Charlie’s CCL Journey

Life Lately 30

Yep, I’m drowning, again.  I feel like the days are just bleeding into the other and I’m barely keeping afloat.  Such is life, though, am I right?  Everyone is busy with life and all the goings on, so no one is immune to all this crap that I speak of.  It is also hard to find the words when so much tragedy and sadness clouds Houston.  Nevertheless, I’m going to catch up today and share some photos of some of my life lately. I guess we’ll go back to just over a week ago when Charlie celebrated post-op day #48 […]

Charlie Update – 6 Weeks Post-Op 6

Charlie is now 6 weeks post-op and just yesterday, he started rehab and hydrotherapy.  He literally walked in the doors to the hospital, bright-eyed and tail-wagging, happy to be back in his old stomping grounds. You see, this is all familiar territory for Charlie, having gone through the same spiel just two years ago when he injured his back left leg.  And now, here we are two years later, on the road to recovery for his back right leg.  You know, gotta make things even and balanced, right? I think I’m just going to start calling Charlie the ten thousand dollar dog. […]

Life Lately & Charlie Update – 28 days Post-Op! 10   Recently updated !

How do most of you balance life and blogging?  I struggle HARD to carve out time to blog.  With working during the day and then trying to catch up on blogs and comments in sporadic pockets or when I’m commuting two hours daily, or whether it’s trying to put down my phone so that I’m more present and engaged in real life, the struggle is real.  There’s not much I can do to improve this situation other than to just deal with it and manage it accordingly.   And so here is where I catch up on all things Life Lately […]

Charlie Update – Three Week Post-Op Update 7

As of today, Charlie is now 23 days post-op and getting better and stronger by the day.  He has been allowed to do leashed 5 minute walks, three times a day and then in a couple of weeks, he’ll move up to 10 minute walks, three times a day.  We still have just over a week and a half to go before Charlie see’s the orthopedic surgeon.  He’ll check to make sure he’s healing well, that the bone is calcifying properly and it is at this appointment that we’ll get the go ahead to begin rehabilitation, which consists of exercises and […]

Charlie Update – Two Week Post-Op Update 4

It’s high time for a Charlie update, am I right?!  Time is flying you guys and in the case of Charlie’s recovery, that is good news!  He’s healing super quickly and we couldn’t be happier where he’s at.  Here he is at 14 and 15 days post-op — doesn’t he look incredible?  His stitches came out on Monday morning and he will be going back on August 9th for a consultation with his surgeon and it is at this time that we’ll get the all-clear to begin rehab and hydrotherapy.  Charlie and his pal, Lily (front). She and Charlie both had CCL […]

Charlie Update 13

So we are now on day 3 post-surgery for Charlie. He had his much-anticipated surgery on Tuesday morning with his orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Isakow. Now knowing his schedule, we are very lucky and blessed to have had him make the time to see Charlie and perform his operation.  His surgeon and his wife sold the business a couple of years ago and now, as a result, he doesn’t practice much and only comes in once a month.  We are super grateful for him and the work he did on Charlie.  The best though: my mom dropped Charlie off on Tuesday […]
