff is going up north for the night and to the gun club tomorrow, so I’ve got the place to myself and the pups.  Sunday, not sure what we’ll get up to, but of course the usual errands, meal prep, laundry will be happening.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend? Have a great weekend my friends! 🙂

Falling asleep snuggling a dog is the best, isn’t it! That’s probably one of the things I miss most about having a dog. Have a great weekend!

  • Hey lady! Glad the week is ending on a positive note. Those pups of yours sure are sweet! I love when I fall asleep with a cuddly cat too. How fun for the surprise party, she looks so thrilled! And that latte sounds delicious! I was up way too early this morning so I think I’m treating myself this afternoon!

  • I’m not sure how I got to your blog but hey girl hey! I love how you are trying to start a link up and put it out there NO DUMPING! I don’t link up but with two or three blogs a month and those who dump annoy the shiz out of me.

Also now I totally want a latte. Yours sounds delicious!!

I’ve always wanted to go to a dog show. Looks like it was a great time 🙂 I’m grateful this week that I’m getting on top of all the holiday shopping and craziness this year. It makes me feel so much less stressed!

  • San

Congrats on finishing Nablopoblano 🙂 I always feel more inspired after a month of posting so much.

  • Yep or spending a sick day with them on the couch or in bed. That’s the best. I think my boys would stay in bed alllllll day if I didn’t call them out to eat. Then again, they’re 9 and 10 now, certainly not puppies with tons and tons of energy.

    Have a great week hun!

  • It’s the look of genuine and shocked surprise. She cried but it was worth it. And well deserved, too!
The birthday cakes for me and the coworker were a pleasant surprise too. Walked into a department meeting and my boss had snuck in two cakes. Sneaky sneaky.

I hope you’re having a fabulous week my friend. xo

  • Next year, I’ll aim for a better 30 days, but I’m overall impressed. I haven’t written that many posts in thirty days ever. Okay, maybe back when I had blogger and seo didn’t matter.
I’ve got some great ideas and a few sponsored posts, so nothing dull going on over here. 🙂

I hope you’re having a great week hun. xo

  • I was you last year and hadn’t attended anything until last November. Dog shows are so much fun. I’d love to go to Westminster one day. 🙂
Good on you for getting on top of the shopping. I need to do that this weekend! Eep! 🙂

  • It was so much fun! 🙂

  • So much fun, Carrie. 🙂 I’d love to attend Westminster dog show someday. 🙂

  • Hey love sorry for the late reply!!
A warm kitty sure is soothing, too, especially when they’re purring. It’s so relaxing. 🙂
Hope you had a great week lovey. xoxo

  • Agreed. If I only ever have my dogs in life, I’m set and need nothing else. 🙂
Thank you hun; hope you had a great week!! 🙂

  • Hey Amanda! And apologies for the delayed reply. Welcome and so very nice to meet you. 🙂
I hate when people link dump and run and they never make any comments. It’s just tacky and rude, IMO.
I’ll check out your blog later, lady. 😉 hope you had a great week!

  • Total shock, which was nice since our friend thought she had found out about the surprise. 🙂
I hope you had a great week; it flew by!! Take care hun. xo

  • These lists definitely help uplift me when I need it. There’s so much to be grateful/happy for even when things seem bleak. 🙂
I hope you had a great week hun, it FLEW by. But no complaints, it’s Friday again!! Enjoy your weekend love!

  • Dog show pups are the most gorgeous. That little Lhasa also with the pretty coiffed hair, you’d think, would be a snotty but she was such a sweet little girl. 10 months old and just loving being doted on. Most show dogs are treated so, so well and I just love being able to interact with them, too. Because at the end of the day, even though they’re show dogs, they’re still rough and tough dogs. 🙂

I’m learning and trying to be gentle. And forgiving. That’s all I can do, ya know? Thank you for always having my back, through thick and thin, good and bad. Love you momma.

Hope your week hasn’t been too shabby.
