What’s up, Weekend? {12/08} 19

What's up, weekend?

Happy Friday and Welcome to the ‘What’s up, Weekend?’ Friday Link Up!

Welcome to the Happy Friday link-up that Charlotte, from My Pixie Blog, Beth from The Beth Next Door and I host call, ‘What’s up, Weekend?’

For three years now, Fridays have always been (and always will be) a place where I reflect on the happy and grateful things in our lives, but more specifically from the last week. To expand upon that, this link-up is now open to any post that relates to happy things, happy lists, gratitude lists, faves of the week or it could also be your practice to greet the weekend with a bang/open arms. Whatever your choice is, have fun with it. But please remember that any links that are just simply “dumped” or if your blog post does not mesh with our theme, it will be deleted.

For me personally, sometimes all it takes are gentle reminders of things that have made me grateful or appreciative during the week. We live in a world full of conflict, disaster, chaos, poverty, famine, and tragedy – you name it. Reflecting on the positive, I personally find, makes me more mindful, gracious and appreciative of all things, big and small. This week has been especially trying for me, so practising this exercise has been good for my mind, heart and soul.

You can be having the worst of weeks but I always, always manage to find things to be happy or grateful for. So, I hope writing out your lists makes you happy, too!

What's up, Wednesday?**When adding your blog post link, please remember that this is not a link dump; if it is not an appropriate link, it will be deleted.**

Grateful and Happy things of the Week:

  • Talking to friends of ours in Scotland and we may actually end up seeing them next July down in Barbados.
  • The photo booth from our work Christmas party.

CHristmas party

  • Hanging out last Saturday afternoon with our friend Bruce.
  • Pinning cookie recipes and packaging ideas for an upcoming cookie exchange.
  • Going to a tree farm last weekend with our friends to pick out their Christmas tree.  As much as I love a real tree, I’m so allergic to them.  We browsed the little shop and we both bought some ornaments and Christmas gifts.  I’m starting to finally feel Christmas-y.

Christmas reindeer

  • Five more minutes of morning snuggles before getting up to get ready for work.
  • Finalizing our Christmas cards with Shutterfly (post coming as soon as I get ours).  I ordered them a bit late but you know the saying, better late than never.  🙂
  • Coming up with holiday baking plans for an upcoming cookie exchange and for family.  I’m so excited to make Jeff’s mom’s Christmas treats and I even came up with a DIY Dog cookie gift that I’m excited to share later next week.
  • Watching Jeff dote on the dogs.  I melt when he crawls over to them and smothers them with kisses and whispers. 🙂
  • Being kind to others for no reason.  And smiling.  Smiling goes a long way and is often contagious.
  • Meeting the two whippets that my mom has been looking after all week.. I have a sleepover with them tonight because my mom gets picked up real early for Barbados and the whippet’s parents don’t get home til Saturday morning.

Whippets

  • More sleep.  For awhile there, I was only getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night and now I’m getting anywhere from 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours and I can feel the difference.

GREAT QUOTES from Steph’s blog of the women’s conference she went to earlier in October of this year:

“If you meet someone and they feel you are too much for them, they are right. You do not dim your light for someone else’s.” – Carla Harris

and

“The names you give people and things matter. Words are power.” – Shonda Rimes

What are YOU happy or grateful for this week?

I am pet sitting this weekend and it isn’t too busy, which is good because I hope to get some Christmas gifts, some crafts for a DIY and I hope to get some baking in.

What about YOU? What do you have planned for this weekend?

Have a great weekend my friends! 🙂

An InLinkz Link-up

  • Hey lady! Glad it was a good week. Can I just say the picture of those whippets made me smile, I love that they are wearing sweaters! So fun that you had a photo booth at your holiday party, I should suggest that for ours next year, that would be fun! I’m glad to hear you are getting in a Christmas-y mood! Love ya! XOXO

  • Linds!! I LOVE your list 🙂 Also hope you are having a better week — it sounds as though things are looking up for you. I’m so glad to hear that…. you sound better 🙂

ALSO how cute are those little whippets in their jammies?! I’m dying. Adorable. OMG, your mom really is living her best life, eh?? That’s awesome you might meet up with some friends in Barbados. I’d love to go there one day. It’s always on the bucket list.

I love the photo booth picture too. How was the company party? Did you have a nice time? Did anyone get drunk/inappropriate? Ha!

YAY for getting in the holiday spirit.. I”m always here momma, and sending much <3 your way, sweet friend. XOXO

  • So so many things to be grateful for! I’ve been traveling for work this week so I’m feeling especially grateful for that time in Seattle, connecting with coworkers, relaxing, and enjoying the city. My weekend will mean getting to see my boyfriend, helping him pick out a Christmas tree, and yoga teacher training. Sounds like a good weekend to me!

I hope you have a great weekend with lots of festive happenings! I had my annual cookie exchange last Saturday and it was a lot of fun. Thankfully most of the cookies are gone (I brought a lot to work) because I really need to lay off the sweets. LOL

Ooh fun photo booth! My work parties are next week, and I’m excited, because it should be an otherwise slow week I think.

I think we opted out of Christmas cards this year and it makes me so sad. We have done them every year. Time has just gotten away. I have never been to a Christmas tree farm. It always seems so magical. I did get to visit Santa’s Village yesterday with my kindergarteners. haha. That was an experience for sure.

  • Oh man, those little whippets are darling! And I love those wooden reindeer – so cute.

  • Random acts of kindness are the best. And sleeping in for more snuggles is always great. i slept in for fifteen more minutes on Saturday morning as the cats wanted to cuddle. Have a great week ahead!

  • Corey Wheeland

I feel you on the sleep! Normally I get only around 4 hours a night, but I’ve really been trying to sleep more and it’s really made a difference in how I feel throughout the day. This year, I finally did Christmas cards after years of not doing them – it made me really happy!

  • Those photo booths are always such fun. We had one at a year end party at work a few years ago.
Glad you are getting more sleep – makes a huge difference the next day.
Those reindeer are so cute! I’m also feeling rather festive the past few days.
Whippets are so cool – how sweet are their outfits 🙂

  • San

    So much Chritmas-y fun 🙂

  • Those little whippets were so cute and so much like goats. And they loved snuggling together, just way too cute.

I’m sorry I’m nearly a week late, it’s super busy with Christmas coming and I have to admit I didn’t check my phone last weekend too much when I was working. Oh well, better late than never. 🙂

Photo booths are so easy to set up, all you really need is a back drop, a camera, a tripod (and remote) and fun props. It’s a lot more fun than say someone walking around with a camera. Suggest it for your shin dig next year. 😉

Love you girl and hope you’re having a good week. Happy almost Friday. 🙂 xoxoxo

  • One week later.. here I am! Lol! I’m definitely feeling better, more chipper and less down, I guess you could say. I can’t believe how quick December is flying by, what the heck!!

My mom really IS living the life to its fullest. 🙂 And those whippets, oh my gosh hun, adorable. They always snuggle each other and they’re like bully goats. Lol!

The company party was alright, they’re usually pretty tame being during the day. We’re a crown corporation, so we don’t have budgets like private companies to host massive parties back like when I used to work at the law firm. But it was good. I had one glass of wine and I bow out. Lol. So as to not start slurring. Hahahah!

Love you sweetie. Hope you’re doing well. xoxox

  • Sounds like a great weekend. I hope you had a great week (I’m so behind, forgive me).

  • I’m kinda getting sick of the sweets already. I bet your coworkers enjoyed what you took in. Our cookie exchange for cancelled so we’re not making cookies… just as well because I don’t want that stuff sitting around. Lol

I hope you had a good week, Lauren. Sorry I’m responding so late!!

  • Time is just flying by, isn’t it? Last year I waivered on doing cards but did some last minute. I’ve done photo cards since we’ve had the dogs and I couldn’t miss a year. There’s always next year for you, though. Don’t sweat it hun. 🙂
The tree farm we went to is beautiful. I’ve been to a wedding there a few years back and it was just such a pretty, rustic venue. 🙂
I hope you had a good week hun!

  • Aren’t they the cutest? They spoon each other and steal each others body heat, it’s so stinkin adorable! 🙂

  • Fifteen extra minutes is better than zero, so that’s a win. 🙂
I’m so behind this week, forgive me. I’ve still got to read your blogpost from last week! Eeeek!
I hope you had a great week hun! 🙂

  • Even adding just a bit more sleep makes a world of difference, doesn’t it? 🙂
I hope you had a great week hun!

  • Photo booths are just so much fun and less stuffy than a photographer walking around poking a camera two inches from your face.
December is flying by, it’s nuts. Apologies for being a bad friend and not writing sooner/responding to your email. I hope you’re doing well babe. <3
